@Wulfcott genius and madness is another thing.Euronymous was twisted,and not in the way you mean.Plus,I don't consider him as a genius.Not at all.I find Mayhem's music something not worthy of my attention.The only really good thing he accomplished was his solos.Yes,these are good.But there are many guitarists who can play good solos.Varg is a musical genius,not Euronymous.

I don't think Euronymous' murder divided black metal.There are people who like both Burzum and Mayhem.Of course there are other people who like only Burzum or only Mayhem,but that's a matter of taste.I,for example,like Burzum but I don't like Mayhem.That's because I like Burzum's music and lyrics more.I think that Euronymous was a really bad person,and I strongly believe that he had psychological problems.Plus,he wanted to kill Varg,too.And he'd do it in a much more violent and perversed way.

Personally I think burning churches in the name of Paganism would be based on an idea of revenge as it got wiped out by Christian forces long time ago... It would basically present the same meaning as all other religious hate-acts we face today... In modern times you'd "achieve" more (attention) of the media burning churches and saying "I'm a descendant of Odhin, Christians, leave my country to its roots!"

The answer to this is plain and simple: you can't argue about taste.
But if you want to hear my opinion: There's no other music that explores the extremes of human NATURE better than Black Metal. I feel many other kinds of music make me feel like an outsider in a world that I don't understand. Yet I have to get on with it.
