The film runs at 3/4 speed, so it's partially in slow-motion. He basically scored because of a slip by the man who was covering him, and poor tackling by the player who came over to help.
Burgmeier was no world-class sprinter but he was deceptively quick back in the day.
@wes2k10 idk what ur talkin about that was an assome play and happens all the time "today" its just a poor decision by the only safty to hit high and assume he would go out of bounds. If not for tremendous balance and and poor decision by the tackler it would all be different but thats y footballs cool 1 play could change everything.Happend this yr against mich. Qb broke 80 or so yard run
He had the courage of a lion when it came to winning at the last minute. -He never settled for anything less but the best could get out of every throw/pass.
The voice of Don Criqui, on the record, predicting the legendary status of one Joseph Montana, is amazing. It is Criqui's John the Baptist moment, warning us of future greatness.
I remember listening to this game on Mutual Radio. In many ways it was Montana's breakout game, the first time he demonstrated his amazing ability to rally his troops. I remember being stunned, just floored, as Don Criqui called Burgmeier's sideline scamper. Somehow ND managed to pull it out - on an audible.
I like the Carolina fans throwing cups at the ND player scoring the TD. Stay classy, Carolina.
