@Brittany20001000 breeding mice for my snakes is good for many reasons. First, of course the cost is less breeding than purchasing mice. And second, and most important, I know the mice are well cared for, and have good healthy lives before being fed to my snakes. My snakes have to eat one way or another, and I find breeding the mice to be the most beneficial in all ways.

@reptilesinmybed Thanks for the smart comment! Breeding mice myself does a few good things. First it ensures the mice live healthy and happy lives until they are fed to my snakes, and second, it is less expensive then purchasing mice.

@Ivetterivers I usually keep 1 male with 2 or 3 females for about 1 to 2 weeks. Then I separate the male until the females give birth. After the babies are old enough to separate from the moms, I give the moms a few weeks to themselves, then put the male back in.

DONT USE THAT SUBSTRATE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! u should use repti carpet. the stuff ue using is terrible because the ends r pointy and might stab them. and if they try to eat a crickett, they could miss and get that stuff inside them. and dont use stupid bins, the heat wont get through as good as a terrarium with a screen top. if u love them u would buy them the right stuff.

Honestly dude? You breed your animals and you just use the babies as food for other animals.. What kind of nature is that? Breeders with any intelligence would sell the babies or keep them as pets. But using them as food? Are you sick? Do you get joy out of this? I know the newborn babies don't. Oh and I don't think it's too comfortable having a drawer as a cage..

@hex00002 sell mice? yeah, what money would be made off of that... very little... the reason I breed feeder mice and rats is because it is much less expensive than purchasing mice/rats from stores, and also, i know they get proper care and are healthy when they are fed to my snakes. makes perfect sense.

@earthling1984 That's true indeed for me however it's very hard to understand why someone would feed mice to a snake. Snake's don't like people and don't do anything all day, while mice are really sweet and cheerfull. I loved my rats and mice and if mice's and rats would eat snake, I would give it them anyday. Besides poor mice, they get babies and imediately loose them. that's just harsh..

Nice pets bro but you seem a bit abrasive. I found myself cringing at the way you handled some of them, and I practically envisioned the dollar signs in your eyes as you spoke about breeding each species. Some of their cages are way too small, rodents need air circulation in their cages and their respiratory systems can get screwy if they are enclosed in tupperware as you have so proudly displayed them. Maybe try caring for one pet before taking on 300.

I'm a little worried since it seems like they don't have a lot of ventilation. I have a DIY cage too with a bin but I cut put the top and used wire mesh. You can also do this for the sides but I'm very clumsy so I didn't want to risk it.

the reason those rats are jumpy is cuz they havent been handled enough. If they were sold as feeders, they were never handled. If you want them to become friendly, handle them for about 15 min a day. They dont bight because rats are generally very smart and grow a strong bondage to their owners. they can also fall into depression if thy dont get enough time out of the cage because they are very active and social animals. just a little advice from an experienced rat owner^-^
