  • I am hoping to use black highlighting on Infinity Yu Jing Japanese mini's. Your approach seems reasonable and something that I could do. If I get some good results, I will post pictures and respond again.

  • Thanks man!!

  • Wargames foundry make a black palette you get black & two shades of grey all per mixed to compliment one another

  • Thanks for sharing!

  • Very helpful, thanks for this! I'll be applying this technique to some Necron Lord capes.

  • how do you highlight grey knights

  • good stuff cat, thumbs up! :)

  • Good video!

  • what is the title of the music?

  • thanks am going to test now.... wanted to do a Blood axes army but rather than have camo pants (which tested and decided was a disaster) I'd prefer black but couldnt get highlighting down.

  • Well done bud, I had not thought to do it that way!

  • thanks for banging this up mate.ive always struggled with black clothing, this will help loads.

  • nice video think you can use that technique for painting black templars to get the high lights on the armor. Thx ;0)

  • Awesome job! Will do me great use when I buy my Skaven army. I was planning on having a green/black army with dark fur so this makes perfect for the units with leather!

Do you mind telling what the soundtrack is by the way? Thanks in advance! :]

  • you my sir, are a god, thank you SOOO much! i jut started painting ghazghull and his nob goff bodyguard and this is perfect! thanks again

  • When i get mi shock troops i goin to prove this tuto.

  • Thank you soooo much! I've been lazy and just leave it black, coz I never knew what to do! WAAAGH!

  • @otenrider Cheers dude, share your results!

  • @otenrider Same here dude :P

  • Dude, nice video. Great information your putting out. It's a big help to many who lack the experience you have. The more you share the better. Just remember, knowledge is power and your empowering others with your videos. Thanks for taking the time to do this.

  • Very nice tutorial again. I would be scared to put so heavy a dry brush onto the mini, but seeing the results I may just have to give it a try.

  • This music is much better than the heavy metal imho. I could hear your voice much better and the music wasn't overwhelming the tutorial.

    Great job dude!

  • I was going to make a video on black cloth. I have never seen ANYONE do black cloth like that. Pretty cool. I loved the cows at the end.

  • Nice job!

  • Another great toot. Definitely helpful. Thanks dude, keep em coming.

  • I've actually had some success doing a basecoat of 1:1 Chaos Black & Adeptus Battlegrey. That way, when the Badab Black goes on, there's some shading that happens too.

  • :)

  • Hey Cat. As always.. Enjoyed your tut. Love the way you share on paper and explain what your doing. Then watching how it is applied makes all the difference.. Was very interesting to see how the black wash affects the excess grey at the end.. Loved the music too bud.

  • Nice job. I'm currently painting up a mini to use as a lore of shadows caster for my dark elves. I'm contrasting lots of silver colours with black to do a moonlight/shadows effect on her. I normally just use adeptus battlegrey then wash to do dark cloth, but i'm thinking that I may do battlegrey and codex grey as the highlight. For my particular project, i think a more subtle effect is needed. Do you think those colours would work?

  • Good stuff bud.

  • I really like the background music! ...not to mention the tutorial itself, of course :)

  • @francisasbury Thanks so much dude, I was wondering if I would get any grief over the music as it seems the wargaming type vids always have heavy metal type music (by which I am a fan btw!) It's just a change up and I appreciate your comment!

    Cat/

  • @Catattafish I can't stand when there's heavy metal or something like that playing in the background of videos (even though I enjoy that type of music as well). Something soft that you don't really notice is much appreciated. Great videos btw.

  • Another sweet tutorial man

    Well done man!

    ~Ghost

  • that's a very interesting technique. Makes perfect sense too! The nice thing about drybrushing on cloth, is that the random patterns produced are similar to what you'd actually see on cloth. Not sure if this quite works on things like leather though. What do you think?

  • ive been lazy with my guards boots and left them all flat black! ...this technique would be a fairly quick way to stop them griping and give them all 'new' boots!

  • not bad, straightforward and easy to try for any skill range. good stuff.

  • another quick, effective method that results in zealot cattle! good tut!

  • I like it. Gonna try that on my Black Templar Neophytes.

  • nice

  • i like that! it almost looks like black leather!
