Shit cover, I can see the upstrokes from here. People are shitting and moaning about how good they are but they can't even cover the Ramones, which is fucking hard by the way. But still, shit cover.
i cant wait till they do a new cover or something amazing. during their last tour they had a post on toolband a little poem abotu a coversong in duluth but i guess they never finished perfecting it? who knows. but i cant WAIT till the next tour. whenever the show ends and those lights go on i feel so good. but also JUST like i felt when i was DIEING to see them live for the first time. its just never enough i would only be satisfied if they played a 6 hour set opiate straight through to 10,000
and for other influences they have covered no quarter by zeppelin which was fucking GREAT... and also you lied by peach... justin chancellors previous band... which is also an influence on tool... like the melvins... whom buzz osbourne played on the no quarter cover live... fuck people... all you fucking worthless judges can fucking get aids and die...you make about as much sense as ellen being on american idol... you fucking judging shitcock eating worthless motherfuckers..
@gilligan80 Don't worry about the people who judge because they lack something you, me, and most people who like a plethora of artists. They lack a sense of music appreciation and music taste. I wouldn't go off calling people worthless and shitcock eating, because they tend to find that out themselves. Spewing off hate doesn't make you different from them either.
DUH...its TOOL playing COMMANDO... why the fuck do people think its supposed to sound like the ramones.... listen to the effects maynard is using for the "first rule IS".... i mean its TOOL... its a fucking dedication.. jesus christ... if you think you are better than tool OR the ramones wheres YOUR cover... wheres your schedule for your world tours.. eat a dick... everybody thinks that THEIR right... im just saying what it is...and its fucking TOOL playing RAMONES... its fucking awesome...
influences* i know they all do, adam likes the melvins and the butthole surfers, justin live for jimi hendrix, danny has many influences such as lenny white and multiple other jazz drummers that influence his style and passion for music. as for maynard.. i truly wouldnt have a clue. himself.?
ehhhh this doesnt really work with tool, sorry to say. maynards voice just doesnt work like joey's (just on this song, hes the best on just about everything else he sings) and tool is meant to be complex, the ramones were meant to be simple. too much of a clash.
This is one I reluctantly must say I can't stay out of.
Tool will be one of the first bands to tell you that they would not be a band had the Ramones not existed.
They are one of hundreds of great bands that have become prominent over the years that owe their entire existence to that "shitty punk band" from Queens.
Do your homework. Learn a little something about the music you claim to love. You might be very surprised.
danny carey is the the best drummer on the face of the planet right now. no matter what the hell he plays it's going to be amazing. and how the hell did he kill every punk drummer? because he's so much better than them?
they are both great bands for there kind of music tool is one of the greatest bands in the world and i´m sorry tha the ramones doesn´ exist the cover is better than the original
open your mind Maynard can fucking rock anyone song in the world come to realize that shit . if you think other wise you have to much cum in your ears. =]
i like how someone said adam must be bored playing easy as riffs. most tool is just drop d barre chords. not exactly any more challenging than ramones. dont get me wrong i love both bands and how difficult a song is to play doesn't determine how good it is. bad ass cover.
cliffb, then why don't you put a video on youtube and sing it better that Maynard you dumbfuck. At least he got off his ass and did a cover to pay the Ramones Respect, and you call them a Shit Band? You're pathetic.
Fukkin awesome! I am much appreciative of this video. Through a friend of Joey's, I knew that he was sick almost a year before he died and no one believed me on the net! I was bummed when I heard he'd gone. I was shocked at deedee's passing though. This vid is a pick me up for Ramones/Tool fans. They don't always go together. But as a fan of both I love it and am glad that it's been made avavilable. Thanks!
Huh. Non-musicians trying to criticise, interpret, and ultimately posess someone else's contribution. Just trying to take the smallest bit of ownership somehow. Lame. "Commando" is a classic song, Tool is a legendary group. Who am I (and WTF are you) to say "They ruined it", or that it's a buzzkill. Damn, Dude. You get to hear Tool ANYTHING, or Ramones ANYTHING, and you better quit yappin and count yourself lucky to get a taste of the real thing. No cereal filler, no pig knuckles.
I think this would interrupt the extreme high of the TOOL live experience - the Ramones were a great band but on a very different level. That said, they were obviously just paying respect.
Settle down,.. It's only a live version you poofs. Who knows who many songs they covered in rehersals. Why rip 'em of just cause you see em do this one? Tool and Ramones both kick arse and just because they play a song doesn't mean they're trying to do it better or anything. So learn some common sense will ya.
It always happens when someone does a song remake, Nightwish doing Pink Floyd's High Hopes, Evanesence doing Korn's Thoughtless, fans of the band love it, fans of the orrigenal hate it.
TOOL SUCKS!!!!!!!!!!!! having said that..........a perfect dead on rendition,,,,,i have a new found respect for bands trying to get some sort of credability by name checking the GREATEST BAND OF ALL TIME...losers
if you see adam jones play punk in this easy layback kinda way, it makes you wonder why all those punk guitarists are dancing and freaking like fucking muttens...
They, unlike you have good taste, and realise good music when they hear it. Furthermore they understand something about the history of rock music. Which would never exist as it does without the Ramones.
The Ramones never got lucky. During their career they barely sold any records, and lived on money from merch sales for most of their career. It's only in the last few years that people have started giving them the attention they deserve.
The Ramones changed rock music for ever. Without the Ramones there would probably be no Tool, no Clash, no Red Hot Chili Peppers. Many of the greatest bands on the planet would not exist without the Ramones.
You didn't say you disliked them. You said they were one of the worst bands in history. Good or bad, they were one of the most influential bands in rock history. Hence my comment. Tool was paying tribute to a band that in some way influenced them. I'm a big fan of both bands. Tool is an awesome band and The Ramones were a great band.
Listen to mo0nbuggy down there... "I can see the upstrokes from here". So it's only good if it's played purely in downstrokes!? WOW.
