  • this is 1966 season the 1965 season has outdoor shot in closing credits.

  • I watch this every morning >.< I've been late just so I could watch the end lol

  • Daniel Boone was a man, he was a BIG man. And when he pulled out his penis he could tie that thing in a knot...DANIEL BOONE!

  • When I was about 11 my lil brother taught me the racist version of the song and its another one of those things that as a black person I should have been offended but back then we sung it a lot too.

  • @joho804 Pity there's such a thing. I don't know that version -nor wanna know. Daniel Boone is a great remembrance of my childhood and in no way would like to change it.

  • @joho804...At least you're honest about it...funny that you sang it. I've never heard that version and my brother taught me alot!

  • 4 Mexican soldiers disliked the video.

  • Thanks for posting this.

I remember watching the later seasons (1967-70) of this show with my family. We would watch this'll NBC then turn to ABC for

    Bewitched & That Girl

  • Thanks for including the ending credits too.

  • daniel boone was a man,yes a big man, but the bear was bigger and he ran like a ...... up a tree.

  • I don't think the Indians Boone knew acted like Spock, either.

  • This is my grandfathers favorite show.

It's so classic, not to mention the show that launched Fess Parkers career.

  • I loved Daniel Boone. I love history too! Except I don't think he roamed Kentucky with a Harvard educated Indian!

  • Daniel Boone is a man he's a big man, but the bear was bigger so he ran like a n****r up a tree

  • Do you think he really chopped that tree in half with one throw?

  • Got to respect a man who wears a dead animal on his head, I love it! I would love to walk into PETA's office wearing a coonskin cap!

  • I am realated to Daniel Boone

  • @ericjr836 he is on my mothers side of the family

  • I don't think that your show could be classified as a western in those days unless Slim Pickens guest starred in it!

  • I loved this show when we were boys. We sang a mock theme song to this show. It was...

    Daniel Boone was was man

    He was a big man

    Except a bear was bigger

And he ran like a ******

    Through the woods!

  • this is 1966 not 1965 . 1965 had outdoor shot in closing. it was 1966 they went to this closing.

  • Where can I get a tomahawk/hatchet that can split a tree trunk like that?

  • This has got to be the gayest theme song I've ever heard in my life. A bunch of guys singing your praise? Daniel Boone was a man? A BEEEEEEEIG man? Seriously? WOW.

  • @firegod001 back in the 60's when you said you were gay it meant happy!

  • RIP Fess Parker

  • Daniel Boone is a man, is a big man, but the bear was bigger so he ran like a nigger up a tree lol :P.

  • @chemistryizcool this show came on the tv yesterday and during the opening intro song my mom piped in saying the bear was bigger so he ran like a nigger up a tree :D

  • daniel boone licked mlotsa pussy in his day

  • Mary Boone Bryan is my great grandma, she was the sister of Daniel Boone she married William Bryan and Daniel married Rebecaa Bryan. (Played by Patrica Blair) The DAR has a monment erected to her and her leadership of the women in the Siege of Bryans fort. Daniel was about 5'7" or 5'8" but he was man. Nice to remember him.

  • @progressiverebel Wow!,it must be great to have such History in your family.I was reading about Kit Carson just yesterday and he was about 5ft. 6ins., nice to know that you don`t have to be tall to be a hero.

  • @serberious .... Many Americans have well known relatives thanks to Holloywood. Davy Crocketts father was at the Battle of Kings Mountain and lots of the family was there Check out your own people, I suspect that your a direct descendant of Brian Boru. My Irish people are the Beatties of Kilashandrae and the Cairnes family of the Battle of the Boyne. Even John Wayne is my 9th cousin. Kit Carson was a small man but a great one. Read George Macdonal Frazier. Read Flashman and the Redskins.!

  • @progressiverebel Great information! According to Wikipedia, Daniel Boone also never wore a coonskin cap! Heh! But I'm certain that the TV series is true to the spirit of the history of Daniel Boone, if not the letter, and that's the most important thing. Thanks for sharing.

  • My social studies teacher played this in out class few days ago

  • Pat Boone is the great - x's 7 - grandson of Daniel!

  • My favorite version of the theme; I plan to start rewatching this show that I've not seen in over 40 years. I've a hankering to see this frontier drama again after all this time. And thanks also to Daryn Hinton, Darby's sister, for her prolific uploads of the show, among others. I can see why Fess Parker was like a real dad to you guys! I didn't like the later jazzed up theme but it was still an excellent show and I found uploads of the last episode to be particularly touching. Good job to all!

  • Durn! I grew up with this guy. And I ended up marrying one of Boone's descendants!

  • me and my brother have those names, DAVID and DANIEL

  • YEAH 16 2 ;D WHT is epic

  • Vera Matson the co-author of this theme was also Elvis' partner in the song 'Love Me Tender'.

  • Hey, smexyrobby, that wasn't funny when I first heard it (sometime about 1966) and it isn't funny now. The "Daniel Boone" tv episodes had story lines and characters that depicted blacks and natives in positive roles--at a time in America when this wasn't the norm. In this respect, "Daniel Boone" was a true pioneer.

  • I hate todays society thats not even the real song its censored because the whole racial tension..... it goes "Daniel boone was a man, he's a biiiiig man......, but the bear was bigger, so he ran like a nigger, through the trees

  • @smexyrobby Mark Twain, author of the censored Huckleberry Finn, is working on the "nigger" problem -- big time.

  • Fess Parker was my great uncle and one of the most amazing people you could ever meet. Marcy and the family are doing well. I miss him but right before he died he smiled. He had a wonderful life and was always grateful for it. The family is still sending us bottles of wine for Christmas, but this time they forgot the rum cake. When I was younger and couldn't drink alcohol I loved eating that cake. It dripped with rum and made me feel so cool. I'm rambling. Love you, Fess! Thanks for everything!

  • Old Dan'l be rollin in his grave is knew how well we Americans are takin care of each other today. The frontier dangers have been replaced with the selfish teabagger mentality of everyone for himself.

  • daniel boone may have been a big man but I heard the bear was bigger

  • wish there were more people like this man!! the world would be in better shape!

  • the music, the instraments, this is what captures me.

  • what episode is this from?

  • RIP Fess Parker

  • daniel boone was man a big man, but the bear was bigger so he ran like nigger up a tree.

  • my grandparents watch this show all the time... (:

  • Does anyone know the episode in which Yaphet Kotto plays a slave Supervisor?

    Thanks.

  • I've had this song in my mind all day...weird. I must have been a real little girl when my family watched this. I was born in the mid 60's. Fess Parker just died this year, on my dad's birthday, March 18, 2010.

  • @missygirl521 Tell your dad he's got a good birthday. My girlfriend Rachel's birthday is March the 18th too. I remember this show and the theme song when I was a kid too. I was born in 1960 and I remember Daniel Boone used to come on TV on Thursday nights when I was little.

  • Keep up the goof against them redskins.

  • also aired on retro television (rtv)

  • I havent seen that tree chopping thing in all these years. Thanks so much!

  • I remember this! We used to sing this when we were kids, but we had different words. Our version went, "Daniel Boone was a man, was a BIG man...but the bear was bigger so he ran like a nigger through the woods."

  • @YinzRallJagoffs

Yeah, we sang that version in Minnesota too. What a bunch of ignorant racist little bastards we were then.

  • @ryoushii when I was little, every time I heard that from a white kid..i would punch him in the face.

  • Awesome theme - a fav TV show !!!!!!.

  • RIP Fess!

  • Davy Crockett was before my time but I remember Daniel Boone when I was a kid in the '60s. Too bad the kids today don't have shows like that to watch. We were truly blessed. Thanks 'ol Fess.

  • @ronboy38 II ws born in 59. It's sad that kids of today are so different.

  • @ronboy38 Yeah shows like Beaves&ButtHead what we get now

  • @ronboy38 I'll say Davy Crockett was before your time. LOL... He was before everyone's time, unless they're 150 years old.

  • Yeah, It was called the Frass Canyon Winery in the movie, where Paul Giamatti got so desperate for a drink he guzzled out of the spittoon, LOL.

  • RIP Fess Parker.

  • Meir is one coon short of a coonskin cap.

  • A mild hurricane season is a sign that Meir is an assite.

  • Oh my goodness! It's in color!

  • ed ames= stereotypical hollywood indian,,he was born to russian jewish parents,,

  • Infelismente a TV Brasleira tomou outros rumos suprindo exelente programaões com que tinha, com coisas futeis até prejudicial ao pudor famíliar.

  • how many episodes of daniel boone from third season didn't have the this picture made under the jurresdiction of IATSE affilliated with afl-cio in closing credits did they have that in the third season when did they have it again in what season

  • @GOOSEYGOOSE9 It would help if you could spell, and give us a good idea of the question you are asking. Hmmmm...It would be easier to answer.

  • Actually, the closing credits in this clip were used from 1966 until the end of Daniel Boone's run in 1970, b/c in the 1965-66 season, the closing credits were shown over shots of the river and forests in color.

Also, the 1965-66 season used a slightly revised version of the vocal-singing closing theme tune.

Also the copyright year says 1966.
