This is why many Christians accept and believe in Capital punishment. Capital punishment is the lawful killing of another. The cartoon isn't accurate. It's unlikely the Israelites would've had metal armor. If they did, only a few soldiers would've had any. Metal armor was costly, and the Israelites didn't have enough mines or fuel to forge metal in large quantities.

the HOLY ghost appeared to me last night, (maybe it was the tooth fairy, I'm not sure it was very dark.) anyway he told me in a deep echoing voice to spread the word of Bob. "Bob" I said, he said "yes, spread the word of Bob." so I said, "I'm ready, I'm ready." he said "Perfect, now go." then he dissappeared back into the closet. I'm still not sure what he meant.

that's the most retarded story I've ever heard. A kid with a slingshot kills a giant man and the giant man had a shield, sword, and armor, and by throwing a rock he kills the man? Does the bible have any stories that can be sorta realistic? I mean the miracle on ice team wasn't because of god, it was because they worked their asses off, and all had a their spot in the NHL.

@dclaver2 First off, David was an expert stone-thrower. Secondly, Goliath may have had a thin skull. Third, he was probably wearing so much iron armor that when he fell down he couldn't get himself back up.

@dclaver2 What?? This is a great story to build up the morals of kids. We teach them that if there is someone bigger than you that doesn't believe in GOD, just shot him. Ha, ya this is a weird story, although almost everyone feels it is actually one of the few TRUE stories in the bible since it is also in the Qua'ran and in historical texts as well. Sheilds or no sheilds a long distance weapon has a big advantage over hand to hand combat so no big miracle here.

Because the Israelites were probably not wearing armor and their weapons were limited to arrows (they were armed shepherds, accustomed to mountain warfare).
The Philistines had iron armor and weapons, which the Israelites definitely didn't have. They didn't have iron, and hadn't learned how to forge it.
The Philistines also outnumbered the Israelites. They were a huge, professional army, and not like the Semitic peoples that the Israelites were used to fighting.

The Philistines and Israelites occupied defensive positions; the Philistines had their Greek armor, and the Israelites were up in the hills.
Saul's soldiers were scared stiff. The Philistines probably didn't want to bother hiking uphill; they'd rather sit and wait for the Israelites to come down and get slaughtered.
When the Philistines saw David kill and decapitate Goliath, they all ran.

The video says they were both already in the valley, and evenly matched. I fail to understand how any of this could have happened.

The cartoon isn't accurate. It's unlikely the Israelites would've had metal armor. If they did, only a few soldiers would've had any. Metal armor was costly, and the Israelites didn't have enough mines or fuel to forge metal in large quantities.

The Philistines weren't sending Goliath into battle. They were putting on a display.
Goliath was their "champion", and twice a day, for 40 days, they would have him parade within sight of the Israelites while shouting taunts.
The Philistines were in no hurry to fight. They were so confident, they figured they'd just wait, and put on a show in the meantime.
