@millerlois23. There is a GREAT book called "BLUNDER: WHY SMART PEOPLE MAKE BAD DECISION" (2008) by Dr. Zachary Shore. Perhaps you and others here may be interested in studying this insightful read about why US decision-makers blundered into & still blunder into wars. Also, if anyone has not seen the gripping documentary FOG OF WAR, it's available here on YouTube. In it former US Secretary of Defense McNamara reflects on his & President Johnson's mistakes in attacking Vietnam. Peace.

@Schuyllermarines. Why do I think the Marines do not stablize? Marines do not stabilize, they destabilize. They aren't trained for peacekeeping, public relations, diplomacy, or for building public infrastructures like schools, roads, sewages, or creating healthy governments. Let's take a step back & ask what does the word "stablize" mean to you & I? To me, stabilizing means keeping things in balance & in working order to help us survive & thrive.

@Schuyllermarines. In any war, a serious serious problem is OverKill.In one fell swoop, in war we kill innocent peoples,the animals,the plants,and pollute the air & the water.It is too easy to destroy & harder to create & protect what we take for granted.
I wonder, how long did it really take to round up the destructive taliban? 10 days? Why are the Marines & armies still in Afghanistan? & how empathetic is the US military to how they're intimidating the innocent peoples of Afghanistan?
