I love this episode.. Now I wish I could find the episode where Frank and Edna got married they also had gospel music for that episode where Frank and Edna got married at a black church it was wonderful so if you love this one you will love that one too
This is the only moment from Laverne and Shirley that I remember, at all. I always sing this song, and nobody knows where it is. I'm constantly telling people that they're going to a place where they can sit down.
The first lady to sing is my aunt michelle, and the one with the glasses is my mom and the smallest one is my other aunt, there the greenwood sisters, i didnt know this was on youtube but cool.
Laverne was on death row because she decided to participate in what turned out to be what was a bank robbery (the radical group {supposedly based on similiar groups of the 1960's} that the character SNL alumni, Larraine Newman's character, Shelley Berman was part of -- had set Laverne up -- Laverne only wanted to get from the bank a complete set of the dinnerware). Later after the group, including Laverne, was arrested Shelly convinced Laverne that they should pretend to be other prisoners.
Unfortunately the other prisoner names Shelley had come up with for them turned out to be wanted for murder! So, therefore the Laverne on death row episode. (It was the second part of a two-parter that was probably the best episode of that very awful eighth & final season). I have thought that if the show had somehow been renewed by a struggling ABC into a ninth season, that perhaps the show's name could have been changed to "Laverne & Shelley" w/ Larraine Newman joining the cast.
i remember this song so well, but for some reason i thought she had actually made it to heaven and the women were angels with wings. anyway, i very much so remember that song.
i guess it'll be appropriate to say the phrase "BIG LIPPED ALLIGATOR MOMENT".
but all and all, i enjoyed that scene i lol'd to the floor!!

How come the hair styles and the women with the glasses look so MODERN?????? They didn't look like that in the 1960s.
