And look closely at the guy's hands at 0:49 when he comes down on the table and puts his hands in front of him; something weird happens and the hands seem to change shape.

At 1:04 when they lay down the top-half of the guy to match his legs, watch his left hand (viewer's right). It moves too fast when it grabs the side of the table. The hand that the half-guy has when in upright position are different from the hands he has when laying down. When the surgeon is standing at the table in the beginning of the act, the little guy distracts the audience, but if you look at the surgeon you see that his position is unnatural; his head moves independently from the body.

oh I've just had it pointed out to me that the half person could have his legs tucked up into his shirt.

I didn't think of that.

oh yeah and the bit at the start isn't necessarily with strings, it could be a guy bent over into the table

Clearly the half person is a person who really has half a body (born that way or had an accident).

The legs moving on thier own it with strings and when they come together that's someone else/someone holding him up from the back.

Note when his shirt get's longer (during a reaction shot).

Omg I know how the "split up" the guy in the first place, but how do they do the trick with the arm below the torso?? o_0
