I think that Draw Muhammed Day has sort of been hijacked by people who just want to slam Islam, rather than make a point about the fact that the whole no depictions thing only applies to Muslims and they shouldn't try to foist their religious rules on the rest of the world, especially not with threats and violence. Unless Muslims are suddenly going to start worshiping a cartoon character or box of pasta, they should probably stfu about it.

@artboi123 This to me is illuminating of Islam, or this particular, indeed highly visible, expression of Islam. It suggests that islamists believe that their values are absolute, idelible, and inviolable, decreed by their god, profits, and other infallible entities, and that it is their right to cleanse the Earth of blasphemers irrespective of borders, nationality, or sovereignty. Thus, it is apparent to me that such attitudes are a scourge upon the notion of community on this planet.

@AHSAN1zaidi The original (Danish I think) cartoon that started this whole shitstorm off, may have been intended to make Islam look bad & anger Muslims, but whilst I don't agree with that, I agree with the rights of the cartoonist to express their opinion of Islam.
THAT is what Draw Muhammed day was about. Showing solidarity for people who had tried to exercise free speech, and had recieved death threats for it. If you insulted my mum, I wouldn't like it, but still wouldn't threaten to kill you!

I read people saying you shouldnt do something if others find it offensive and then write something very offensive. While others want their freedoms respeted then writing something very disrespectful.
