Lol i rather float outter space instead of falling from that height (if i had no parachute) then a gain if i did.. that will be a good memory just hopes my parachute dont fail lmao..
@Collin6981 there are a million things i could say. i just discovered that god isn't real... i just saw a baby shoot himself in the face... that's fucked up. i saw a dog eat his own leg off because he had parasites. i saw a load of soldiers crying and cutting their wrists. how could god be real in a place like this? and if he is real, then he can fuck off because he's a sadistic fucking dick head. i also saw a piglet being bashed against a wall by some sick farmers, why? what the fuck? fuck off
GoPros are amazing, the skydivers use them at the airport I'm learning to fly at. I couldn't believe that those little cameras do such beautiful work!
That's incredible. As resellers of gopro products, we would love to get some more information and post a blog on out site, if you guys are interested. I mean... an 80,000 foot plummet back to Earth has definitely caught our attention! Great video, amazing shots. If you are interested, shoot us a message. I have subscribed to your page. Thanks!
@PointOfViewCameras me and a team of friends are doing a similar project if you are interested in donating a camera for the project. Our first flight will be late spetember early october, I live in the UK and the payload will have a multiple sensor package along with a camera.
Well done - amazing what can be done with a bit of brain power and some off the shelf components on a relatively low budget < $1000 perhaps? Couple of Q's please
Ascent rate? How many feet per minute.
Control? Did you have any pan control on the GP's (eg model RC - I suppose range would be an issue)
@1132ng We got there about 7 hours after launch. We would have got there much sooner if the electronics in the payload hadn't interfered with our GPS tracking device. Once the batteries on the electronics died after about 6 hours, we got a signal and drove straight to the landing site.

I did a high altitude balloon project myself. How did you keep the payload from whipping around on the ascent, stabilizing fins?

Temperature?
Environment issues at altitude?
Airspace? Did you need clearance?
Excellent effort
EnVeeTee 1 year ago
@EnVeeTee The peak ascent rate was about 800 feet per minute
No active control on this launch
I think the minimum air temperature was around -60F - we will have more temperature sensors on our next launch
We contacted the FAA before our launch, but technically there are no rules for payloads under 4 pounds
