He does look "lost". Sometimes the mother is killed before she has a chance to teach her cubs what where how to hunt on their own. Hope this one got it figured out.

Not yet. There are lots of deer in the area, so a mountain lion is more likley to go after them. We hear the big cats at night every couple of months. A unique coughing/barking/snarling sound. A hoarse-sounding "arrrgh" sound. Makes you glad you're not camping out back.
People in that neighborhood must not let their kids outside if they're that comfortable with a cougar walking the streets. It's probably eating cats and dogs.
Actually saw a small/medium sized mountain lion today in Pine Valley (San Diego County mountains). Ran across the road about 75 yrds in front our truck. Couldnt believe my eyes. Had a sort of floppy run to it.
I've heard that Mountain Lions can be domesticated since, unlike tigers and Lions, they are closely related genetically to the house cat. Although I don't think that would be practical.
I saw (possibly) this same beast this morning as I openen my front door to get the paper. He was standing in the middle of my driveway about 15 yards from me. We stared at each other while I yelled to my wife to come to the front door to see it, but the mountain lion responded faster than my wife did and took off up the driveway and ran across the street between my neighbors' houses. I live about 200 yards from the site of the above video at the end of the street he starts to run down.
Quite massive cat.

Scottish wild cats are also closely related to house cats-good luck tamming one of those!!!
Domestication takes years of careful select breeding of docile animals-not every animal can be domesticated-would never try a cougar...
