I think you're reading what you want to into what Watts is saying because you want him to believe and think like you. Sometimes an apple is just an apple, accept him for what he is. My take on Watts was correct....sorry.
@BloodTar You're projecting your shadow. Your statement also applies to yourself. You're putting down what someone else is saying because you're reading into what is said just the same... and want others to think like you, so you feel your mutually unfounded interpretation is validated. Do accept Watts for what he is, which is whatever you say he is. No one is correct or incorrect in their translations and interpretations of the rorschach blot called life.
I'm certain that seeking to gain knowledge and wisdom of a thing does NOT make one a vulture. Simply staring at a rock and saying aaahhh, look at the colors..., in my opinion, is childless, ignorant and shows a lack of being inquisitive or even having basic cognitive skills. I guess Isaac Newton should have just at the apple and shut the hell up instead of becoming a damn vulture. Maybe Galileo would have died a happy man if he just would've stopped wondering how the earth was shaped.
Sigh... He did not say seeking to gain knowledge makes you a vulture but rather when you do it to get something out of it. To postulate that he was suggesting seeking knowledge and wisdom makes you a vulture illustrates how little you understood these wise words.
@quantumcodex Your right my friend, I spoke too soon without grasping your meaning.
