@deadestined eh cats and dogs are known to eat their dead owners too, I've even seen a dog kill her own pup and feed it to the others because it was sickly. Hell if I was really hungry....
As pet rat owner I say that no Capibara are not monsters. Sharing your life with a rodent can be very rewarding.. once you get used to their special ways.
I saw one of these when I went on a trip to Barcelona. They had them in the zoo there. They look so awkward and adorable. I have guinea pigs and their mannerisms are so similar. Just a big fat ball of cuddles and snack begging.
@AlexStump "Scientists already know that proteins in guinea pig blood are not like other rodents'. Some scientists decided to find out more. After doing research, they decided that it was possible that guinea pigs are a family all by themselves." I read something else similar to this who knows one day it might have their own family =]
@c0dy1287 even if they have their own family, they are still from the rodentia genus and are therefore still rodents. that's like saying because chihuahuas have a different blood protein than a bulldog, chihuahuas are not dogs. doesn't quite work like that. a rodent is a rodent, and a capybara is a giant rat.
@AlexStump no they aint! guinea pigs and capybaras are in the same family which is caviidae, but rats are in a different family which is muridae. being rodent doesnt make them in the same family. and this stupid anchorman or whatever he is wrong. a capybara is not a giant rat but a giant rodent.
@MarvSquacks are you serious??!! you know that guinea pigs are rodents too, right...? what an idiot. i'd love to see what genus you think rabbits and squirrels are from.
the reporter does a hilarious cartoon voice at 1:16 when he says "so what do folks say..."
also i don't think a cow slowly turning its head to look at a camera crew near it should be assumed to be because it's baffled by this exotic creature.
The pronunciation is "Kah-pee-bah-rah". It means "Master of Grasses" in Guarani (South American Native) language. This fella can live anywhere with some grass to feed on. Even in the urban riverbank areas.
I live in southern Brazil in a state called Parana, near the Parana River, which supplies the hydroelectric plant of Itaipu (the world's largest) and near the Iguazu Falls.
The southern states of Brazil are the best place to live due to good weather, natural riches, very little pollution, little crime, great development in all areas, the vast Most (80%) are descendants of European (mostly German and Italian like me) and the main activity is agriculture.
Learn more about southern Brazil (Paraná, Santa Catarina and Rio Grande do Sul) all great choices for sightseeing, simply fantastic, wonderful places, a friendly people, beautiful women like Gisele Bundchen (who was born in Rio Grande do Sul) and to speak the truth has women more beautiful it here and in large quantities.
Forget Rio de Janeiro, there is beautiful and people go hand in bikini on the street, but is also the most dangerous state of Brazil due to the large number of tourists.
Caplin's really awesome, and he's treated really well. He was born into captivity, not taken from the wild (his parents were part of a traveling carnival). It's not uncommon to see him around south Austin, and he's lots of fun to pet.
He's like a giant guinea pig and even does the same squeaking sounds. :3 They have these animals in our local zoo and they absolutely LOVE swimming. In fact they sometimes spend more time in the water than land. So cute, I would cuddle him all day. ^^
okay you said most, well most humans know how to drive a car and that alot more impressive than anything an animal can do. you put any animal inside a vehicle and they wont be able to make it down the block.
This kinda makes me think of my childhood Hamster Sylvester,he was allways sneaking out the cage at night and crawling under my bed,my Mom gave him away because my brother forgot to feed him and he got sick. :(

In the lake from the city of Cascavel (where I live) it is possible to find some Capybara, say their meat is delicious but hunting is not allowed.
Brazil is a continental country, so there is much difference between north and south.
