  • install android

  • battery life?

  • R7 seems working but in fact many PDFs can not be opened and no button to turn page-by-page (but only scroll).

ImageViewer is very slow unless your files are very small in size. Only use buttons for next image.

No Flash support in browser. Can't install Firefox or Chrome or Opera browser.

Mount and unmount of SD card often corrupt files or mount as read only.

It seems like a good product, but in fact it only works well with certain files in certain ways. Don't expect any smooth experience.

  • Impressive but I can see the processor straining under to the weight of the bloatware. On my old 166 MHz laptop it was the same. Native X apps like xterm, xman and xv ran quite quickly but anything using GTK+ and its entourage of associated libraries was slow as molasses.

  • Flash does not work with any ARM device at the moment any that claim to are converting them to H264 on the go , apparently Adobe are working on an arm flash version but the chances are the Smartq wont have the power to support it

  • does anybody have issues getting on Facebook with this device? Can you download adobe flash player on this?

  • not bad need work but not bad

  • Is this device compatible with Internet Explorer or Netscape as web browsers? I have to replace my aging, doddering PC because there is a website I use for work which stubbornly refuses to allow me to enter via anything other than IE or Netscape. I have a Mac, that should explain my problem with IE or Netscape.

  • Does it play MKV (720 ou 1080p) videos?

  • It does not. However, there is a new model called V7(and its smaller brother V5) coming which will have hardware decoder. I am not sure how it will be implemented, but I guess it will be possible to play 1080p in matroska container. Damn, this makes it more powerful than my laptop!

  • maybe you could install any of this EeePC OS versions? I really like the software it brings, but that could be an option. Even Hackintosh???

It would have been cool if he opened a terminal and do some apt-get update just to give some relief about installing flash/aircrack/etc.

  • There's no way you can get Mac OS to run on this device. EeePC OS - well, if you mean the modified Ubuntu, that's just a different UI, so yes, this should be possible.

  • Dose this Device have the campibality to read USB Devices and also Dose it Play Flash Video in the Explorer?

  • do you think aircrack-ng is gonna run on this version of linux?

  • It's going to work if someone ports it, yes. As for speed, it's maybe 1/10th the speed of a normal laptop.

  • please bear in mind that its not possible to install and run anything on this. There is limited ram, limited storage and not everything is available in the distribution. its not ubuntu.

  • it states on the Ubuntu website that the ARM based version brings Facebook®, MySpace®, YouTube®, Dailymotion®, 3D games, GPS, maps, in short, the full Web 2.0 experience delivered into your hands.. Flash is no issue.. For those who still have problems viewing flash.. download SkyFire browser! it plays all flash videos etc..

  • Look all of you who are asking silly questions about if it can do this or that or install firefox etc.. Ofourse you bloody can! it's ubuntu so you can install anything you like through the package manager.. you can even run microsoft office on it!! Using wine. It does absolutely anything your compouter can do.

  • The Archos 5 uses the mini Opera browser and Youtube works. Would it be possible to just install something with Flash?

  • Strange I would think there's a setting in the web browser not to remember links or to disable auto fill in in the area where you type in a link .

  • So is this useless for watching movies? I'd like to get one to use as a PMP. Does anyone know of any other MID that have proper USB like this one has? I'd like to use a USB HSPDA modem.

  • hi man , can install firefox?

  • There's not a lot of memory so this might be a problem but in theory, it's installable.

  • @stevechippy how about fennec?

  • Thx for the vid Chippy :)

  • Great video! I was looking at this for my younger siblings, as a basic little school computer. Unfortunately, the OS looks subpar for school use. Would you recommend maybe a Dell Mini instead for school?

  • Definately look at a netbook for school use. This isn't really in the classic 'computer' category. More web-book.

  • I prefer the Archos 5. Nice vid though.
