Increase the supply with the demand and there will be a lower equilibrium price, economics 101. The United States has been unable to drill to a great extent due to Congress. Bill Clinton vetoed the bill to drill in Alaska. Cuba is currently drilling 60 miles off the American shore in Florida. bush must truly believe that we're as dumb as he is. it's a lie that domestic oil is used by american's. we give it to oil companies who sell it on the open market at market prices. and since we have less than 4% of the world's energy supply, it (200k barrels/year) would have no effect on world prices.

all this would do is make domestic oil companies richer since we would sell our oil to them (for next to nothing) who would sell it on the open world market at the highest price they could.

the dirty little secret is that wall street investors (commercial & speculative) have pumped almost 1.2 trillion dollars in the oils future market, jacking-up oil prices by almost $70 a barrel, adding $1.75 to $2.25 per gallon to gas prices, wrecking the airline industry, the trucking industry and food prices while siphening off billions of dollars to bush and his uber-rich friends.
