This song got me clean after a 3 year meth addiction in 2001, I put it on repeat on my cd player and listened to it continually for 3 days. I owe Robin Trower my life.
I heard this in 1977 prior jumping on my first submarine in the U.S. Navy, had it on 8-Track tape.Remember those? They were "Great Too" I would lie in my bunk and put on the head phones and listen to this entire album. Five years later while on shore duty at Pearl I met my future wife of 26 years,a Southern Cal rocker girl from "The Valley" but had never heard Trower.I Played this song for her the first time we were intimate. She passed away 2 yrs.ago but she's up there listening to the 'Bluebird"
@RoadNasty Thanks, actually I do not have a clue in hell as to why I wrote that;I recently decided to check out the YouTube thing and decided to just see if anybody was still into Trower.I was amazed at all of the clips that are up on here and how many fans there still are.I was feeling a little blue but after I listened to the song it brought back some good memories. My wife was not the type that would want me to sit around and snivle;she was alright for a Valley Girl~*T*R*O*W*E*R*~*P*O*W*E*R*~
@yargnodrog I came here for a memory too but it wasn't as dramatic as your loss, mate.
All I was gunna mention was that Bluebird was the first song I made love to. Plenty of songs that I fucked to but this was a love making song!!! (P.S > I always coupled this with Led Zepp's Thank You . . . man, I could root for 10 minutes back then!!! lol
@Rus818 I don't get that Trower was so forgotten in the 70's that some of my freinds did not know who he was. But, i let them know. Now my good freinds knew, and we smoked weed every weekend. Too rolling stoned, great song
These guys where amazing. Beautiful. Love the line about the new born king. .....and for the dudes & dudettes commenting on the 70's -absoluty right!!! Much easier times to have a good time in.
Of all Trowers songs this one sticks in my head the most. Maybe its the pull off technique he is using, and the strat comming through. Someone made a decent video of this too. Trower for ever....
now this is Trower and James Dewar at their best. What a lovely voice, makes me think of a soft heavy snowfall in New York. wish they'd ade more songs like this in a way.
Saventry- Right On man. The 70's were definately the best. Best music ever. Best times, too. 30 cent drafts, Foosball, darts, air hockey, Four Finger Bags (cheap, too!)--so much better. GREAT concerts we could afford. Singers & Songwriters giving us so much of themselves. Yeah man. Those were the days. I'd go back tomorrow in a heartbeat. Rock On.
ROBIN TROWER'S MUSIC IS THE VOICE OF GOD SPEAKING TO THE HUMAN HEART. IT IS LOVE, JOY, PEACE; IT IS ETERNITY. I AM SO GRATEFUL FOR THE GIFT OF HEARING.
People forgot RT before Caravan and IC dreams. New music came out and Trower was thrown to oblivion. So these albums got into the "cheap trash" bins in the record stores and I found them. Lucky me! Got me really into the old stuff too which I wasn't so much into.
Sittin’ in the wood alone, On silver tree that turned to stone - Branches growin’ overhead; Make your house and feather bed. Shiny beak and shiny eyes, Join the winter paradise. Singin’ to the settin’ sun; Prayin’ for the day that’s done; Growin’ qui’ter as you watch the snow: fallin’ down – down - Down – down… If you want to know his heart, Listen… Listen to the bluebird sing… If I had a voice like thine - Melody like summer wine - From sunshine islands, I would bring Music to the King
is it qu'ter? or whiter? either would work for me. But maybe qui'ter is what that blanket of snow means, while whiter is what it does. just a thought.
omg.... all these years later, this still makes my eyes wet.
People who don't know the magical, heart-rending voice of James... are probably the same people who don't know the guitar sound of a true pioneer ~ Robin.
Was sitting here staring out the window listening to this, remembering way back when I first got it.My dog came in ,sat down next to me and we listened to it together. He had a look on his face like he knew how I felt? Thanks!
Thank you so much for posting this song. It was one of my husband’s favorites. He is no longer with us and this song reminds me so much of him and how he lived his life
My dear departed brother bought this album when it came out. We listened to it over & over. I can't help but think of him when I listen to this. I miss you Todd, this is for you.
i won't see it posted but.. i love todays music but and there is alot to choose from but their just seems to be alot more "soul" in this old stuff, blues, elecric acoustic, white or black. hendrix, trower, slowhand and their predecessors seem to have an ability to voice this genere of the blues better than anyone else
When I click on Trower, it's usually for his smoking hot live shows but today I clicked on this vid and WOW!!! Thank you so much for the visual collage of "silver trees that turned to stone w/ branches growning overhead," the winter paradise and of course the beautiful bluebird. Very moving and touching. RIP James Dewar.
Robin was not only very under rated guitar player but also song writer. He wrote so many classic rock jams and some of the most beautiful melodic songs. And with Jimmy's voice pure magic. Thanks for posting!
This sounds more like 'May this be Love' by Jimi...........also known as 'waterfall' off Are You Experienced. But Robin and Jimmy Dewar didn't rip of Hendrix...they were both huge fans as was Billy Lordan. They called Robin Lord of the Strings, Sly called Lordan Lord of the Skins and we all just call Gentleman James 'The Voice'...or GOD
Beautiful song . Jimmy Dewar was a huge vocal talent . Soul/blues/rock and gentler songs like this all sounded great . Also he seems to sing live as good as if not better than the studio versions and not many can do that !!!
I have not heard Robin Trower for years..and not sure I ever heard this reaLLy beautiFul tune...love you vision of it...my kind of production...thank you ~humminbird71~ for thinking of me on this..definitely to faves and MANYStARS♥
I have loved this song since i bought the original vinyl album. However, i moved and left it behind, my extreme thanks to the musically intelligent person that posted this jem! James voice at the end in interplay with trowers melodic guitar fills, pure magic.
I better comment I haven't heard this forever I just got a computer I have this on 33rpm I don't have a record player anymore I am glad I got a computer

I noticed "God" mentioned at least twice in the comments for this video. The amazing thing about God is that not only did God Create an infinite amount of brilliant naturally occurring vibrations, but we've been given the ability to tap into some of them with man made instruments. But God Created the ultimate instrument, the human voice, and then completed the project by Creating the ear. God loves music and therefore, so do we.
