@moshfairy83.. i have a japanese spitz myself & he sings too! lol except its when me & my boyfriend "howl" ..he gets up in our face licks us & starts singing along..its to cute, & your dog sounds just like him..lol sometimes i do think they are a bit annoyed by it..but then again my pup seems to enjoy it :) ...ur right..he's by far in "agony"...kornhiv666 doesnt know what they are talking about.
Reminds me of an old Pink Floyd song that was recorded on Live at Pompeii where one of the band members was playing harmonica next to a dog and the dog was lamenting (aouh, aouh, aouh)........He was obviously not enjoing the sound of the harmonica!
ugh... Theres always someone commenting about dogs ears... do you all really think dogs ears hurt from certain higher pitched sounds? If so then you might as well shoot every living bird that cherps outside while your dogs out taken a crap. And Sue the scientist who helped create the dog whistle so high pitched humans cant hear it, too.
Re: the whole "is he singing or not" debate... remember that dogs are highly social animals and some breeds even more than others. You can tell it's not "torture" because he voluntarily does it - he doesn't exhibit stress or try to hide or leave. He's being social, joining in, just as dogs who howl often will howl along with singers, piano playing, etc. will do. My own Samoyed/JS mix likes to listen to people sing, although he doesn't howl often himself (but he does talk a lot, just like I do).
Bought a harmonica at the local toy shop. harry howled when I first played it but doesn't give a toss now. The only interested one is my cat Moet who always comes in when I play it. Maybe he thinks it's the call to eat?
so cute! My jap spitz Whisky is now 4.5month, he's really naughty! He knows a lot of tricks and commands but he only obeys them when he is at home. I think he may have been a little troubled with the breeder because he came to us aggressive at 11 weeks, barking at all the noises and growling and showing teeth...but he's getting better
they're very creative so you won't get easilly bored and neither will they! mine is very clean, but it's a girl dunno if that matters ^^ the only con is that she doesn't obbey a lot :P
It's true they are a bit more difficult to train. Sebastian knows all the basic commands plus plenty of tricks like 'give me five', 'roll over', 'beg'.... but he's not particularly obedient. They bark and dig when bored. Consistence for everything when raising a pup. They are EXTREMELY affectionate though and bond quite closely to one person.
@moshfairy83 :o My japanese spitz is like the opposite to that. My dog's breeder said that they should not bark that much, and that they are easy to train. Did you buy yours from a kennel? C:
@ColinFernandoDrew Nah from a breeder, not that that's what makes a dog good or bad. Bas is well-trained, but I just found him a bit less attentive and needed more persistence than when training my boston terriers. I thought spitz's in general had a tendency to bark (just looking at german spitz's, pomeranians etc) ... but hey, each dog to their own.. glad yours is different, but I love mine
@moshfairy83 Not all that true . They're not difficult to train . I have a japanese spitz and every trick i taught her , she learned in less than 30 minutes . VERY smart . Lol , and yes your right tho about they bark . Mines barks a whole tun when shes over excited , when someone knocks and when some other dog is barking at her.
@hamsterscuties they are very picky eaters, and they tend to bark at people walking past the house. they are very affectionate. of course they need alot of exercise. you need to buy a metal type brush because they get dredlocks underneath the coat. people say they get really dirty cos their white but they clean themselves like cats, i only wash mine once every 2 months. you cant lock them up these dogs need to able to move around the house freely or outside? anyway i love my japanese spitz.
@hamsterscuties i bought the puppy from breeders just search on the internet ones closest to you. you can try at a pet store but i doubt the have one. yes i was very lucky these dogs are worth up to 1 grand and more but i got mine for 800 dollars with all the vacines already done. anyway i reccomend you look around on the internet to find breeders near you.
@NumberOneOtaku91 but i dont quite believe them... :D some are cheaters.... Mayb can you help me find some breeders or i can find myself! But i have not decided to buy or not so juz gif me the URL if you found the breeder.... :D My mums persuading my dad to let me but :) TQ!
@hamsterscuties i think we should talk through our channels and stop spamming this person, also i dont know where your location is?? so that would be a nice thing to know first come talk to me on my channel
I didn't know this breed existed till I met a man walking 2 of them at the Arts Centre Market in Christchurch. I fell head over heels in love with them. So that was fantastic that I have managed to get a pup. Get Harry this Saturday afternoon.
maybe you don't know, but when your dog is "singing",he is in agony because his ears listens to diferent types of frequence........he isn't singing.. -.-'
Its true dogs hear differently but they just have a wider range of frequency - they don't feel pain to high pitches. Bas is making noises at the lower pitches of the guitar tuner too.
lol. I hardly think he's in 'agony'. otherwise he'd just get up and walk away! Instead every time I use that thing he comes to join me.
Sure i know he's not singing, he probably does think it's annoying! But perhaps its the 'harmonica' sound rather than the pitch.
@kornhiv666 Actually, it's a reflex to certain frequencies, and they enjoy it. It's there so that they will respond to other canines howling in order to communicate and bond. The bonding feels good and fun for them.
he was hit by a car a few weeks before this and his leg was broken so yes, it was in a metal splint. he had to stay relatively immobile with it and was SO bored with it on, poor thing.. and i was procrastinating while studying for exams.... so this was the result of our combined boredom.....
I think you're hurting his ears for real.
