  • A great video, thanks for sharing......Roy

  • I came here looking for the music, but its those pictures what drove my attention. Call me a freak, but in my opinion those show nastiness and most of all the beauty and magic of warfare. Its so damn fascinating, most (if not all) of those soldiers died there in one way of another, think how many Johnnies went without coffin? Funnily this song is a remake of a pacifistic song.

    1:25 - definetely best photography.

  • @oOldXman

"Call me a freak, but in my opinion those show nastiness and most of all the beauty and magic of warfare. Its so damn fascinating"

Then, it might rejoice you, somehow, to know that you're not the only freak out there. ;-)

I too find "old" warfare (Civil war, WW1, WW2, Korea) fascinating, somehow.

  • @Briselance You're not alone. though my fascination goes back just a bit further. specifically: the battles waged between 1630 and 1805. and Naval battles more so than land battles...

  • Nice version... It s the first time I hear the instrumental version. Thanks for uploading ;)

  • I'm noticing a lack of arguments and trolls on this video.

    I don't believe it.

If only every other video was like this.

    Amazing music too.

  • @lemansquattro

Certain videos have this rare gift to be totally troll-proof.

These kind of vid are my favs.

  • @LolCaramelz

What a cute little troll. Now shut up.

  • This is the America I like!

  • my great great great grandfather was a confederate soldier. my great grandfather was in WW1, my grandfather was in Korea, my father went to Vietnam. god bless soldiers and god damn the ones who send them to war

  • MAJOR KONG!!!

  • Thanks to our soldiers-in-arms all around this world. Your service makes it possible for me, and my loved ones, to live in freedom. My thoughts are with you, as well as your families. You are willing to sacrifice for our freedom. This song inspires me, and reminds of what you do for us every day. Bless you!

  • The "Very Last" WW I Vet of all time from any country past away this week....His name was "Frank Buckles". It's all over the Internet, Newspapers, and TV News. He was 110 Years young...........He lied about his age to get into the Army at age 16 1/2.................Please go to the Associated Press Website to read both the Front Page Story beautifully written about WW I's horror's written by Allen G. Breed and the Frank Buckles Official Obituary!!!

  • @narutofightindreamer There are still 2 Brittish survivors from WW I, an australian(Claude Stanley Choules) and one from united kingdom(Florence Beatrice Green) (last living woman too). both 110 years old.

    america=/=the world

  • @leeuw16 You need to check your attitude at the door there good sir! Obviously, I "can only depend on" what the Newspaper Writer's say in the paper's and I believe "Reuters" is indeed a "British News Syndicate". As the Newspaper are still more reliable on news than the internet.................Anyway, your "highly misguided and very wrong" attempt at insult was quite "off the mark" and you owe me an apology for such. I'm an extremely "UnJingoistic & Unnationalistic" individual.....

  • Just ordinary guys regardless of nationality, wishing more than anything else to live life to enjoy it................, forced to murder one another for selfish evil "imperial Lord's" regardless of the flag.....................Loyd George, Churchill, Wilson, Lodge, Ludendorf, Petain, Foch, Emperor Taisho, etc................They were all scum for committing this upon the world............A world still affected by their act's of evilness

  • This music oozes epicness. Too bad ooze is not an epic word.

  • @AthosAmo Why did I say that?

  • When darkness had descended all across the land

A lone voice in the distance uttered “Yes, we can”

He gave good speeches, he never sweat, he was really good at the internet

He’s Barack Obama, he’s come to save the day

    XD

  • Dr Strangelove!

  • I love this song. I would really like to find an epic version of it like film score orchestra quality. This comes close, but still not quite epic...

  • This version is nice, but I want to hear it done by an electric guitar.

  • War is so stupid.

  • @theskiesbelowme Really? Then I guess you don't like your everyday household items

  • Comment removed

  • The war was about states rights.Dont forget that.

  • @GokuGreg2001 The war was all about states rights, and slavery was manipulated to work as a justification for the greed and power hungry Lincoln. The question is posed: How many white men would have died for the Black man back then......But they did fight to preserve the Union, which is the crap we are left with today.

  • up the ra

  • OH CRAP sorry got that a bit wrong i ment the boar war (south africa v britain) was very close sorry for that :$

  • long time I didn`t heard this

  • HU HA!

  • The civil war has been over since 1865 and it is now is only history and the past. The past is gone forever , we must never forget any of our history but dont dwell on the past. For the past is gone forever .

  • Ah... The Great War... Tanks, aircraft carriers, automatic machine guns, fighter planes, mustard gas, and a farewell to arms. What could be better?

  • Finally The Original!

  • Your only off by about 200 years. . .

  • the american civil war and the british civil war are very close together

  • @cadet1857 yeah...if by British you mean English our civil war was about 200 years before the American civil war :/

  • the worst part is that 99% of the song is filled with brit and aussie soldiers. While one cant judge suffering. I would go with the first WW soldiers any time.

    One word : Gas

  • @MrRizikoo

You do know that this song was originally Irish?

With your drums and guns and drums and guns

  • lovethis fuckin song lol

  • are there any good movies about the America Civil war, if so plz tell me (:

  • @ixius93

    Gods and Generals

Look it up, is pretty good...

  • @ixius93 Glory, Gettysburg, and Cold Mountain come to my mind.

  • @ixius93 There's a good book & DVD of same name: "Gods and Generals". As the5thCount said. There's the sequal; made before the God's and Generals - so I suppose it was the prequal (confusing). That was "Gettysburg", the book for that one is "The Killer Angels". Both books & films are very good; I recommend them. Pickett's Charge in "Gettysburg" is amazing! It was filmed on the battlefield, I believe, & about as many re-enactos took part as soldiers did in the original Charge! Hope that helps.

  • Both sides used Ironclads (the Confederacy was the first though). The American Civil War is much more like WW1, but most people compares it to the Revolution, which is a bit of a mistake.

  • Instead of constantly trying to prove me wrong, then pick up a history book, read it, be ashamed because I was 100% correct, and then move on with your life.

Flintlock rifles was OUTDATED during the civil war. They used percussion caps rifles, with barrled rifles instead of smoothbores. Flintlock rifles was used during the American Revolution. Breach loading rifles was also used on the war, though only on the Union side. The Confederacy has a submarine (The CSS Hunley... look it up!),

  • Ok the civil war don't had any repeating rifles but gatling guns submarines but no BOLT ACTION DURING 1861-1865 HAD ONLY FLINT LOCK RIFLES NOT BEFORE THE YEAR 1867 they had bolt-action it whas a little bit later model so they didn't have any repeating (RIFLES)

  • why does the video have pictures of the ww1 at verdun ?????

  • It's not just Verdun; but that's a relevent commeent you make. Maybe the vid maker wanted more photos of carnage? It was much easier to take photos in WWI than the Civil War. In the Civil War cameras were: tripod & hood, take cap off count to 10, replace cap. WWI soldiers could carry cameras in their pockets & "take a snap". Maybe that's why there are no photos of soldiers being killed in the Civil War; but quite a lot in WWI? Also they had movies in WWI & could take frames from them.

  • Regarding where the film was taken that's difficult. I see Ypres there:real meatgrinder.1917 the Brits packed 1 million Infantry into the Ypres salient to attack, the whole salient was only 8 miles across.Think there're some scenes of the Somme, the biggest meatgrinder in history - possibly some from the Second Marne. I've been to these battlefields a few times. It's changed of course: more trees. If you go in a wood you can see shell craters everywhere & shells too! I saw one in "Devil" wood.

  • @RattytheSecond Fortunately, it changed but when you walk in the woods, you can't see a hole without thinking about WWI and the fact that a bomb could dig it. My parents live near Soissons, from where General Mangin launched the decisive coutner-attack during the second Battle of the Marne

  • @RattytheSecond and canada was part of the britts :) just being patriotic.

    good info though.

  • All conflict starts with religion or other people's opinions

the North viewed slavery as wrong and intruded in the South's business.

The Ku Klux Klan masks its hate and violence behind what.....? RELIGION

(Hence the 4 K cross, burning crosses, white robes...)

all the worlds conflicts start with religion.

  • @JimmyHopkins2

    Umm... simply not true...

You forgot the fact that many conflicts start with economics...

    Trojan war?

But you are partially right... most conflicts start from either economics, or ideology (not religion...) Nazi party anyone? Not religiously based...

  • @the5thCount

Thats not really true. Adolf was a devout Christian

  • @dramafreak7k

How could Adolf Hitler been a devout Christian if he did not follow even one of the pointers of the sermon on the mount?

Someone has been watching atheistic propaganda...

  • The Nazi party wasn't based off of Christianity like so many atheists like to proclaim... the Nazi ideology was one of National Socialism, Social Darwinism, and Euthanasia... all of which CONTRADICT what the scriptures say.

Yes, I realize that Hitler referenced God in his speeches, but that doesn't mean that he actually followed Christian doctrine...

  • it's so hard to find a GOOD instrumental. lyrics are horrible. DIE HARD 3 KICKS MAJOR ASS!!

  • His armband proved he was a red, Torres, Torres!

  • Really, there's no point in fighting. All it does is tear us apart, it shouldn't matter what the colour of your skin is, where you come from, what your religion is (unless you believe in terrorism, that, in my opinion, is morally wrong), we should just get along and stop trying to blow each other to smithereens. though I've got to admit, love this tune

  • @slinkyt1

Ya, I agree. You should never start a war...unless the person you are fighting is anything other than a white Protestant. Then I think it's ok...

  • @slinkyt1 but its is all on ones morallas and many people have their own idea on what is wrong or right and also with out conflict how would we know what peace war and bloodshed is the only answer

  • We are humans, we never learn, cos we, is dumb. We can never just quit fighting, because, we dumb.

Why can't we all just learn to get along and quit our petty fights, oh that is right, because we are so dumb.

  • awesome version, great music, great American people might and bravery!

    Greetings from Lithuania

  • ...great version :-)

  • oh my gosh I love this song! espically the instrumental version. sounds so pretty! <3 hey does anyone know where I can get this in sheet music bor Bflat clarinet? I want to play this so badly

  • @kaykay78945 Theres a small part in the Standard of Excellence Book 2.

  • @kaykay78945 Can you not play by ear???

  • @kaykay78945 i also play bflat clarinet and i want to play because it is so pretty and my school choir is singing it and sing johnny has gone 4 a solider

  • @APdocumentary, In world war I there were no nazi's, germany was under the rule of the german emporer Wilhelm.

the rise of hitler and the nazi's was a result of germany losing the war in world war I

  • @gaatjegeenmoeraan That is true: the way I learnt it in history was that World War I started this way:

Serbians assassinated the heir to the throne of Austria Hungary

    Austria Hungary issued an ultimatum

    Serbia refused

Russia had to step in due to being allied to Serbia

Germany had to step in due to being allied to Austria Hungary

and then the other allies of each side followed suit, those allied to Germany went in because those allied to Russia did.

  • I believe that was WWII...

  • we bought the lad from sunny spain he gets the ball he scores again fer-nan-do torr-es fer-nan-do torr-es liverpools new nine.

  • @macmilly277

He's half a girl and half a boy, Torres!! Torres!! He looks just like a transvestite, Torres!! Torres!! He wears a frock, he loves the cock, he sells his arse on albert dock, Fernando Torres Carragher's bit on the side! :) Man utd 2 - 1 Scouser scum

  • @Da40cal Im not a Pool fan dick breath.

I just know the song. FYI SAF wanted Torres badly.

He was very nearly a red devil. I wonder how bad youd be on his cock then.

  • MakroTeh, The USA was going to enter WWII regardless of Pearl Harbor, it was just a matter of time.

Britain did not 'blow' anything & neither did the French etc.

In 1939 & early 1940 British Commonwealth forces took out over 300,000 Italian troops (including colonial troops) in East & North Africa. At that time Stalin of the USSR was Shitler's ally.

Germany couldn't invade Britain: the RAF caused the Luftwaffe large losses, while the Royal Navy would have sunk the Germans.

  • And on another note Russia and America picked up most of the slack when the English and French blew it. Yes we Americans could have sat on our ass or not even entered the war and sent American lives to fight a war that wasn't ours. But we did and the Russian's took one step further, they didn't just defeat the German Army they crushed it. If anyone should have bragging rights it's the Russians.

  • Don't understimate the French and British war effort. I'd say it was comarable with the American. (but still waaaaay smaller than the Soviet). You wouldn't fight any better in 1940 and such comments make you look ignorant. Why did USA join the WW2? Lol actually you were forced by the Pearl Harbor to declare war on the Axis, before that you only did lend and lease. So yes you wanted to sit on your asses. Of course there are many more reasons for Americas involvement.

  • Military deaths in WW2 (on both european and asians front):

    - United Kingdom : 382,700

    - France : 217,600

    - United States : 416,800

As you see they didn't sit on their asses. Acctually they fought hand-in-hand with Americans suffering the same casualities and much higher compared to their total manpower.

  • @MakroTeh

    And weher are casualities of:

Norway, Belgium, Australia, Poland, Canada, USSR, South Africa, India, Netherlans?

  • can you send me a copy of the song? id like to have it

  • GOD SAVE THE QUEEN!

  • bless the USA...GO USA

  • The ants go marching one by one. Hurrah, hurrah!

The ants go marching one by one. Hurrah, hurrah!

  • @kRaToSWorLD Maybe it would be better for you if it were: The wetbacks go marching on one by one jumping the borders in the hot sun. Feel better now !

  • makro teh were do u get that russia won the war, they only fought on front wear the u.s fought 2, the germans had so many city's in russia surronded and killed so many russians that im supprised thier is a russia the only reason the germans pulled back is because the allies were constintly destroying german manufacturing and with patton and montgomery with in arms reach of berlin hitler wanted his army closer. the only reason russia beat patton into berlin is because he was order to stop

  • Can't you read what I wrote? The Russians won allready the WW2 before the Americans truly entered the war. Of course the Russians lost a huge number of material and menpower in 1941 and early 1942, but they understood the idea of total war better than the Axis or Allies and could replace any losses. The Germans couldn't. Also the Germans the Americans fought weren't the same as earlier lacking supplies, menpower, oil etc. All lost in the invasion of Soviet Union.

  • Just imagine the Battle of Bulge if the Germans had enough oil. You would taste the pleasure of Blitzkrieg, Anyway lets compare the Eastern and Western Front. Battle of Bulge - the biggest battle for the Americans, 15k Germans KIA, 30 MIA/LIA/POW etc and that was in early 1945. But the Battle of Stalingrad - well it's even hard to estimate the German losses but it were about 100k POWs and houndreds of thousend of killed or wounded Germans. All in 1942. You see the difference in the size?

  • Then you have the greatest tank battle ever - Battle of Kursk - 1,5k German tanks destroyed, 1k airplanes, 250 KIA,POW,WIA. And there were dozens of such battles on the Eastern Front. You can read the wikipedia article about the Eastern Front. Especially the parts about #Results and #Casualties.

  • Also don't overrate the allied bombardment's and the war against Japan. Even the Americans saw it as a second class war and the Japanese didn't perform well in this war, except their initial luck. Don't make it look like you were in a 2-front war. The Japnese didn't had enough resources to invade USA, they only hoped to secure what they allready gained. Germany was busy with UK and Soviets. You could sit on your continent and strike when the war was ending.

  • Yeah and if it wasn't from the Supplies the english were getting from the US and the men crazy enough to break through the U-boat blockades, The English would be speaking German. An Army can't fight without supplies. And at that point I dont think Russia had entered the war as they had a peace accord with Germany. So think about that next time you start to take a thought and make it public.

  • @shadowlonesoldier

The debate here was about who won the WW2, because like 90% of all Americans still think that they're the sole winners of WW2 and without them Hitler would take over the world etc etc. But by the way: Hitler could have invaded Great Britain in 1940/41, but he didn't want to. After that an invasion was impossible. Even if Hitler took over England the Soviets would win the war.

  • @jcrmarine are you joking?

Just have a look at the casualties Germans had on the Eastern front and compare them with those in the West. The material losses are the same. Just imagine what would happen if Germany had the airplanes, divisions and equipment they lost in Russia in the west...

Geman manufacturing was bombed, but the production figures actually show increase during the time of bombing. They simply moved their factories underground and continued with increased effort.

  • Please do not take the Russian effort for granted, for it was largely due to this that there was success in 1945. The Russians did more than you might think. The Allied advance was NOT the only reason why the Germans pulled back. To even say so is HIGHLY irrational and clearly shows that you need to spend a little more time reading more than just elementary history books. The Germans dug their own graves with the modularity of equipment and ill preparedness for the Russian winter.

  • Also, basic history shows that inhabitants of a certain area know how to utilize their surroundings better than foreigners. The Russians did just this and slaughtered the Germans. Everything from knob adjustable scopes to their uniforms. It was only a matter of time before the Germans would have retreated anyway.

  • You can't measure it in "fronts". The war was fought partly on Russian soil, and hundreds of thousands of Russian civilians were killed trying to defend their land, in addition to approximately two million Russian soldiers. The Americans took France, but Russia destroyed the German 2nd Army at Stalingrad and then went on to take Germany. Don't reply to this, I'm not arguing, I'm just presenting a point for you to consider.

  • @harold3456

6th army m8. Except from that schoolboy error , a good comment.

  • fuck justice fuck america

  • steel1010101 dude learn ur history we did alot more than that read about a place called belleau wood were u.s marines were hiting germans at over 900 hundred yrds, germans feared the marines shooting, and fighting ability so much they earned the nickname "teufelhunden" or devil dog. and that is jst a small peice of the u.s contrabution to ww1 and jst like ww2 the allies wouldnt have won if it were'nt for the u.s and her fighting men, plus our manufacturing ability.

  • Honestly - the Soviets won the WW2 without much help from US. Just look on the numbers, how many German soldiers did they kill, how many tanks did they destroy etc. At the time the Americans truly (let's say late 1943) joined the war the Germans were allready in defensive.

In WW1 it was the same. The Americans didn't win the war. They helped to end it quicker.

  • Just a reminder the Second World War was not only fought in Europe.

  • @MakroTeh I'm sorry, I know this is an old comment, but the Americans were significant contributors. They didn't send men into the war until it wa sslanting toward victory, but that doesn't mean that they didn't keep the UK alive during the Battle of Britain with their constant stream of military supplies and food. The only problem is that "The Big Red One - spends two months on a cargo ship crossing the Atlantic" doesn't sound like an award-winning movie title.

  • @jcrmarine

Not to mention in the rshort time that we actually fought in World War I we lost over 100,000 men. It may be a relatively small amount compared to the other countries, but that's because we were in the war late.

But our troops coming into the war when they did gave the Allies an overwhelming superiority in numbers and equipment and turned the tide against Germany.

  • US troop isn't that great. Only reason why US is important in both wars is simple numbers. Both in men and war manufacturring. In ww 2 Germany was so out number by both US and Sovit, even if they didn't have Hitler, they would still had lost. Personaly I would say US troop ability never got as good germany Inf/tank troop, when they at their best,~41-42. US troop were quite good at end of war and in Korea. In ww1,US troop is just new meat to the grainder.

  • REALY sorry for mouning and doeble posting but it wont let me use the amount i want. the main thing i want you to know is this March was writen by a previous retired color seargent who was sent to WW1 made it all the way through ALIVE and wrote this song on perminant retirement was promoted to the rank of Leftenent at the end of war before retire and was then sent to be knighted.

that is where this song came from

  • no, this song is from the US civil war, the tune is even older

  • Sorry to burst your bubble ole rebel of the US but for 1 this is from the British army and was then divided as to represent BOTH germany and Great britain. and one other thing the only US soldiers that came to WW1 were 20 fly boys who took areal photographs that still exist today in the UK and only 250 or so US troops died and that was because the town near to the trenches had 79 US civilions there who were to be evacuated may i add

thats all you did take pics and evac your people not help us

  • so the americans can not change their habits.. they still stealling things from the authenic owners

  • I Am A God Ole Rebel

  • fantastic... maravilhoso.. grandioso...

    amei.

  • 0:07 Love the tune. don't know where the .mp3 is though X|

  • hell this was used in near every battle to welcome the men home. Kinda just gets ur blood pumpn

  • The Civil war was fought between 1861-65. And yes, there WAS repeating rifles during the civil war. And Gatling guns, Ironclads and submarines too.

  • true but only the early kind

  • and a shit ton of dead soldiers

  • And those too, indeed.

  • I Am A God Ole Rebel Is A Much Better Song

  • well, yeah, near the end

  • Comment removed

  • @Glarfugus The CSS Hunley was a confederate submarine, that sunk in 1864. There is even a movie about it.

  • @Stender84 It was recently found and the sailors' remains were buried in Arlington Cemetery.

  • @Stender84 i agree with most but not the subs cause subs were based after german U-Boats in WWII

  • @TheSteinmetz342 Hehe, friend, I promise you this, a U-boat and a Submarine is excatly the same thing. Submarine = Sub water. Uboat = underwater boat. Same thing, different names. The CSS Hunley was a Confederate Submarine/Uboat during the American Civil war. If you don't belive me, trust Google.

  • @Stender84 they didn't have bolt-action during the American Civil War

  • @Stender84 Henry Rifle

  • This song was made 1863, the Irish one with the same melody was made in the early 1800s.

  • excuse me.where can buy this album?

  • Comment removed

  • what war is this video about?

  • read the description, ww1

  • Learn your history..

The song is the main theme of the civil war back in 1850

  • What war is this VIDEO about?

    -dinorampage72

    Answer- World War I

I think you will find that there were no repeating riffles, airplanes, or tanks in the civil war.

Also you might want to learn some history yourself, because the Civil War was from 1861 to 1865, you are more than ten years off.

  • That battle march was used during the WW1 too

  • If you look in the bottom of your video screen you will see the pop up of Itune and it says songs of the civil war ;)

Check it before you start yelling at me :P

  • Dear Hookcoast,

this march born during the civil war, yes, that's true !

But it was used during a long period, not just during the civil war ! And during the ww1, it was used :)

  • This battle march is still used, as far as I know. But it was likely written sometime during or after the Civil War. An educated guess. It's also the best American march, in my opinion.

  • world war 1

  • you can see it on pics!! idiot!
