  • Your sex is definitely a big weight loss factor. The more the merrier.

  • If i am running 6 days a week for about 50 minutes and lifting weights intensely but am only eating about 1100-1200 calories a day will i lose muscle mass? I'm about 5 feet 9 177 pounds. I am going swimming in 4-5 weeks and want to see my abs. With what i am doing is this possible since i don't have that much weight to lose and im on a large calorie deficit?

  • Steve will I still shed body fat at a decent amount of time if I create an 800 calorie deficit ???

  • hi steve, whats your opinion on a nutritional diet based on low carbs, higher fats and med to high protien? you hear lots of varied opinions and theories based on it using fat for fuel because the carbs are lower, creating a metabolic shift, more stable insulin levels etc etc.

  • He has such a common sense approach to your body. Great stuff!

  • Is it true taht if you eat too few calories your body will go into some "starvation mode?"

  • @mzrey nah. you might be a little lathargic but its bullocks that you get fatter by not eating.

  • @mandowarrior123 Thank you! I have just heard that so much.

  • @mzrey Me too. its kind of annoying, seen as it makes no logical sense at all.

  • @mandowarrior123 That's what I thought! :P

  • @mandowarrior123 Very True

  • Hi steve and thanx for the advice it well needed here lol..Im a diabetic amputee and weigh 343 lbs, i started glucerna for weight loss, i cant exercise very well until i get down bellow 300 lbs, how many calories should i be consuming a day roughly, rite now im doing about 1100-1300..Is that pretty good for loosing weight or should i be on less carbs seeing i dont exercise.

  • @dasmackman 1300 calories is fine. Don't worry about carbs. They don't make you fat. EXTRA UNUSED calories make people fat. Also, try using a recumbent bike.

  • @BodyPerformanceTV thanks for responding steve and yes i will surely call your blog talk program on sat morn from 9-10am..I appreciate the bike info and look forward to chatting on the phone with you..Thanks for the awesome advice and you look great so keep up the great work, im sure its part of your everyday lifestyle..My weight lose youtube site is NEEDTOLOOSELOTS im posting my progress videos on there lol..take care and god bless!..Bob.

  • what I did was that I kept my calories the same, but lowered the fat intake and increased the carb intake. this way, I allowed myself to eat a higher volume of food :)

  • I work out 6x a week and i want to lose weight so i eat 1800 calories or less , a day, but today i ate 340 calories more.

(2,800 is the regular calories for me just to stay in shape) so as you can see i created a 1000 calorie deficit. so would i gain weight just because i ate a little extra?

  • uh... no.. unless your instarvation mode.. and with 1000 calories deficit and with your high level of activity... i wonder if you are there.. hmm..

  • @sakoking It takes 3500 calories above your maintenance to gain 1 pound of fat. eating 340 calories above what you are eating already, which is still below your maintenance level. Your still losing weight.

  • no u wont gain weight, its a very slow process the way u gain weight, it is after weeks on end over eating tht will accumalate....u will be fine, its good to overeat once a week but dnt go nutz on it,

    aloha and thx for listening

  • Well technically it's proportional, right? So by eating 340 calories more he gained about one tenth of a pound.

  • @sakoking No, Splurging once doesnt affect you too much. Think of It as part of an average. In school if you make 10 90s on tests and then you make a 60. Your average is still 87, close to 90.

  • Steve,

    become a beachbody coach!!

  • or is it 2600C-1500C=1100C/d. I am eating 1100C under my daily recommended? so for the week i'm eating 7700 less calories, which is 2 pounds of fat burned?

Hopefully no ones rips into me for my lenghtly narrative. The burning of 3500C gets me confused.

  • But i never feel hungry!

    I'm 5ft5, 120 Ibs. (fairly petite)

    Sat: 2300 (highest in months)

    Sun: 850

mon: 1200 (I was up for 24 hours, then slept 12 before eating next meal)

tue: 1300 (I'm taking a snack now because I am scared of what I might have done to my body...)

My weight loss programme is fairly healthy - Or so I thought - I eat A LOT of low cal. food, am never hungry and do some form of excersize every day.

    Am I hurting myself?

  • You might be so low on calories that you're not registering hunger. Or thirsty...

Something else to consider is your Sunday total of 850. I think the body reacts better to consistency than wild swings. (At least for me). Your Sunday calories were way too low.

Try 1400-1600 daily; see if that shakes things loose.

  • Im actually like that myself. I started eating

like that to lose weight. I've been able

to lose about 16 pounds so far. Eating

low calories, sometimes eating a lot

& basicly eating when im hungry.

I do about 1-2 hours of cardio a day.

But as soon as i get to my ideal weight

and get the body i want, i will start consuming more calories to maintain the weight. If your at the idea weight. I think

u can eat a little more, but eating when ur hungry is best way to maintain weight, u

    doing ok^^

  • listen to your body. Trust me, everyone is different one thing might work for someone, but it wont for another. Your body has a purpose, to defend against everything life throws at you and f course, move around. So you dont have to worry about sleep or anything. When you miss some sleep, your body will still act normally and will try to regain those hours the next time you sleep, what happened to you so dont worry about your body you didnt hurt yourslf in any way i hope this was clear and helped

  • yea i eat too few calories.....lost 50 pounds but now i am finding it hard to put on muscle :S

  • Oh and sorry but i cant find it anywhare what my BMR???

  • i have a question....if i lose a more than a pound a week....do i have to worry about any of that being muscle? i don't mean an extreme amount. 2-3 pounds a week. I've heard if you lose weight too quickly you risk losing muscle or something..thanks a lot!

  • Thank you. Glad you like them.

  • I understand that a pound of fat weighs 3500C. If you consume less than you will start to chisel of fat. There's more...

  • I'm 35,5'11", 220 deceintly athletic, and I'm trying to find a nice caloric balance. I want to eat enough where my body doesn't store calories(C). I would say my recommended caloric intake should be 2600C/day, but I'm eating about 1500C/day. Now if I burn 200-300C/day that will leave me with 1200C/day for my body to function, hopefully I won't store any of those Cs. How do I know i'm eating enough to cover the Cs burned while exercisng? Is it correct to imply this: 3500-1200=2300X7=16100.

  • These videos are great! I watch them just to get motivated......Keep up the good work...

  • Hi Steve, Are you refering to low glycogen levels caused due to intense exercising and consuming less food?

I started feeling low on energy in a week after exercising for 45 minutes every day. Taking a day off from exercising and consuming extra carbs helped. Now I am good to go again.

  • This past week I tried a diet of vegetables and fresh fruits and lost a grand slam total of .6 a pound despite a 40 min aerobic workout at the gym 6 days per week

  • 10-15% of our daily calorie in-take goes to digesting food. Typically foods that are high in fiber are low in calories and MAY take a few extra calories to go through our system. But this is not a good basis for losing body fat. If you eat these foods and lose calories it's because your are not eating many calories. But you can't eat extra calories and have these foods "burn" them off! Rmember, these foods don't burn calories like exercise!

  • I Have a question, if not too silly ive heard about Negative Calorie Foods and how they could act as fat-burners because they burn more calories from digestion than the amount of the food so therefore cause a deficit, is this true? Or only mearley a myth?

  • This was really helpful, thanks.

  • cool

thanks, if you wont more info click me

  • Hey Steve I was wandering what your opinion was about the P90X workout you see on TV all the time. I cant find anything about it on your web site. It looks like it could be overtraining. Thanks.

  • so we need calories?? but much calorie we need everyday?

  • Type Basal Metabolic Rate in to a search engine and it should tell you how to work out how many calories you need in a day. Remember, its a rough gide!

  • remember, you lose fat by burning calories and then the fat. the calories are more of a barrier to getting to the fat, so calories in and of themselves are not bad. in fact, they get you through the day. minimizing the fat in your diet will help a lot in losing weight without draining you completely of your calories.

  • omgitshideous please research before making comments... losing weight has more to do with carb consumption than fat consumption. you speak as if calories are not related to fat?? remember 1g of fat = 9 calories. calories are a by-product of fat/carbs/protein...

  • Great video Again Steve !

  • I'm tired 30 minutes after I wake up.. LOL.

And wow.. "losing weight too fast".. what a complaint!..

    Good video non the less.

  • hahaha

  • I'd say anywhere from 10 to 200. Average of about 50 I'd guess.

  • You serious? 10 to 200 is heaps for a quick "you know what"

  • Yeah, but I was figuring in some people that are sickos and/or can't *** easily.

lol a 200 calorie beat off is pretty disgusting, but anyways... lol I can't believe I'm actually saying this.

But anyways, yeah... I'd say most people anywhere from 10 to 50 depending on the entire muscle group you use. I'll leave the visual imagery and possible scenarios up to your imagination.

Ok.. now that I've sunk even lower and feel like a sicko.. i go now :P

  • LMAO XD

  • Indeed.

  • excellent video i personally experienced this

  • love ur body

  • great video, it helps thanks!

  • yet another great video
