I would love to hear about muslims or people from their own community fighting against injustice and other wrong things. I only always hear Western NGO'S (Non governmental organisations) and help organisations give aid and solve problems in the world. But I know there are enough good organisations in those countries (like Acide Survivors Organisation) also but it is hard for them to work and exist without government help. Government should also support but it is hard if they are strict.
And most of all the people themselves should help! The ones causing it. Like you said, it is harder for organisations there to get help because they get less media coverage than let's say a Unicef or War Child but as long as they do what they can it is a step in the good direction. Peace!

Not exactly.. Islamic culture perpetuates an attitude towards women in which atrocities like acid-throwing are tolerated and are therefore more frequent. Christians are only slightly better in this regard. It's the more non-religious parts of Western countries where spousal abuse is lowest. BTW, Islam is mentioned in the video where they mention "Bangladesh". I hope one day these poor girls gain the political freedom (deprived by Islam) to put an end to this practice.

One of the accused happened to be Muslim, but this does not mean that we can assume his religion is to blame. It sounds to me more like the blame lies with patriarchal hegemony's implicit acceptance, and even approval, of violence and sexualized threat as a method of control...that, at least, seemed to be the interpretation of several of the interviewees.
