Unfortunately, a three-way race and the lack of a runoff election system in ME cost the state an opportunity to have the strongest leader in the Blaine House in 2010. Hopefully, 2014 will yield a different result and Eliot Cutler will have an opportunity to bring his forward-thinking, inspiring, uniting, pragmatic, and innovative ideas to the Governor's Office. Cutler in 2014!
I'll bet a lot of the over 100,000 voters for Libby Mitchell are kicking themselves tonight... if only about 10,000 of the Dems (I'm one) had switched. Too bad.
Last night on news while driving home MPBN talked about early voting possibly having hurt Cutler which is obvious to me. One woman early voter wished she hadn't before she got to know Cutler. He surged late, and wld've needed about 10,000 (of Libby's) votes. (?)
We all have the right to our opinions and mine is that the BEST man did not win. However, the people have spoken and I need to live with that. I truly hope that those now in power in Maine and in our nation can really make things better for EVERY American as they have promised. But, Eliot, plan on many of us coming looking for you in 2014!
Mr. Cutler, if Maine had the opportunity to re-cast their votes, I guarantee you that you would be governor. It is a shame that some of us couldn't realize that you were the right choice for Maine sooner.
@GamerFroob That's why we need Instant Runoff Voting. Look into it and write your state representatives and tell them Instant Runoff Voting is needed in Maine.
@jordan5554 need to look at it seriously. I thought he was going to win, but when I heard he won little Brunswick by 1,000 votes (Bowdoin area of course), and Bangor by only 500 votes I started to worry. Also the redheaded politician on program said LePage wld win (when Cutler had healthy lead) due to outlying areas and going north. Guess he was right. :(
