    Not "traditional". This was written by the late and great Ewan MacColl. Though I think you'd benefit from looking up the correct words as there are a few mistakes in there. The original makes more sense and are better lyrically.

    eg. "I found my love by the gasworks croft". Repeating "wall" is clumsy lyrically and not what macColl wrote.

    and "Spring's a girl in the streets at night". ie. "Spring is a girl in the streets at night". Warm weather and courting away from the parents etc.

  • Good version but it is neither Irish nor traditional. The songwriter was Ewan MacColl and it is about his home town of Salford whihc now forms part of Greater Manchester in England.
