This was a simple song intended to be sung and played solo and never really worked on cover versions.
In a world where it is acceptable for so called pop stars to mime on stage before an audience this will always be at the root of real music ... something that Dylan, Lynne, Harrison, Orbison, Petty and Keltner set out (as the Travelling Wilburys) to remind the world of many years after Dylan first sang this.
I love the Lions cover because it takes a great great song and puts a different spin on it. That's what good covers should do. joaomello95 can pass a boulder through his/her urinal tract.
Jesus is the only hope of salvation from the guilt of sin. He is God come in the flesh. And he came to wash away our sins with his blood that he shed on the cross. Salvation is a free gift, but you must repent and ask Jesus to save you from your sins and come into your heart. God is good. It is written, "The just shall live by his faith."
I heard both The Eels and the Counting Crows pay their dues to this great man by covering this live at their shows :) Thanks guys, you made me aware again of a beautiful song that I actually had on freewheelin but had forgotten about!
This song is beautiful. It's such a shame no-one of my generation likes this music. They'd rather listen to music about getting wasted, but I love Bob Dylan. Theres nothing like his music <3 :')
There will never be another artist like Dylan if modern day music is anything to go by. It's all miming and acting. It will be a sad state of affairs for music if there isn't another great singer/songwriter like Dylan!!! Dylan is the most unique and original musician there has ever been and when he's gone there will be a huge void needing filled.
@davedylan22 Hey mate, I just checked that guy out and you might just be right! I can't believe I've not heard of him before. Probably because there's not much chance in hearing much real music like this in the mainstream, charts or radio. Thanks a lot for bringing this guy to my attention! Do you know of any other good artists who I may not of heard a lot about?haha
@TheLaughingBadger no worries! his latest ep is so good. might be worth checking out a band called megafaun (try 'the longest day') and bon iver's first album.
nothing touches dylan, he wrote it you jackasses, when one of these people covering it come up with something original and better than this then you can compare, im sure hell will have just froze when that happens. argument over
The harmonica is evocative of a train's whistle...one of the saddest, loneliest sounds there is.
