im sleeping on the floor of an old houe 1800 squearfett 4 bed rooms k l d 3 baths and the bed in that rv seamed so good and cosy god dam im either crayzy or sothing but thst looked good
Do you have a water heater? I don't get the airstream thing. People either hate them or they love them. I hear more love tho. I have a fifth wheel myself. How do you keep your lines from freezing? I want to camp longer into the winter, but then I winterize the trailer and it sucks...
Blessings! Thank you! I went to the factory -- I have the feeling you have been there, too, but I don't know for sure. :)
An Airstream dealer in San Antonio told me I'd be ruined after going to the factory. He said I'll never want anything besides an Airstream again. I'm all about the new models! Blessings and love and I'm glad you're here!
@CARINLOVESYOU You'll love it! There's nothing like an Airstream. Regarding one of our videos from the factory. YouTube won't let me post a link, but check out video #99 on our Channel. Happy camping!
Thank you! That's great info to have. Of course I want lots of windows, but this is something to consider as well. Which model do you have? I'm okay if you prefer to email off-line if this is taking up lots of your comments space. :) carin_channing@yahoo.com. Either way! Bless!
@CARINLOVESYOU Comments are even better than email because we can share the info with the world. Our Airstream is a 2003 25-foot Classic. I think that all of the modern units have comparable levels of insulation. I have a friend with a 2004 International -- he spent time in wintry Colorado in his Airstream and reported that everything went well. Cheers!
I'm curious about how warm it stays inside the Airstream in those cold outside temps? I'm in Ohio right now where it's getting down to 2 degrees tonight. I live in Texas where we rarely have cold days, but I heard it's 22 down there right now (like in your video). Soooo how warm can you stay inside it in the very cold weather? xo
@CARINLOVESYOU It stays very warm. The modern units are well insulated, and the propane heat furnace kicks out a lot of warmth. The areas of chill are the windows, which obviously are not insulated. The more windows, the more the heat furnace has to work.
I like to camp in the winter because there are NO PEOPLE, and whiny kids and barking dogs. You can have an entire camground all to yourself! Being around other people camping is not always a bad thing...but sometimes you just want to be alone.
@gotmildew Agreed! It is fun to have the campground all to yourself. We love "off-season" travel. The best time to travel is when the rest of the world does not. :)
As a boy from Illinios, I've had quite a few experiences in winter camping. I'd agree that it's appeal is in the "naturing cacoon" theory presented in this video. Of course, I didn't have a nice trailer or a pretty lady to warm me up, It was just me and the dog in the tent!
BTW, did you use a on-camera filter for the sireal exterier shots of the trailer or was that done in post?
Thanks concretebox! The filter was applied in post. I was trying to find a way to effectively convey how freakin' cold it was outside. It wasn't snowing but the temperature was dropping into the single digits!
Thanks rcecklin, we love Florida and will likely be frolicking on one of your beaches soon. Really, we'd like to return to Key West (and Kristy would love to revisit Disney!). We will be doing a lot of video blogging this spring. Cheers, Sean
I agree! Come visit us here in sunny southern FL. The President just did and he loved the weather! It will be in upper 80's today with low humidity...just gorgeous! We are eagerly awaiting another blog from you guys...Take care!
lol Paul, good point. I like your "escape pod" analogy! Who knows, maybe we will head back down to sunny Florida soon... if my camera ever thaws... :)
Silver twinkies are used to get us "OUT" of the cold !! Airstream's are "escape pods" that are supposed to take us away from all the misery of the deep freeze !! Please go down to the sun in south Florida for your next blog report !! P.
Did we really leave that hose connected in 20 degree weather and allow a filter to burst?

@stepfour Yes! Of course we have a water heater! :D Only way to keep lines from freezing is to use the heat furnace (it keeps the pipes warm).

I'm really gonna need to buy a truck and an Airstream trailer. 21 degrees? All the more reason to have a nice warm trailer to sleep in for the night.

How can you cope with the primitive conditions?
