The message is one of God's and I commend him however. This preachers make it sound impossible to get to heaven, they make it sound like no one except them and a few other people will make it. I debate this topic, not because I think that you must believe my way to be saved or anything. I do it because I've been on both sides of the arguement and I realize how much it changes how you view EVERYTHING. All the stereotypes I had about "calvinism" didn't hold up. I have a stronger desire to pray, read, evangelize, etc. now that I've come to terms with how helplessly lost that I was in my natural, sinful, God-hating, human nature. I don't deserve it. Paul washer is right on preaching that it is stupid to thing that a rich man has "something" even though he is spiritually lost. Although he is a man of God, his calvinist theology often kicks in when he preaches. He's wrong when he says that Jesus invades a man's heart.
God NEVER forces someone into being saved. He offers salvation to ALL people, (Romans 2:4-5) after all, Jesus even came for his own (the Jews) but His own didn't receive him. Many are called, but few will be CHOSEN.

The motivation is most likely a retaliation response to having christians, and people of other beliefs pushing their idea's on them. If it wasn't an issue in public schools, if it didn't affect political policy, if it didn't directly affect the lives of so many in negative or aggressive context... Then sure, atheists would leave Christianity alone :)

The message is one of God's and I commend him however. This preachers make it sound impossible to get to heaven, they make it sound like no one except them and a few other people will make it. They make you feel like you are themost wortless evil person on the planet. There is no happiness or joy in them. When I think of Jesus, I think happiness and joyous thoughts, I think of the cross and how he beat death. Being a Christian is hard enough, do we need to feel worthless and evil all thetime?

Jesus himself said that the gate/road to everlasting life is narrow/few find it, & the gate/road to everlasting torment is wide/many find it. Yes we're to think on good things, we're also to take up our cross daily/crusify the flesh, & examine our hearts to see if we're still walking after him. Most of what he said was truthful, but I do not agree with the part that Jesus will "kick the door of your heart" if he wants to save you.
Scriptures reveal otherwise: "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: IF any man hear my voice, and OPEN the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me." (Revelation 3:20)
So Jesus will not force the door open on you. He will knock, and call. But you have to respond and open the door if you really want Him to come in.

Got a problem though. It's not a case of where if people hear a door knocking, they'll go answer it. Man is so depraved that unless they're saved, or they're so broken in sin they seek salvation, they wont open the door, because they know Christ is on the other side and they don't want anything to do with Him.. We have free will. God did not create robots. We have to open the door and repent and invite Jesus in.
Jesus will never kick down the door unless He is invited.

I always kinda thought that but too many times the words "predestined" and "called" are used. I also started to think about Jesus actually hand picking his disciples. I really think we are chosen and I have no idea why me.

God doesn't play favorite with His children. We are all His children. However we have free will to either accept the Free Gift of Grace or reject it.
I repented of my sins and have a personal relationship with Jesus. I deny myself daily and pick up my cross and follow Jesus. I do believe once we are born again by spirit we then have a calling, a path that God wants us to follow.
When I was into New Age, and Karma (Buddhism and Hinduism) I believed in "Predesined" but not anymore.

We do have free will, but God is not a slave to our free will either.
We have to make a decision yes, but this one is just like any other decision, we wouldn't make it if God doesn't give us the grace in the first place to do so.
I am afraid that beleiving otherwise minimizes God's role in salvation.
God is eternal and all powerful, he doesn't need the help of fallen people to save them.

Without God, through His Son Jesus, my life would have no meaning. No matter how much I love my children, grandchildren, Mother and Sisters, I love God on a deeper level. He is what makes all else have any meaning. Without God I am inconsequential. Without Jesus I wouldn't be capable of "loving" anyone or anything else. I often feel deep sorrow for atheists who do not know God. How could their lives have ANY meaning??

I debate this topic, not because I think that you must believe my way to be saved or anything. I do it because I've been on both sides of the arguement and I realize how much it changes how you view EVERYTHING. All the stereotypes I had about "calvinism" didn't hold up. I have a stronger desire to pray, read, evangelize, etc. now that I've come to terms with how helplessly lost that I was in my natural, sinful, God-hating, human nature. I don't deserve it. I often ask 'why me?'

I watch it and reply because I am deeply interested in what is true in this life. I digest this mans outlook, though opposing to my own, and will either present my reasons why I disagree, or change my initial outlook. And as to your other point the Bible actually isnt all in agreement with itself, but even if it were, what does this have to do with it being true? Its only in agreement with itself because thats all they let in. If someone disagreed, like Jesus, he was crucified.

I find it interesting that everyone of the versus you folks site are from the teachings of Paul and not of Jesus. So you folks go ahead and cite a few versus from the Gospel of John, written 90-100 after Jesus that was not an eyewitness. And listen to this man imagine that every single human being since 2000 years ago until now talk about how unless they subscribed to this particular theology have all been miserable and are in Hell. The Gospel of John was written by John the apostal who walked with Jesus for 3 years when He was on the earth and even after when the ressurected Jesus apeared to Him and he Jesus also appeared to Paul the apostle and taught him after his ressusrection
