The apocolypse was equally epic in San Franisco this past Tuesday. That was by far the most thrilling thing I've experienced in years. It made me laugh sometimes at the sheer audacity of it.
They only do this live, for the diehard fans who like this kind of thing. Most of their stuff doesn't sound like this. With that said, I was at the show the day after this one and the holocaust lasted for-I swear I'm not exaggerating-upwards of 20 minutes, and I had a blast.
thanks for posting this....i was just to the front left of your camera! it was amazing. just closing my eye's it was like being in the center of a endless sonic explosion.
yes this was the loudest thing i have heard in my life. i thought my ears were going to start bleeding. it is the first time i have ever seen people covering their ears at a gig!
I know you will think I am mad, but it was not loud enough! The P.A. system was weedy so it sounded like they were playing through a midi-system turned up too loud. I had 16 years of hurt for that.
The damage threshold for the ear is actually lower than the pain threshold and as far as I know that is unique for the human body. So the damage starts way before you feel pain. Be very careful with your ears ;o)
I saw MBV many times in the 90s and my hearing is not too god anymore....
Usually, your ears need at least a 16 hours rest before you can enter the fray again with no or little damage. If you would attend MBV gig every day back then, I can understand you went through problems afterwards.
Thats the Roundhouse for you, I've literally stopped going to gigs there because the sound quality is so shit. I only go for once in a lifetime stuff like this, but I have to admit I was doubting how MBV would come across with their system and I was definitely pleasantly surprised! Roundhouse has the potential to ruin gigs.. it certainly didn't this time.
This looks incredible.....just a question folks. Did any of you or your bags get searched on the way in for cameras as am thinking of taking in an SLR camera.

You're not mad JonJonOne.. just deaf ;) The gig was rated at 129dB which is 4dB past the supposed threshold of pain.
