What was the reason to invade Irak if it wasn't the oil?
I'm not trying to argue with you, I'm just asking because I just don't know any other reason and I want to know what were those other reasons. I'm just only asking for info. don't get me wrong.
My mom saw you on Lawrence O'Donnell and sent me an email saying she saw somebody on Lawrence O'Donnell talking about P4A. Dude! You're great! The first youtube channel I have subscribed to based on a recommendation from my mom.
I've watched so many of your videos within the past I don't know hours -- I took a break for sleep, I don't know, it's Winter Break, so sleeping schedule is off -- and I would just like to simply say that I admire you. Even if you did make that crack about people major in mass comm who just actually want to become authors.
2) You're going to see a lot more private military companies used, for the reasons you named, plus it makes better PR than having the actual military there (until people catch on of course).
3) I don't believe we've seen any oil benefits yet. I'm actually hoping we do. Not that it would justify the war. But our economy will need higher supply when inflation hits.
@evmoneyTV We haven't seen any oil benefits YET. Our relationship with Iraq still has a way to go before we can leverage it the way we do Saudi Arabia, but I don't forsee that lasting forever.
It's interesting that you mention the PR implications of private military contractors, because it was sort of a PR nightmare for Bush/Cheney as people caught onto what was happening. I guess we've gone back to not paying enough attention to Iraq, so they can get away with it.
i subscribed during p4a when we were all watching your video and had my doubts at the time but i don't regret it at all now. your videos are amazing and keep it up!
Wow! This was a great video! I found your channel during P4A also and I'm really glad during the commenting madness that I hit subscribe. This was a very interesting and informative way to talk about the privatization of the military.
I found your channel during P4A. I just wanted to thank you sincerely for making this video. It's not exactly a "popular" subject, but it's very important, and I can tell that a lot of effort went in to it.
Pausing a moment to say: Thank you for taking a moment to include those who have lost limbs in the war. Because people always count those who have given their souls to our nation's security, not those who've given their lives.
@MegaKiller4ever Your comment doesn't make much sense to me... But if I'm guessing correctly, you mean "Iraq didn't attack America, so we can't say that the armies were fighting for our nation's security". Well, not just the Iraq war, but also other wars as well.
@djlegacy96 Okay, that was slightly uncalled for. How do you know I'm not Muslim? And I'm sorry for those civilians who have been killed as well, but they are counted, at least in a general sense of Civilian deaths during war.
@djlegacy96 But you found out about those numbers somewhere, didn't you? My point is that civilian deaths are still counted. I don't hear about x-number of soldiers wounded, or scarred, to the point of being unable to live the life they had before they went to war.
The privatisation of military operations is such an important topic. It’s shocking how many people barely realise what is going on. In my opinion it is extremely dangerous to democracy because there is almost no control over PMCs. Rules of market do not apply here because there are no competitors waiting. So there is always a dependency on specific companies. Thank you for creating this video.

@freezie656
not really,
911 = 2,996 deaths look at the publicity.
58.014 Civilians killed as a result of U.S-led military actions afghanistan
do you see this on the news?
all the terrorist organizations put together dont have
anywhere near the civilian body count the us has
yet you appreciate the people doing the killing getting sympathy

Another great video and really important topic. You make getting educated fun! I really look forward to Wednesdays now. So proud!
nickpuschak 2 months ago
A guy named TheMelianDialogue schooled me on mercanaries.
He basically said that a mayor problem is that there are local PMCs that are basically made up of the old war lords of the region.
Not only American soldiers go into PMCs - Afghani and Iraqui warriors go into PMCs in their own countries.
So you have to hire these local PMCs if you want to ship good through their territory and if you dont - you get a "surprising" ambush.
It's basically blackmail and you give money to known criminals.
HaploidCell 2 months ago
@HaploidCell I think I have said "basically" enough for today ^^

Your videos are well made - almost look like professionaly produced.
And I say "almost" because professionals wouldn't have that much fun doing their jobs ^^
Every time I see one of your videos I also hear it (I know: magic, right?)
And it always leaves me with
a) new information and
b) a craving for the music I just heard.
So what is that music in your Thank you Dance?
I KNOW I KNOW IT. I just dont remember!
