Thank you so much for this great lesson. I'd love to see you playing this masterpiece on stage, the alchemy way, with the quiet moment @ roughly 6:00, before the storm. I love this song.
Wow im Spanish and im a fan of Knopfler however dont know too much about flamenco style. I have just watched this video and i felt like " damn i got this incredible techniques just in front of my face for all this time..". It seems that the fusion of different styles/cultures always brings nice stuff :D

Dude. You have completely changed the way I view fingerstyle electric guitar.
Are there any particular exercises you can recommend for helping one build up a decent rasgueado? Also, are nails an issue? I know that some flamenco guitarists have long fingernails, are they necessary for this particular technique?
Maybe you can help me.. Im looking for a strat pickup with a very soft and creamy sound, wrongly I bought Texas Special wit appears to me the extreme oposite specially when loaded in a strat with maple fretboard and ash body.
What do you recomend? fender 54, fender 69 or dimarzio area?
It is not all original (e.g. the pickguard is not) so it is not a collector piece anyway. It was refinisihed with thick poly some time ago but sounded much better after stripping the poly finish. I got used to the wood look, I think you can refinish it any time, no hurry.
The rhythm figure is SO HELPFUL. Thank you so much for explaining that... I've seen you doing it in other videos and have been dieing to find out how you pull it off.
Good observations here concerning the flamenco influence on this classic song .
