  • lol for a second the title had me thinking we were gonna see how to repair a TV by USING a blinking LED ;p, but yeah, great vid, pretty sad how much people get ripped off for repairs like this when TV manufacturers DESIGN them to fail x.x

  • Hi, i have taken the back of my 50 inch plasma and can see the ones that have blown, how do you take them out, do you just pull them out. I've tried pulling one out but it seems to be stuck fast. I don't want to break it off and then have to replace the whole mother board as i've told my husband i can fix it. Also do i need to unscrew the mother board and detach all the electrical wiring plugs?

  • nice

  • I have a Toshiba 52" DLP HDTV model #52HM84 that comes on sometimes and somtimes not. think it could be a cap? nice vid.

  • @MAXKC1 i just worked on the model you speak of two weeks ago. what do the diagnostic LED codes on it say? user manual has led codes in troubleshooting section.

your lamp be be at EOL (end of life).

just google for the user manual, service manual is easy to find for this also.

have fun, taking this TV apart is HORRIBLE!

guessing from your username, you in KC? we service TVs in Boonville.

  • Best way to prevent capacitor exploding on PSU is using AVR (Automatic Voltage Regulator) or UPS (Uninterrupted Power Supply) as long as your TV is not overheating.

  • Ok so i did exactly what you did, replaced those two caps, and the tv did turn on, i got something on the screen. it was black and fuzzy. i couldnt get the side buttons to work for some reason, and the usb port on the other side wasnt working. idk what went wrong, i think there is one more bad capacitor but it is on a different board, if that one cap is not bad though, what could be causing this

  • @ThePhenom480 check all the voltages on the PSU. or just buy a new PSU board

  • I have an Akai PDP5073TM. A TV that I cant find much info on anywhere on the web. When I plug it in, both fans turn on for a second, an LED lights up on what I think is the main board then the fans stop and LED shuts off. About another 2 seconds later, they start again and LED shines again, then once again they shut off for good. No power to TV it seems. I have a domed capacitor on what I think is the ZSUS board. But only the one. Could that one capacitor cause this death issue?

  • My 50" plasma has some sort of flickering issue, though I'm not sure if that's how I should refer to it. It's like half of the screen moves up and down rapidly from time to time. What do you suppose the issue is there and how much would it be to fix it?

  • What if there no capacitor pop!?

  • Plasma TV's suck. They way overheat and have crammed in electronic panels for slim form. Electrolytic caps suck. There are hundreds of them in these tv's.

  • @Ibringthetruth1 Yeah. You can find a 40 year old oven temperature operating tube amplifier with perfect electrolytic caps. But a 2 year old 21st century solid state flat screen TV has busted caps.

    Irony... can't escape it.

  • Leave the power off for 2 days?!? Don't you guys know how to actively drain the capacitors?

It may not be a concrete solution in all cases, but the principle is sound.

Unplug any power plug or source from the device. Hold down the "power on" button or buttons needed to turn the unit on. This drains any available stored power and leaves the rest to the (now disconnected) power supply. I wouldn't bet my life on it, but I've saved more PCs than I can remember by using this method.

  • @dnooman Bleed resistors and active shutdown electronics can fail allowing capacitors to keep their charge many hours after shutdown. New sets use software switch. Requires standby power to work.

I have yet to encounter a problem of charged caps in my 30 years of electronics. Regardless, I am exposing people to high voltage capacitors in unknown failure situations. That is why I suggest 24 hours (1 day) for complete capacitor discharge by natural leakage. What's the hurry?

  • thank you sooo much i fixed mine with stuff around the house.

  • Hi i have a Samsung 42"plasma TV....PPM42H3 this model is discontinued

the power on light is blinking for about 10 seconds..then the screen comes on with vertical and horizontal lines then the TV dies..unplug and plug in same thing..i opened the TV ..all capacitors are good..what do i do next..or should i just toss it!!

  • @DunnDem How many blinks? With the back off the TV, heat the power supply board up with a hair dryer..... does the TV turn on then? Does it at least try to?

  • @gavincurtis damm! i just saw ur replay..okay i will try it today..

  • :o you just save yourself of buying another T.V. Thats the smartest thing iv seen all day !

  • Hey I have (2) 50inch 720p HD TVs and I have 2 problems i coul use help and advice with. 1st is with my panasonic, it works fine and everything, however. I dont get any video, sound or anything when I switch to the HDMI Inputs. I donget a thing, but any other input or TV channel Ill get. and then the other is a Zenith TV. every now and then a White line about a inch wide goes down the screen on 1 side and will stay for quite awhile and then leave. it goes down the whole screen. help please!

  • Sam - I just fixed my Samsung with those exact symptoms. Eventually it will stop working even after letting it sit. Wasn't too tough to do. But the video author is a bit wrong. If you can fit a higher VOLTAGE cap (physically) then use that. I did a 16v in place of my 10v cap that was blown. But do NOT get one soldered on that has a different capacitance or lower operating temperature.

  • i little board i pull out, a d board? has chips on it. well how do i replace. every think is in asian. would dusting or new thermal do anything. tv is frozen red dot without that board.

no light to gun when in. casue is tv was shut off while on over and over. no caps look busted. there was an old sllow deep hum on turn on when worked.

  • 3 blinks. was repeatly turn off while on at wall. now 3 blinks. strangle hum is gone. where shouls i look. the fuse looks perfect. those one weith drill piece in side.

  • My tv gets turn while still on at point over and over by some dick in my house. now it gives 3 blinks ver protection fault. basically did that cause it ? and given that information can you tell me where to locate fault? Also i read you can just press a special code on the remote and it will be fixed. id have to buy a harmony remote as my other harmony the screen is smashed. I can only do very basics. anything fine and tricky i useless. Also now the HUM on startup not as load. Pan TX CRT 80

  • Thanks for posting this video. I have a LG (Samsung) 42 inch plasma with the clicking on and off thing. It never clicks on but the LED "on" light comes on for a second and then the "off" red LED light comes on and it just does that back and forth until I pull the plug. If I unplug it for a few hours or overnight sometimes the TV will work again. Do these symptoms sound like capacitor issue? Any help is appreciated! --- Sam

  • hey gavin, i have a SHARP 32 LCD HDTV 720p that i bought in 2007 and earlier this year, a thin blue line (vertical) appeared near the right side of the TV. What can i do to try to fix the problem? what is the problem?

  • I have a Magnavox 42MF23ID Plasma. It has power and audio. There are muti colored pin lights on the far right screen. that's all that shows on the screen. I,ve looked for this problem in posts for 2 days and havent seen the same problem. What capacitors or other components control the screen? Please help.

  • Ok I watched this video and I replaced the capacitor but my hubby got a 1000w 35v instead of 1200w 10v.. When I did replace it and turned it on the flickering began again but before I replaced it the flickering stopped all together. What do you think could be the problem should I find a 1200w 10v or throw it out all together?

  • @tjanice63 Did the TV work better with the 1000uF 35V part than before? Is the part polarity correct? It is like a battery... a negative and a positive wire. If put in backwards, it will partially work before failing again.

Find a 1200uF or greater (10V or more). A 2200uF will be fine. Important is that the voltage and uF ratings are same or higher than original. If you go less, could be marginal and cause problems. It must be installed with + and - in proper order.

  • @tjanice63 NEVER change the uF(w is what you wrote for it) rating!!! ever! it has to so with timing. voltage rating must be same or higher and is better higher. but the capacity (uF) MUST BE THE SAME. if you dont have an EE degree dont do EE!! please, this is safety issue!

  • @MrMorbo420 You don't need to have an EE degree to do EE...most of the safety rules with EE are just common sense.

  • @QsoftStudios so then you are saying someone that refers to uF a uW must be qualified to re-engineer the circuit with any "uW" rating cap they find? it's fine that your ego must search for and point out a flaw in any comment i make. but, you are telling people that dont know the difference between uF, uH, or Ohm, etc. to make any substitution they wish and risk fire, electrocution or just plain old property damage.

im not sure what you were trying to accomplish but it was errant

  • @MrMorbo420 Ok ok ok gezzus calm down lol. I was only saying that you dont need to have a EE degree, dont need to write me a book :P I do agree tho that if thay dont know that you need to replace a cap with the same uF rateing thay shouldent be doing it in the first place.

  • @MrMorbo420 but like i said replacing a cap with the same capacitance rating is kind of just common sense.

  • @QsoftStudios tjanice63's statement "Important is that the voltage and uF ratings are same or higher than original." is dangerously misinformed. you may use a higher Voltage rating all you want, BUT uF must be the same unless there is a TSB declaring a change is necessary. see "flywheel circuit".

yes, you dont need to be an EE to work on electronics. but this is DANGEROUS MISINFORMATION...

im just trying to keep people from being killed. so contradict me for no good reason.

  • Wow he doesn't even make a video showing us how to replace it. If we just go experimenting we're gonna make the tv worse. Someone please make a video. I have a philips and it's doing click sound and turning off and on

  • @alexloco760 You need to take a picture of the power board, disconnect what is connected to the board and remove the screws holding the board on. Remove the board and replace the capacitors by heating up the solder on the back of the board and then soldering on the new parts and replacing the board and connections as shown in the picture you should take before starting.

  • I find that it goes from one extreme to the other. One says it will cost several hundred and replace the entire power supply. Then others will just replace the two caps that are bulged. You cant properly check a cap simply by examining the top or even checking it with an ohm meter. The cap needs to be checked with a capacitor tester. Specifically one that can test it for value and for ESR (Equivalent Series Resistance). I find many caps which might look OK that test poorly.

  • I got a Samsung PN50B650 and today the surge protector failed and then my TV wont power fully on. it tries to go on then it goes back off. keeps trying and making clicking sound while its doing that.. My capacitors look good, anything else before i replcace the power supply board?

  • i have Samsung SP R4212 it has some weird souns all the time that is on it is like a buzz similar to a 42 inch mosquito trapes inside the tv, it drivesme crazy

  • Thanks for the video. My Philips 42" plasma won't turn on, and I opened it up, looking for a blown capacitor, but I could not find any. I would be happy to purchase a replacement power supply board but I'm not finding a supplier easily. The TV repair places I can find in Chicago seem ill-equipped or shady. Is there an easy way to source parts for these TVs or do I have to drag the TV down to some shop?

    Thanks!

  • @benstorage1 Sometimes the bad caps are the film type, not cylinder ones and it is hard to tell by looking at them. I had this happen to my Insignia plasma which wouldn't turn on, and I found it had 2 dead caps and replaced those to get it working. I'm glad because I could not find a replacement power board anywhere, like you are saying. I have the video of the fix up on YouTube and I posted it here somewhere as a video reply but can't seem to find it...

  • Caps are easy, it when the mosfet for the z module blows that is bigger than an iPhone.

  • THANK YOU ! You just saved us some BIG BUCKS !

  • Ive git mine in bits 50 inch Plasma Samsung, i have identifed maybe 2 caps that are bulging but other than that it looks fine. Should i try the fuses? i can see 4, 2 are on the power mother board and 1 on a board to the side and 1 is on the oppistie side board. Ive got limited time to sort this. Any help would be greatley appriciated!!

  • i replaced the capacitors in a samsung a couple of weeks ago and still had the standby clicking problem found a website that said the eeprom had to be reset on some samsung models this was on the back of the main board found the eeprom and had to short circuit 2 of the legs while turning the tv on and release then with the remote went into the engineers menu and done a few settings as instructed and worked perfect after that

  • its a phillips

  • good guide

  • how do you know it is blown?

  • top of the cap bulges out

  • i also have a plasma 42 in Pioneer that is a few years old. I checked the capacitors and they all look fine, do you have any other advice for me or can you check out the power supply board because replacing the whole board is way to expensive :)...any help would be nice

  • @mets530 send me the power supply board and will test for free. Gavin Curtis, 2006 S Main St, Moscow Idaho USA 83843

    888-892-0764 ask for gavin

  • @gavincurtis wow. you amaze me. you are generous for offering to help mets530. not many people would be that generous. good on ya.

  • I have read that you can't just go by visual appearance to tell if a cap is ruined.

  • Would you have any recommendations for a cap that is over 10v? I cant find any panasonic EB ones on digikey over 10v

  • first question is mine is LCD. is it different from plasma.?

also my capacitor doesnt show a bulge, its flat top but it does have these black marker stuff on it..does it mean its blown?

  • The low quality caps are really typical in 90% of commercial electronics. It's intentional, they want the return business or salvage sales.

Digikey isn't all that great a source though. I find a lot of the same components for a fraction the price they tend to sell them at.

  • Dammit man! I just wanted to play my black ops!

  • This can be a problem beyond the capacitors. Even after replacing them, you can still have power off and on issues. I had to replace the motherboard at a cost of $220.00. It isn't a capacitor problem here, its the motherboard itself. Works fine for the first time in three months. I have chased Samsung over this issue and have joined a class action law suit in Tulsa Oklahoma because they refuse to admit to a defective motherboard. See my video at nvdwarriorLTC

  • @nvdwarriorLtc it indeed can be a problem beyond these capacitors. But typical failure is low voltage capacitors of the power supply.

  • @nvdwarriorLtc agree 100%. Plasma TV is much more complicated then what looks like.

  • Hey i found your vid helped me alot haha but i cant find the right capacitors i need one with 400 V, 300 uf and one with 1000 uf, 220 V they are both nichicon both 105 degree temp rating they have written on them GN(M) and im guessing the part number is C1019 with PET written under it. i cant find them anywhere could you help

  • Thanks for great video, this repair method worked for my 42" philips plasma. the 2 mentioned capacitors were no good. removal of the board was simple, i ordered the capacitors from digikey and had a tv shop perform the exchange for $20. TV is back to normal and operating great!!...Thanks again!

  • @jjgonzale :D

  • my panasonic quintrix f tv has no power? any idea how to fix it and whats wrong

  • My TV uses a ...119a power supply that is a late manufacture replacement upgrade in the middle of the production year. It does NOT have the 10v 3300uf caps that goes bad, but the TV still does shut down with a 7 red LED blink problem.

All voltages are fine except for the Ve which dropped down to 6 volts instead of 110. TV acts the same with SUS and buffer boards unplugged. What gives with this power supply? Why is the Ve voltage off? btw, All caps ESR tested and fine.

  • I have a Samsung 50 Plasma pn50b450. It's only 15 months & it's clicking on and off. I plugged in my HD camcorder on the side and notice purplish pixals on the edge the screen & turned orange/blue & then nothing. I've checked the caps on the power supply, all good. I bought a main and power supply, put in it & it does the same thing BUT it doesn't click anymore, I turn it on and it turns itself off.

Someone HELP.... Logic or X main board?

  • i change the cpacitors..and still the same...any way a can they may be another capacitor...the it may look good but isnt... is a 50 inch plasma and is in good condition i realy dont want to throw it out...any help will be nice....thankyou

  • @eliottforu I dont know. Send me the board and will test the capacitors. We all bust our butt in an attempt to make something last forever. Truth is, best intentions are lost.

    Get married.

  • @eliottforu Send me your power supply board and I will test the caps for you. Sorry about my earlier reply. It didn't come out right now that I read it :)

  • I have a plasma TV 42 inch by Daewoo it made a crackling noise then the picture went off and a red light went on. Similar looking capacitors in your video appear to be fine, but there are smaller capacitors, I think they are capacitors, that appear to be bulged on the top. On the top of them it says 470 25 g 212 Are these capacitors and can they be replaced? What should I replace tem with? I couldn’t find them the digi key site and I am ignorant as to what to replace them with. Thanks.

  • I have a samsung plasma, my tv red light blinks and also clicks. It will turn on but sometimes it will take a while. Will this procedure help this issue?

    Thank you

  • Ok as a professional in some cases this will work but you should have a professional tv tech do the repairs because you could damage components if you don't know what your doing, as for the capacitor problem, as per an inside source they use capacitors that break down easy for environmental purposes you can thank the EPA for that one

  • @mrtvtech29 EPA ruined the nice Mercedes cars too... wire harness rotting out resuliing in engine control problems. VW and Audi listening?

Cheapsy American Geo Metro does NOT get the crappy CORN BASED EPA approved wiring. Yay GEO!

YET the $100,000+ dollar super duper luxury Mercedes car gets garbage wire insulation because it's a demon. Heavy, gives me power and still 24 MPG.

I like the military equipment teflon wiring....Done!!!!!! I hate being screwed without my approval.

  • I have a Sabre plasma TV, the screen would have a pink hue to it with a tone, you could still see the picture though. I would fix it by turning it off and pack on then the picture would be fine and no tone.

Then one day the picture just went black but you still hear the sound just fine.

I looked at all the capacitors and they look just fine, I have no clue as to what it could be. any ideas?

    Thanks

  • @jlfrome you have a bad ysus or a zsus board. Read my tip above on how to check the bad one. If they check out fine and get hot like I suggest while running, then your buffer boards are bad.

  • Unfortunately, if you use the part he shows in the picture - you will be doing this again in the future. The voltage is too low and the capacitor is the wrong type.

    1 -- increase the voltage to about a 16 or 25V cap.

2 -- Go with Panasonic FC series and -NOT- EB series.

    Use part number EEU-FC1C332.

  • Dont know if you can help at all i have a Sagem HD-D45F rear projection TV that was working perfectly until a week ago. When you turn on it has to boot up first which it does flashing amber light then solid green. Then it stays on for a about 2 minutes and then switches itself off. Above the regular stand by light is another red light which is next to a symbol that looks like a thermometer. I've got no manual so i don't know what to do next. Any help greatly appreciated.

  • I suggest that everyone who has a broken Samsung tv, return it to the U.S. headquarters in Ridgefield, NJ. I think they might get the idea that they have a faulty product if they are inundated with the actual faulty product.

  • @pew63 wish I can just ask for a FREE shipping crate from samsung????

  • Does anybody have other YouTube links for Philips plasma problems other than the 7-blinking LED capacitor problem....other blinking sequences ????

  • You forgot to mention the shipping cost. Sure $3 to $7 for shipping is not very much, but it's more than just "$0.65" :-)

  • im prity sure that the tv is a Philips because i have repaired a tv just like that one, the serial number has 42PF in it witch is 42in and Philips

  • I have a CRT monitor that has been giving me problems. It has horizontal lines going down the top 1/4 of the screen. Are the capacitors the problem as well?

  • @exaurius Bad upper buffer board.

  • I have a lcd portable tv dvd radio (Venturer). I found on the side of the road I am trying to fix. When i turn it on it works then screen goes black! I replaced the capacitors that looked like they needed to be replace. I turned it on and same problem?

  • wait one day to be safe....? crap....

  • @philip2go It's safe now :)

  • @gavincurtis that's an older version buddy... wait one day to be safe? ha ha ha

  • i have a 23" Norwood Micro V23DLTX 720p LCD HD and it wont come on.... when i plug it up the power button while come on fer a second then turn off....then one day the power in the house when out fer 5 minutes then came back on then the monitor came on then i played my xbox on it and it worked fine till i turned my xbox off

  • Hey, our samaung 50inch plasma just died.. Well there is sound but the screen is just showing black, and even when you press the menu or volume buttons nothing shows what so ever. Cause this fixed my problem to?

  • Overvoltage problem can be caused by capacitors (30%) and other components (about 70%) e.g. faulty transistors/diodes, etc.

  • 99% is the caps problem. 1% too much dust prevent cooling problem.

  • i have a 50' plasma and i did what u said i saw to blow cpasitors 100v i went to radio shack and buy the tools..i buy the capasitors to dige-key..lol...i put the newones the same way, but is still doing the samething....can you help me on this? it doesent seem that theres any more capasitors blow...did i did something wrong?

  • @eliottforu Shotgun method.

Replace all capacitors on the power supply board. Send me your board and I have equipment that can test.

  • @gavincurtis when you say all the capacitors on the board, exactly which ones do you mean. just the ones near the original two blown ones 3300uF - or what?

  • @eliottforu send me your board. I will test the caps at no charge.

  • the main problem is Assembled in Mexico bendecho!!

  • I believe i messed up taking out the old caps. Got them out alright but on the back side of the board there is still some solder that is blocking the holes. Please help?

  • @Pokekevin Go to Radio Shack and get "desoldering braid". It will clean all the solder and is a few dollars.

  • @gavincurtis ahh good to go. Also im waiting for my new caps to come in. Is it ok to have the TV laying flat down right now? Its on a punch of soft pillows

  • @Pokekevin it should be fine if you cannot stand it back up. You just don't want to ship or transport the set lying flat..

  • @gavincurtis I have the same symptoms but none of the caps look like they are bulging or leaking. What do I do?

  • I have a question, would this work for my tv, it clicks when you go to turn it on, the Blue LED light turns on, but the tv just clicks, doesnt turn on itself, im not sure if this applies to this problem im having or not.

  • HI. I HAVE A SHARP AND WHEN I TURN IT ON IT SHOWS PICTURE FOR 15 SECONDS AND THEN ONLY THE SOUND STAY AND PIX IS GONE.IT HAPPENS ALL THE TIME. I HATE TO GET RID OF THIS SHARP .DO YOU THINK THAT IT WILL SOLVE THE PROBLEM?

  • You need to check the voltage of the circuit where capacitors are mounted, if it is. an increased voltage on capacitors, they will kill again. electronic circuits can burn. You have to look for causes, they may be low quality, but can be increased voltage which can be fatal for the device. You can put capacitors withstand a higher voltage and higher temperature, but keep their original capacity, if everything is ok on the board

  • Hello. Thank you in advance. I've got a Panasonic TH-42PD25 Symptons: TV turns on, red light on solid (not blinking), Screen is primed (light grey), No volume or menu options on display (nothing), Remote seems to work (turns tv on/off), No sound, Could it be the video and logic boards...man I hope not!! :( You seem to know your TVs. Do you have any suggestions? Thank you
  • @SzymonVonBatman About 70% of flatscreens die from bad capacitors. These are higher cost items in production cost that are cut.

Take the back of your set and look for popped caps. Replace them. If TV still fails, replace all of remaining capacitors even if they look good.

Logic board could be bad, but make sure the power supply is healthy first. Also be sure to google repair kit for your model of TV. Many are now offering capacitor kits online to repair failed flatscreens.

  • @SzymonVonBatman make sure you hooked up all your cable connections and ribbon cables securely outside and inside your tv. A screen with dark raster but no video could be one of many issues.

Caps are not always to blame. It could also be a rectifier, resistor, ic, sd boards, buffers, ysus, zsus, etc. Check all fuses on the boards too. If one is open, then replacing it will only cause other issues or blow it again. You will have to find the root of the problem to blown fuses.

  • @SzymonVonBatman You can do a simple test to check the Ysus and the Zsus boards. Leave the tv on for 10 minutes with the back off and very carefully feel for heat on the heat sinks of each sus board. The heat sinks are easy to find because they are the largest cooling metal fins on the right and the left side of the tv on the boards. Each one should be hot and around 140 degrees f. If one is cool, then there lies your problem.

  • @SzymonVonBatman Usually the IC under the sink shorts out, blows a fuse, and protects the tv by not turning on.

  • Hey Gavincurtis,

I have an old maybe 3-4 year old philips TV w/ ambilights. Just starting getting the red blinking lights and had to unplug several times to get the tv to work. Ive searched around and found that most people having this problem were cause of the defective capicators. Would this video work on the philips tv too? It looks like a philips set you were using in the video. Also I thought blown capicators looked like they were blown outwards? THanks!

    -Kevin

  • Worked for my phillips

    Martin

  • thank you very much for your great video my plasma is working again after replacing the capacitors described in the video.....very happy! =)

  • I have Phillips . It has the same problem. and I have a question if can I use 3300 15V capacitors ? The problem is, I am in Guatemala but there is not a place to find 3300 10V capacitors. thanks soo much guys

  • @TheGiseles Yes, 15v 3300uf replacements are fine. In fact, you can use 450v 3300 caps if you want as long as the voltage is higher and the uf rating stays the same. It's actually better to use higher voltage caps when replacing blown ones, because the originals blew because the voltage got too high in the first place.

  • Hi greetings from Guatemala, I have the same problem with my Philips, I would like to know if can I use 3300 15V capacitors? because there is no place to find 3300 10v. here in Guatemala. thanks for your help guys

  • i have a 42pf7320a/37 the capacitors look fine.i plug it in and the green leds inside come on then it clicks and the lights go out.black screen?

  • @builder37660 did you ever figure out your tv problem?

  • I have Phillips 42PF7220A/37 plasma . It has the same problem. 7 red blinks then 3 green blinks and no picture. All capacitors look good. Any ideas what to do. Thanks in advance..

  • @rdata34 Try replacing them anyways. At worst you are out 10 dollars in parts and you tried.

  • @gavincurtis how do u take the capcitors off?

  • If I were you, I would call a repairman:)... Althou, try change x-driver

  • @rdata34 hey did you get your TV fixed? I bet you have the same TV like me that uses a different power supply that does NOT have 8059 and 8060 as 10v 3300uf. What's the problem with the ...119a power supply like ours?

  • My dad is working on this XD

  • I have had my Panasonic TC-32LX700 for over two years with only one problem that shows itself 2-3 times a year.I turn it on,then it goes off with the power light flashing.

I go to the manual power button on top,and hold it down for about 4 seconds, let go,the light stops flashing, then push again to restart. All is ok again. One time,I had to disconnect my HDMI cable from my PVR momentarily to get it going again.

  • i just change my 42 philips plasma capacitors work fine now thanxxxxxx man

  • You should save yourself the hassle of doing it all again in another 12 months and replace 10V caps up to the next available voltage, I would suggest 35V.

  • Zetamom1 - I have a 42-inch Plasma Samsung Tv, Model # HPS4253X/XAA. For the last 4 days it will not hold a picture. TV comes on, picture is there, then approx. 2 minutes later it disappears. I have volume but screen is black. Appears I have the same problem as shown on video. Appreciate comments/solutions to problem. Sounds like capacitors ismy problem too

  • Thank you so much for taking the time to put this video together and make it available. I have done as you instructed and my plasma is back to working well. You have saved me money and heartache. I appreciate your willingness to help others. My Philips 42" is alive again!

  • thx for the video....but my tv is a sony 42 and it has the sound but no image...what can be the problem?

  • Gavin, Great video. I like you had a blue light and sound no picture. Once I saw the video I did as instructed. The TV worked without a problem for about 3 weeks, But once again I have the blue led light and sound but no picture.

I cracked it open again to check for burnt out capacitors and have found none... any suggestions? Once again Thanks

  • i took off my back and it looks as if all my capacitors are still intact and not blown... do they have to be completely noticeable or will the slightest indent or outdent be an indication of whether or not the capacitor is blown?..

    thanks!

  • @duffduff13000 Capacitors can be blown and look 100% normal, you would really need a cap tester. A good way to check bad caps that are not visibly blown is to heat them up individually with a hair dryer and try turning the device on, bad caps that do not look bad will usually begin to work after heat has been applied. After using this method to find bad caps you can then replace the faulty capacitors and be good to go.

  • i have LG plasma 42PC3DV try to turn it on but its just keep going off ..or sometime it works but turn off by itself ..help me please !

  • Good video. Thanks.

  • Guys, careful with Samsung product. I called them and they are saying they have not received any complaint about their TV. I told them go on Google and find out. They are very rough they don't have customer service idea. Stay away from them- Kamlesh Raghuanshi

  • my samsung tv just didn't want to turn on how much do you think it will coast to fix please help its a 50inch

  • Hi, Curtis. I've got two questions. I have a Toshiba 27" CRT TV that will need a capacitor replaced. Will unpluggin it for a day discharge the capacitors in the TV? Also, my sister has a rear projection Sony Wega (I believe 50"). The screen has turned yellowish and has brownish blobs, which I hear is the optical engine, but I've also heard it could be a lexan lens inside the TV which needs replacement. Any ideas? Thanks for your input.

  • There's a great supplier near me, lsi-closeouts, I bought a few PlasmaTVs and picked them up yesterday. One was had a capacitor issue, and the other two had cold solders on the processing board, which cause black areas on my screen. If this is your problem, just heat the board with a heat gun or an infrared lamp.

  • Great vid! I have a 50" panasonic and the damn thing flashes 9 times (panel status) error but I can't find any info even in the PDF 180pg repair mag. No blown caps, any thoughts? THx

  • thank u sir your video was very helpful

  • This problem is also common in many other electrical devises. I fixed a friends computer monitor for them and I also fixed a free view box that another friend gave me, thus I had a free free view box, shame I do not watch much TV. Most other dead stuff that comes my way, is normally dismantled un less it is a useful device, then its repaired.

  • ok I didn't know that thx for the information :)

  • OMG all seller told me to not take a plasma a flat horizontaly , always on vertical side

There is gas in plasma tv ... LCD no problem to take it at flat

  • @vegcrable Plasma screens are assembled and tested in the horizontal position. It's okay. But never transport a plasma or LCD tv in the horizontal position.

  • @gavincurtis Im actually curious about this. Can you please explain gavin? Thanks!

  • hey there, what if my samsung has the same simptoms but all the capacitors look fine.

  • @selektajahmaica I would replace them anyways. If you mail them to me, I can test them at no cost aside from your postage stamp. PM me.

  • @gavincurtis thanks a lot but looks like i can test them myself! hopefully that is the problem! thanks again for reply!
