It is actually possible. I've done it. it requires no glitches either.

OK, I get how you can get the 50 bullet bag before you get the 30 bullet bag... and that since it's already given to you it shouldn't give it again (after 40 bullets is given) but I don't understand why the deku gives the 40 in the first place, huh :?

so the description means that it is meant to give you the 40 bullet bag, but the game was programmed to give the 50 bullet bag if you dont have the 30 bullet bag(first)?

Basically yes, the programmers found this as a simple way to code the increase to the bullet bag - they didn't think someone would someday find a way to skip getting the 30 bullet bag, as it was designed as necessary to get them in completing the deku tree. However, lagufirtnec found a way around that... hehehe

I remember getting the silver scale after the golden one. That one might be reversible, don't remember.

The dodongo's bomb bag can be skipped when you beat it, and the 30 upgrade is available at the bombchu bowling alley. Maybe if you get the dodongo's after that, it will drop to 20 too.

The bomb bag thing is actually really interesting. It puts the bomb bag itself in the bombchu item slot! you can equip it to c buttons and it acts like the eyedrops for biggoron

I wonder why the bomb bag gets put to items after getting the bag as adult while you have the 30 upgrade but it doesn't happen with the slingshot. I even tried going back to the eku tree as adult to get it after getting 50 but I just got the 30 bag and slingshot with no extra side effects. I guess we still have a lot to learn about OoT.
