  • what size of pulley do you put on it is it a 2,9? thanks

  • Id kinda like to see how this fares against a jcw gp or a newer jcw.

  • I've been wondering if this could be done! I'd like to see if this blower unit would fit on my colroado..

  • Why is it so easy to supercharge this car?! I have a 3.8L Monte Carlo and in order to supercharge it, I would need to replace the whole top half of the engine with the 3.8L supercharged parts. I wish it was this easy!

  • @zedude02 So you mean you'd need new heads, valves, intake manifold, etc? Aftermarket superchargers often require an intake swap.

  • where did u get the intake manifold for the 2.4??

  • WTF, a 2.4 Supercharged is hardly more powerful than a 2.0. I want to see it with the 3.5 Pully, which I bet it is and you just can't hit 12.5 due to no intake or exhaust mods. Just assuming. Nice build though.

  • i have been wondering this for awhile why did gm chose the2.0 and not the 2.4 to out the supercharger and turbo on

  • @atlridder

Agree, the 2.4 could have been a better motor to start with.

  • @atlridder Lighter? Save on fuel consumption? 2.4=Heavy I assuming, no facts.

  • @bratboy90 some one told me it was be cause of engine stress the the bore and stroke which i can understand

  • Did you add the supercharger on...b/c the SS Supercharged only comes with a 2.0 liter engine. The 171 Hp Cobalt SS(I believe) was the un-supercharged one.

  • @KSE828

he supercharged it himself. You're right the 2.4l doesn't come with it.

  • is it hard to assemble the turbocharge and supercharge upgrades? please reply, thanks

  • @huntingfreak2009 the supercharged setup is more straight forward the turbo just takes alot of patience

  • It's either the Cobalt SS Turbo or Neon SRT-4.

I'd build one just to piss people off. Haha

  • Explain to me why you put that much money on a fucking 4 cylinder fwd!!!???? Fuck just bought real car at least ??!! Not a fucking cobalt that will probably blown up in a few days!!!??

  • @4llifemetal

wow ur one to talk....explain to me please what you could possibly be driving that its so much better than this badass Chevy Cobalt you are hating on....ur juss mad cause Cobalts actually do damage on the street or track....hell juss look at the Cobalt SS/TC

  • Im not sure what all the hating is about, I ran with the Honda crowd back in the day, had a well tuned accord, fun to drive, not extremely fast, then got a 325ci coupe, ran with the German crowd, had fun, now I have the Cobalt sport (2008 2.4L SS with different badge) and I enjoy it. I miss my bimmer, but I am saving money on payments. Getting more performance from any car shouldnt be looked down upon...douche bags.

  • where did you get the supercharger and stuff from or kit cuz i have a black 06 ss 2.4l too and i cnt find a kit to save my life??

  • @hysell50 look up ZZP the have a SC kit and TC kit

  • Smart move. I'd rather have a 2.4 than the 2.0

A little more motor to work with.

  • vvvvvvvvvvvvv-tec lol

  • sad numbers and boring video, sorry

  • @drippinblood28 yeah but a stock 2.0 s/c ss puts out less and the dude only said he put the blower on. he did the right thing if he wanted a faster stock ss cobalt.

  • @NissanTy My jeep (2 tons) with less than 200 horsepower makes 0-60 in 7 seconds flat. I bet this makes 0-60 in the same time. I can manage 121 top speed on the highway with no mods. This car is seriously just sad and I'm not being mean or anything.

  • @drippinblood28 A jeep doing 0-60 in 7 seconds? Maybe your stopwatch is broken.

  • should of turbo you get way more heat supercharged

  • Srt 4 sounds more american then this colbalt with a exhaust

  • ECOTEC CAN LICK MY BALLS

    2.4 ftw

  • man i have the same car. how much did the set up cost you?

  • I thought ss r 2.0L??

  • @specialjoe405 there was a limited run of naturally aspirated 2.4L cobalt SS's

  • don't you have to change the pistons etc in order to supercharge the car? won't they just give out soon cause they can't handle the power

  • Comment removed

  • NIce build! Did you piece that kit together? Im impressed with the numbers! Not too bad!

  • how much did you m62 SC cost? and what stage is it?

  • The OP was from 2007 so I can see modding the original car.

But personally, when I trade my '06 in I'm looking at snagging a new SS/TC wit hthe stage 1 Kit. Maybe an additional $1000.00 installed, but a self-install is do-able.

According to GM, should bump it from 260hp/260tq to 290hp/340tq. That's pretty impressive for a 2.0L with stock internals/trans.

  • I always wondered why the Cobalts didn't get the 2.4 with SC or even TC.

  • can i take the stock 2.0 S/C engine and make it 2.4 with a stroker kit or the 2.4 rods/pistons ? Also how can i improve the cooling (can i change the intercooler?) thanks

  • heyy nice car dude what tunning setup did u go with?? cause thats were im stuck at dude its horrible and really expensive do u kno what would happen if i dont tune mine? any info would help

  • wow reading these comments makes me wheep for humanity

  • To SMG Autosports:

Did you use the factory 2.4 PCM? Or did you get an LSJ PCM? Was this dyno after tuning? just curious.

  • did u have to change the manifold and where did you get the supercharger im about to buy a cobalt.due to my berreta breaking down

  • take it out on the road and then tell me stories

  • My 6 speed Cummins Dodge will smoke all your piss ass little cars, and run them over too...

  • small dick, we know.

  • amen lol

  • @novemberdelta241 and your commenting on his video why?

  • gm rocks dodge need to work on something

  • Oh you mean those slow Turbo Diesal engines? We own you. Sorry. I will admit though, I've had some fun racing you guys in my earlier days! Its always funny to see those big things get up and go! ..Hahahaha! Its like seeing a fat kid run a marathon! So Mr "Cummins Dodge".. Make sure to do your homework before posting. Times have changed!

  • TC cobalts W/ only a trifecta tune make well over 300 WHP look it up. so NO sleasy01 cobalts are not the worst, the cobalt SS/SC time attack beat the nissan skyline's best time on the street tuner challenge time attack on 7/21/05 by SEVEN SEC.!And there's a 2.2L drag racing cobalt making 1400 HP you stupid FUCK, it's on youtube so check your info before you come in here talking shit when you know you drive your mom's corrolla with a FART CANNON stupid ricer!! LOL GM 4 life BIATCH!

  • i got your comment in my inbox, but it shows "Comment removed by author" on here. im no ricer though. what i said to the other guy was true. im not a hater of cobalts either. i was just stating facts. its not the only comment i made to him though. but im not being an ass about this. so im just expecting an adult response if you come back.

  • man u sit here and defend this pos car as if it's worth to even post on youtube. everybody does the same thing with this pos car. yall pick the best times that yall see and run with it. its how many cobalts out their that break 10 seconds. i bet its very very few. and i bet its not an easy achievement either. better yet im sure u have one what type of power does your put down????

  • dude.. your right but you have to remember.. wtf do you own some car that you have dumped 30 000 plus into, picked up a 2010 Cobalt SS ordered like 23000+ brand new. How can you beat that? Full warranty.. 260hp and is so nicely moddable. You can buy a new evo for well over 30000$ and you cant touch the SS

  • @BlairGray0410 my evo beats the ss all the time even from 50 rolls lol

  • @BlairGray0410 im not trying to get in an argument cuz personally im a german car kinda guy buuut idk how u think an evo wont touch an ss....sure it cost a few thousand more. but dollar for dollar an evo's eating up a supercharged cavalier anyday. you put the extra 6g's in the ss its gonna keep up 4 sure but all the evo needs is software and boost controller and then its goodbye ss. evos can boost at least 28lbs on the stock turbo which is pretty rediculous.

  • very true sir, you speak truth!

  • How much was your total cost for everything?

  • wow.. what a waste. Who ever built it = garbage. Next time upgrade to some forged aluminum pistons =300bucks and u can safely go up ton 300hp . or go buy a Ecotec build book it shows u how to get 400hp easy mode. trans wont handle 400hp

  • why bash them, if you dont like it, go build your own.

  • lol yeah 300 bux... plus rings... plus machining... plus labor... yeah only 300 bux.... good idea... the pistons can take moderate levels of boost. Not everyone looks for 400hp. Honestly I have a 2.4 cobalt and Id love 200hp to the wheels muchless nearly 230hp. If I wanted 400hp id build something rwd.

  • nice job guys. thats how you do it! you dont buy the one already supercharged, its all detuned and we all know theres no replacement for displacement. bet that shit rides out! I wonder if its a 5speed manual?

  • my 07 2.4 will own all of ya

  • why didnt you just buy the one thats supercharged allready ??

  • WOW my 09 TC still OWNS this little punk

  • my 09 SI would own ur TC!

  • the cobalt ss/tc has 260hp and like the same torque, unless you're really built you should. i have a feeling my k20 swapped, 2000 civic coupe with only intake and header may hang with the TC after seeing the speedo move on one during WOT on some videos here. but i know for a fact i can take this one no problem in the video with just my 200hp and 142tq from the factory, and whatever my intake and header may have done for so little. haha. either way. cool vid. doing something different is nice.

  • Highly doubt you could take a 2.4L supercharged balt. I raced a friend of mine in my 2.0L SC, and he has a '96 integra with a B18C swap done to it, and my car outpulled the hell out of it. I've also raced a '95 Civic hatch with the same motor swap, and once again, smoked it.

  • i should atleast even hang with a turbo SS wwith my swap i i smoke the SS S/C from starting 2 cars behind them. ive raced 3 so far, all with the same results. k20a2, or k20z1, z3, or k24a2, or a k24 with k20 head with 6spd tranny will smoke a stock SS S/C swapped into a civic like mine, or older. those motors are faster than your friends motors. i smoked a B18C civic with cams, i/h/e supposedly making 208hp he said.i doubt theres that much a difference with the 2.4 balt.

  • ricer talk......

  • Comment removed

  • haha stock for stock it dont.

  • it said stock numbers 149whp um they come with much more then that stock, unless this was the ss/na model all cobalts ss come either supercharged or turboed nless its the n/a

  • why the m62????? shoulda bought a tvs...

  • i want that supercharger kit so i can pit it on my cobalt 2.4. can u find the kit for me and tell me what the price will be on it?

  • Comment removed

  • I don't give a fuck if its a compact car or not MADE IN THE U.S.A, AMERICAN FUCKING MUSCLE.

  • What kinda gas mileage you getting?

  • can you please tell me how much all of this costed?

  • how far are you guys from new bedford? im from new bedford

  • whats the name of that song thks:) nice car

  • thats funny because bob lutz came out and said the ecotec engine in this model is one of the strongest 4-cylanders EVER made.

  • Too bad you no longer have warranty

  • isn't the ss supercharged a 2.0L?... the SS non supercharged is the 2.4

  • he added the supercharger

  • I love the Honduh fanbois in here talking shit. What are your torque numbers BTW? And let's see 21 psi on your motor with the stock CR. Oh wait... you can't.

  • awesome build u should run my lsj sometime

  • Cobalts suck dick Motor Trend: The F35 five-speed isn't as fluid or precise as others in the segment, namely the Civic Si's. The electric power steering is linear but lacks the tactility of, say, a Mazdaspeed 3's. The interior, with its hard plastic accoutrements, still screams econocar, despite new seats with UltraLux suedelike inserts. And there's some torque steer, even with GM's best trickery with electronics and suspension geometry.

  • You do realize that FWD cars with the power of the SS will inevitably have torque steer right? Funny how you listed the cars ONLY shortcomings. What's funnier is that C&D and R/T have something completely different to say about the steering and trans. (although we all agree the interior is lacking).

  • Hey mustang..... in the Oct 08 issue of Motor Trend, they took the SS and 9 others to the Mazda Laguna Seca Raceway in Cali. A professional racing star (Randy Pobst) had this to say about the SS's steering:

"A lot less steering response than some other front-drive cars I've been in -- it can feel a little bit numb -- but the steering is linear, with no play, so you have good control."

LOL looks like this was MT's way of printing a retraction for the older article you read.

  • Why'd you remove your Nurburgring comment? I know, it's because other cars have done better. It was the best when it first came out, but it was beaten in a short amount of time. The New skyline beats it bitch

  • First of all, dont call me a bitch. I have not insulted you. Furthermore, I wanted to quote what other sources had to say about the SS, but I figured I should keep it with MT seeing as how that was our topic. The Cobalt SS SET THE RECORD for the Nurburgring for FWD cars (by over 13 seconds!!!). A skyline is not FWD. Yes, I would hope the 80K+ skyline would beat it lol. There are a lot of more expensive cars it beat too, but for FWD, it is the record setter. PWNED.

  • how much is the new skyline asshole??? and done you mean gt-r?

  • lol ok find us the best time for the ring with a stock civic vs the best time for a stock cobalt on the ring. OK done with that? Ok now also find the 1/4 mile times for both cars. Ok done with that? Ok now look up the reliability ratings of that precise fluid like 6 spd in the SI. ok done with that? Now look up the reliability rating of that F35 transmission.

    Ok now shut up!

  • What is it with all these ricers thinking American cars are not good track cars? Nürburgring results show the Cobalt SS/TC way ahead of the S2000 and Civic. Not to mention at the top of the list is Viper and Corvette above the legend GTR.

  • @rexoverbey Not to mention the CTS-V

  • @rexoverbey fuck those slant eyed little dick gooks :)

  • @rexoverbey hondas es para jotos.... minitoys...... american muscle cars.... only best.......

  • Comment removed

  • No, no it wouldn't. You might wanna look into ricing...i mean racing an aveo tho. You'd be able to win that race.

  • Yours piece of shit SS is only 260Hp on like 12PSi I can get 292 on 6PSI with my Civic Si bitch

  • good for you retard!!!!! im getting 305 from my ss with 21 psi and im running 12.9's at the track keep talking shit online it will make you cooler!

  • haha 21 PSI, My bros RSX, with the same size engine and no direct injection get's 292 Crank HP 252 wheel with only 6 PSI. Chevy sucks as building engines. If he had 21PSI you'd be far behind him bitch.

  • and then pop goes the k20.

  • better than your ecotech piec eof shit

  • you are a ricer.

  • Ya maybe but what rpm is that at 6500? cuz its a v-tech and it sucks, and howmany times have you blown getting tuning right? the ss/tc can break 300 easywith a good tune intake and cat-back. what all do you have on your fart can? garanteed a hell of a lot more than that!

  • More mods for a Civic than a Cobalt bitch Vtech is more advanced than GMs vavle timing bitch

  • dont reply to that guy, he has no car, he goes around video to video dissing peoples cars. Its just some stupid kid

  • break 300? your fucking retarded

  • your retarded! why dont you learn something about the car your bashing so you dont look stupid in front of so many people. My friend has a ss/tc that has Only charge piping and a trifecta tune making 310 at the wheels!

  • oh shit, i feel retarded now cause i thought you meant mph hahahahahahahahahahahahaha

  • Didnt break 300 dumbass it was 224!

  • Great now find how much that stock K20 can hold. The LNF (2.0L SS turbo motor) has held over 500 fwhp on a stock longblock. Oh not to mention the SI doesnt come with a turbo so great compare a stock care to modified... Also retard psi is simply a measurement of pressure you can compare completely different brands of motors by psi...

  • you're a cool little kid who thinks he knows everything. bravoooo!!! im not talking about a new SI. my sivic is a 2000 civic coupe EX. a k20 comes NA, where an SS/SC or SS/TC isnt. and if i turboed my k20, the stock block can handle up to 500-600 whp. i know about PSI. i dont know if your comments are toward me, but i only got one from you and its deleted by the author. i dont care. you kids on here take it like im hating when i clearly say "IM NOT HATING".

  • Wasnt directed towards you. Though you say stock block. But does that also mean stock internals? Btw the civic you have is the only body style si ive ever truly liked and with a good K20 swap is a pretty formidable car on the street. My comments were directed to MustangMikeca.

  • oh, well then my bad. yes, i believe its all stock internals as well. theres been info on k20a org about the acura RSX-S motors handling 500-600whp on stock blocks. im sure there is videos on here somewhere too.

  • actually 500 fwhp bent all the rods.

  • lmao against a twin cam ecotec supercharged? that civic would b eating the rocks that get spit from the cobalts front wheels, all youd see is taillights. if your so into trashing american cars why is ur name MUSTANGmikeca?

  • I'm just trashing GM cars I like the Focus

  • are you seriously telling me that a ford focus is better than a 2008 cobalt ss??? ur fucked man, seriously

  • The Focus has won more awards

  • who gives a fuck what the critics think, cant you think for yourself you asshole, seemingly not. its not what others think of it its about what you think of it. i dont buy a car thinking that if people arent going to like it or not. i buy a car because i like it. i dont give a fuck about lowlife jealous assholes, and i especially dont give a fuck about you. go do something with your life, being a 27 year old on welfare and all.

  • Since when did that mean a damn friggin thing?

  • The focus is making 160 at the crank not the wheels, meaning like 140 at the wheels on a good day!

  • Am I supposed to beimpressed that it's an ecotech?

  • saves gas and kicks your stangs ass.....so yea you should haha

  • @nitrousxxxcam i'm just trashing the cheap, low resale piece of shit Cobalt

  • hey mustang mike ...would u just shut the fuck up with ur japanese piece of shit u punk ass selfish mutherfucker ..u go on every fucking video and pisse people off so listen to me shut ur pc off, and go suck on ur mamas tits a bit while ima be fucking ur sister thanks and get the fuck out of here

  • wait I thought the 2.4L had 170hp for stock?

  • Hey skinchen.. You're not completely wrong on ur assumption. Its 170hp at the crank! Not at the wheel. :) The HP numbers you make on a dyno is what you're really putting down out there on the streets. Make sure to educate anyone else that doesn't know this. I usually minus 25hp on average to what vehicle manufactures say their vehicles make unless otherwise stated by dyno numbers.

  • yeah das right, and with RWD, the loss is much more than FWD, normally anywhere from 50hp up to 90hp through the driveline, like in the GT-R

  • That's awesome! Where did you get the Supercharger kit from?? If its not a kit, could you send me the sites and info on where to get the parts needed for the build? One more thing.. will it work on a Auto SS 2.4??

  • all said and done, how much did u spend to supercharge ? im looking to do it on my 2.2L

  • Nicely done, I'm trying to sell my M62 to a G5 GT owner atm. Still running strong? I wanted to do it on my 2.4 Balt but compression scared me off of it.

  • I'm the owner of this vehicle. Just put on a clutchmasters fx300, fidanza flywheel, and a 2.7 pulley. Good times.

  • I beat one of these hunks of junk with my turbo charged tercel

  • You rammed into it right?

  • Please correct me if I am wrong, but I thought the Cobalt SS came with a 2.0l Supercharged engine from the factory. With 205 hp and 205 lb.ft torque. Did they change to the 2.4L at some point? I got a 2005 taurus SEL sleeper with 345/360lb to the front wheels. Of course, I had the tranny built up and 3" borlas out the back, but all in black, no cats. Nothing extra on the outside but the dual exhaust. 3.0L 12v, no room to this with the duratec 24v. You should see the look on peoples faces.

  • Yes the cobalt ss/sc does come factory supercharged...however.. this car as an N/A SS cobalt...a little bit less expensive model with the 2.4L N/A motor. This swap was taking a factory 2.0L blower and setting it up on the 2.4L and with only 7-9 psi the car responded well. keep in mind also.. the factory 2.0L cars turn about 12psi stock with this blower. Thanks for the comment.

  • Did you put lower compression pistons in? I assume you had to tune it?

  • Hey. was just wondering. You only commented that you slapped on the roots. Did u not also use the rail, injectors pcm, or was there a re-program. I have an 07 and iam building up the same get up. Thanks. If theres anything helpful u came across it would be cool to know. Keep up the good work

  • does anyone know how much horse the 2.4 can take before things start breaking??

  • 300 is pushing it, its not really the HP you need to watch out for, its the torque. 280 seems to be a safe number, the GM catalogs list all the engine parts tolerances.

Smgautosports, what kinda hp n tq you get after this?

  • i see. i was planning on camming mine along with valvesprings. then start boosting but havent made a decision of which forced induction to do.. and a whole lot of tuning!!!

  • The pistons are only good to 300 tq I belive. Theres something in there that needs to be accounted for but I can't remember. The camshaft and crank are both good for 350 I belive.

  • Im not too sure where your getting this info.

I have a turbocharged 2.4 cobalt pushing over 300hp/tq. The solstice guys with the 2.4 have pushed over 400whp..on STOCK INTERNALS.

  • Yeah until something breaks. If you read GM's specs on certain parts, certain things are only good to a certain tq rating. A lot of it is around the 250-300 tq range.

  • that is sick fred cant wait to get some footage of my car here for ya.

  • How mnany hours was this job???

I work at a shop, and a bud wants to do this....did yall have alotta difficulties??

  • what did you use to tune it?

  • Great work guys! I wonder though. Why does this setup not make anywhere near what the hahn system does (264hp/275tq) at the same psi? Is it tuning? Or just the fact that the SC takes a little more from the engine?

  • Definitely cause the supercharger takes more power to be turned than a turbo setup. Thanks for the question tho.

  • this was a stock 2.4L SS Cobalt that we put a complete lsj supercharger setup on. This car since our build of it for our customer has been driven over 10,000 miles with no major issues. The 175 hp numbers for the 2.4L are at the motor not at the wheels. The 150hp numbers we saw were at the wheels.

  • i wonder if the 2.4 can handle that supercharger as good as the 2.0

  • im jealous.. i own the SS SC.. and i wanted a 2.4L SC engine.. to be equal to a SRT-4 2.4L Turbo :P

    Nice..!

  • stock cobalt ss sc's can beat srt-4's stock of course

  • i didnt.. and i have intake and hp tune.. he had stage 1 +++ goodies

  • Dude, stock SRTs will rape the SS.. I love SSs, and I love SRTs, not hating on either, but compare apples with apples and plums with plums.. SRTs are untouchable next to SSs.
