Weren't the first Apolllo cockpits shaped like a Bell ? I'm surprised this connection hasn't been brought up. With Von Braun joining Nasa to help develop a spaceship, my guess is that the Bell -De Glocke - was going to be the ship of choice. My father had a copy which I read several times 11 1/2 x 8 1/2 about a inch thick with a heavy bond grey and white cover. Whether disinformation or real sightings these reports have shown up on TV.
