Well, there are a couple of reasons to play things at a faster tempo. 1) Not all shows can be hours long (such as small gigs like this and tours with other bands), so to fit as much in as possible, naturally, just speed the songs up a bit. And 2) It's much more fun this way. If you wanted to listen to the song like it is on the album...go listen to the album. And besides, no one's going to mosh to a serenade...
And trust me, they are most certainly comfortable live. That is where FM thrives.
It's pretty simple - the verses are Am7, Am6, Dm7 and Am, and the choruses are C, G, Dm and Am.
That one section where he sings "It's all you can... do" is F, Am, F and C.
The interludes - the banjo/accordion solos - are Am, C, Dm, Am.
Bare in mind these are the actual chords. Playing them in open chord forms can be a pain on guitar, so if you capo at the 5th fret (and play Em7, Em6, etc shapes instead) it makes it a bit easier.
Right you are my friend! In fact, that is what HE (capo 5th fret) is doing in every video I see of them playing it live. (Including this one.) I also pick up by ear that he is playing an 'F' bass note on the third chord in the progression, which you can hear well in the recorded version. (try playing along with bass notes only) So, in the capo'd 5th fret position, you could simply play a 'C' Maj, hitting the fingered A string note for just that chord, which be an F for your bass
its like this with flogging molly: they will have two or three tracks on an album that are stunning and touch your heart, like this one. But the rest of the songs sound the same. Some people think this is bad, but thats what the true nature of irish punk is. The drums; bass snare bass snare, the esscence of a great irish punk band.
I love this band. But I enjoy them in this setting much more than the concerts where the sound is so loud and distorted! I go to the concerts to bask in the energy- if that's weird, well, I am much older than most of the fans.
it's not acoustic ie. nate is playing electric bass, bridget step on a pedel, also what's with those big speakers right in front of them? ne way good post thumbs^
Listen "Slayer" acoustic performances use acoustic instraments. Go listen to heavy metal records backwords. Acoustic preformaces don't use effects pedels
BTW nate has an acoustic bass and just thought by glancing at the vid it was not hard to notice those things I am not picking anything a part Wow just noticed thats all I play bass also ^ dick^
God I love this song!!! I wish I was there!

seems like they rush through it when live. it sucks when bands do that. are they not comfortable live or something?

Anyone know the Guitar chords for this song or at least where I can find them????
howdy131 3 years ago
Try tis one. It's pretty accurate. Dave plays this with a capo on the 5th or sth. though. It sounds accurate, still.

2. The speakers are for people to hear it, dumbass.
