  • the plot of the story is TOO SHALLOW

  • fuck , this is the WORST MOVIE EVER

  • the first time i saw a few clips of this movie i thought another war movie but last night i saw from start to finish and i was so mermerized by the characters, the plot and Angelo that kid really touched my heart. the movie is really good if you give it a chance and forget about who the director is and all the other politics

  • @panzerwurfer dude this movie was great I actually think it was better then inglorious bastards people just say it sucked because it lacks big actors but if people stopped caring about crap like they could see how amazing this movie is

  • i thought it is a brillant film! spike lee is wonderful!

  • Interesting, given the lack of marketing support for the movie. I understand that there was a shake-up last year with the Hollywood firm hired to promote the film. The movie is great, but it does digress from the book as well as real life. The movie takes liberties depicting the heartbreaks that the book describes so well. The critics may be right about the screenplay being too busy, but it has to be in order to do the subject matter justice. Overall, I really enjoyed the film.

  • movie was too busy

shoulda just focussed on one message

  • One of the worst movies I've seen. On par with we were soldiers and red dawn. I sometimes wonder how people can watch such crap and think it's good.

  • I loved the film and Spike Lee has proven to me he can direct anything. I hope he does a Western next. Go for it Spike. I'm a white dude, lets talk about the movie and not race. Stop the hate.

  • It was good movie

  • I give this a 3/10. The acting and plot line was just horrible. The fight scenes were even worse.

  • that's some nice shit you're on pal...

if you reread my last comment, nowhere in it did i talk shit about any soldier during ww2... i was merely referring to the blokes being interviewed in this video.

That's what they are.. dumbasses.. you're one of them too now. peace

  • worst war movie i've ever seen.. this review is crap and the dumbasses being interviewed are dumber than spike lee.. such morons..

"Not many african americans are being represented in ww2 films, We only have Denzel in that Glory film."

Are you fucking kidding me, glory was the civil war you fucking idiot, and this bitch puts microphones to an african audience.. what reviews would you possible get from THEM! lmao!

  • onehung why are you being racist.

    it was a good movie.

she put the mike to any one she saw coming out of the theater

  • All of you bastards expect the movie to be a blood and gore fest with no plot. Understand the fucking plot christ you're pissing me off with your stupidity. This film was great.

  • just watched it SUCKED did any of these guys go through boot camp??? they didn't do anything!!!

  • shittest review ever

  • movie was crap horrible battle scenes lmao, fuckin it made us niggas look bad cuz dey wuz un disciplined in dis mobie and dey were afta da girl in da middle of ww2? are u fuckin kiddin me

  • they were disciplined. they said what they wanted. the white & asian soldiers did that too so you're basically saying every soldier in wwii was an idiot

  • @Snako85

Not that every soldier back then was a dumb ass, but that the armies of tat day were not professional and the average man on the street even the officers who made up those armies were far less worldly and knew less than we did today.

Even over the issue of racial prejudice.

What idiot fights wit his own people duing combat? Today if that happened your own people would be killing you, poisoning your rations, not giving you cover fire and you'd lose big time! Ref. Vietnam!

  • awesome movie i'd give it a 9/10 a 9 just cause it used slang back then, that shouldn't have been back then that kind of threw me off and the whole thing with the sleeping man...but it was awesome! great few battle scenes, great plots and great characters, really a wonderful movie i recommend it to everyone willing to watch a gory movie with nudity, but the one scene at the st. anna church with the baby on the dead mom, that was sad and a very unforgetful scene even though its like 10 seconds...

  • I finally saw this movie, and it's nowhere near the bad film the many critics' reviews made it out to be. While it's not one of the best war movies, and not Spike Lee's best, it's still a good, moving film and the nearly three-hour movie kept me interested from beginning to end. I thought it could have had some better transitions and better lines at times, but this is a movie I'll watch again.

  • This review was crap!

  • best movie ever, my favorite!!!

  • Best movie of 2008 beside Benjamin Button

  • i bought this movie and thought it was awesome it could of used more battles because of that it didn't feel as much like a war movie and although its great saving private ryan is better

  • sorry to my last comment *mostly* black people

  • Maybe those were the only people that wanted to interview. When i saw Training Day in Los Angeles i was asked for an interview but declined cause i had to get to my car before it was towed. There's a reason behind everything, you'll do well if you realize this.

  • notice how she only interviews black people...

  • This is the most amateur war movie I've ever seen in my life.

From the horrible directing, to the over played music, to the extremely piss poor action scenes.

Notice how this interview is mostly blacks. Wow, this movie was so awesome, it had black people in it. So epic.

Whoever added on the trailer "the best war movie since Saving Private Ryan" should be shot. This comes no where close to Saving Private Ryan, and that movie had considerable flaws.

  • I don't care what anyone says in criticism to Spike Lee or his movies; He is a film maker, making much more many than any of you and he really could care less what you'd have to say in response to a youtube vid

  • i know these guys are talking about Blacks not getting any recognition. But im pissed that U.S forced my Filipino people here in america and in philipinnes to fight in its military and die with promises of benifets and awards. After WW2 an act was passed to keep filipinos from getting recognized as veterans and medals to this day. U.S is so messed up

  • If this is true then im sorry for your people. But fact of the matter is, no matter what race/origin/nationality you were at those times, everyone died. And everyone bled red. Honestly, i couldnt give a shit if my race died in that war, im just glad i wasnt born the time of it happening.

  • the movie was good but it was extremely too long

  • I didnt know this movie was based on race when I went to see it. But I thought it was a bad movie. I agree with the critics, it was very all over the place. I think they could have had a better story line for it.

  • All over the place how? In what way? It wasn't hard to follow, if anyone thinks it was maybe they are just inclined or a little slow. If that's the case then Pulp Fiction was all over the place too really, but neither are bad movies. Just these movies have substance and not really made for the dumb type you know what I mean? That's not targeted at you, just anyone who can't understand it.

  • Grande Spike!!!

Un film meraviglioso, umano, con un grande cuore di un grande uomo!

    Grande!

  • I like how she's talking about overcoming this gap with racial tension yet chooses only to get the viewpoints of the african americans that walk out of the theater.

  • Those were the moviegoers coming out of the theater that afternoon. RevYOU is completely impartial and asks all moviegoers exiting the theater if they'd like to talk to us, and we would hate it if anyone thought otherwise.

  • Before you wrote this, at any point did your mind jump in and say, "Maybe that's who made up the majority of the people who went to see the movie at that time?" Would you have said the same thing if, say, it were a viewing of a Spider-Man movie and the people interviewed were white?

  • Why are you guys arguing about white and blacks fighting in the war. EVERYONE fought in the war, blacks, whites, germans, japs, italians, russians, europeans. You fools are completely missing the theme of the movie. Can anyone at all tell me who the sleeping man is? If you can't then none of you understand how to truly watch a movie, and none of you have no accountability to come to a conclusion.

  • Hey, don't use the J word, pal. You talk all high and mighty here, and yet you show your own ignorance by using a racist term for Japanese people that is no different than the N word. Why don't you use the racist terms for the other racial/ethnic groups you mention? There are racist terms for all the other groups you mention, and yet you only degrade Japanese people in your statement.

  • everyone fought in that war! germans, americans, japs, filipinos

  • this movie was amazing if you dont like it you suck

  • The people have spoken. Miracle at St. Anna's gets it's ass kicked by that Nights in Rodanthe melodramatic crap.

  • Just awful. Too many plot elements poorly pieced together with horrible direction and dialogue. Overly presented stereotypes (ignorant black soldiers, arrogant and militantly racist whites), horrible action sequences (on par with most war movies from the 50s), and a lackluster ending.

I have to give credit to the actors, they did the best they could working with a complete hack. The only decent thing about the movie is that you get to see Valentina Cervi's breasts in all of their glory.

  • I even has to agree that Spike Lee is no Eastwood when it comes to military movies. But at least he tried to depict the Bl;ack military experience in the segregated WWII period. Just like in every Spike Lee movie, stereotypes were blown out of proportion, but at leasy he tackles a subject often ignored by Hollywood. The actors did a good job with a poorly coordinated script, I loved the boy & yes Valentina Cervi's breasts were magnificent too. Too bad that they got in the way of the real story.

  • I thought the movie was good. Very Deep. Too deep for yall white boys huh.

  • Did you not cry when the boy lets go of the ghost of his friend at the , or when he meets the veteran in the heaven like beach. The end connects so well with the beginning if you can follow it. Redemption, hope after all these terrible experiences, is the message.

  • As a white boy, I have to say it wasn't too deep for me. It was a good movie. I really liked how it actually told it from the side of the Germans too.

  • Well...black troops were a very SMALL part of the battle of Ima Jima...mostly support services.

I think you have to acknowledge that hundreds of thousands of white, U.S. soldiers fought and died in WWII. To call Clint Eastwood racist because he didn't focus his story on support troops...well...that's kind of lame.

And in response to mykalroze; when a war was fought by 95% white, U.S. soldiers...my guess is, 95% of movies about that war will be cast by white actors.

  • Hollywood makes far too many movies with a WWII backdrop. But it's finally good to hear about an American that focuses on minority soldiers. There's far too few movies that show much minorities in America contributed to the American war effort. There's yet another WWI-related movie coming out with a white cast. I'll be skipping it. If they're going to make another WWII movie, why not make one on Japanese-American soldiers?

  • I've never heard of this movie but it doesn't look too bad. Thanks for the review.

    :)

    -Ryan

  • I don't think this will be a hit, but Spike Lee usually never make hits. I think everybody will be watching Eagle Eye this week.

  • Grace you look so CUTE :)

    RevYOU ROX!

  • i think i have the second view. cool. Spike lee always makes great movies.

  • Riiiight. School Daze, Get on the Bus, He Got Game, She Hate Me, Bamboozled, etc.
