  • If you ask me, Leatherface from this movie is the scariest slasher villain of them all. I used to have nightmares where he would be chasing me.

  • Good movie but about 95% of it is not true at all. Read up the real story of Ed Gein, watch the movie, then compare the "true story".

  • Rob Zombie hit it on the money. This movie doesn't "feel" like a movie. It really does feel real.

  • The murder scene with the hammer is truly frightening and well-done. Apart from that one scene, the movie is absolute shit.

  • @latiplolo same here, after seeing TCSM I couldn't eat meat for a while. Its one of my favorite horror movies.

  • Great movie. Not sure what happened when they made sequels to it, but the original will always be a masterpiece of horror cinema.

  • 2:35 I love the legs flailing!!!

  • not gruesome, not the best acting (protaganist), but the atmosphere and tone is what gets me.

The scene with the sculptures is probably the most underrated scene ever... it starts out interesting, almost beautiful, (when used right animal bones can be very pretty) but as the scene continues you realize its human bones and flesh and the pacing is almost egg zackly how the character is experience... first intrigue, then caution then terror. Brilliant.

  • @larrlbesnon did you say egg zackly? lol

  • Clive Barker's voice seems kinda phoney.

  • I am so proud to own this film on 2 disk special collector's edition DVD. It's such a deeply dark and disturbing movie. There are now only little horror movies nowadays that can actually terrify me more than anything. People were convinced by Marilyn Burns acting because it seemed so real.

Everyone at the time of this movie being first released was wondering quite the same exact thing. What were they thinking? Did even use real actors or just insane people. There is nothing like this anymore.

  • This movie is so well made, it makes other films look like they were made by middle schoolers. The acting was incredible, especially from the Last Girl. But what still stands out to me is the overtones of "meat is murder" throughout the film. The farm animal noises over all of the killing, the butchering... after I saw it, I went vegetarian for a while! I've always wondered if that was intentional, nobody seems to mention it.

  • I CAN'T BELIEVE THAT'S CLIVE BARKER @ 0:36! Back then, he looked so young, slender, and didn't have a "raspy" voice!

  • Ive heard that at the dinner scene, it was so miserable for the actors that one of them said that if he saw tobe hooper again, he'd kill him. O_O

  • Too bad I Spit On Your Grave, Henry: Portrait of A Serial Killer, and/or Maniac (starring Joe Spinell), didn't make the list!

  • @AngelofAnguish Henry is on here

  • @Pinkranger87 What number did this film come in? I "googled" this same list and didn't see it.

  • @AngelofAnguish I can't remember what number it is exactly but you can find the whole list, The guy who played him is truly terrifying but he is amazing actor

  • I saw this movie, i dunno witch version but it didn't scare me at all.

  • the texas chainsaw massacre is the most underrated horror movie ever. everyone says that other movies are scarier because almost nobody wanted to see it because it was too scary

  • @ICETEAPRODUCTIONS1 Im proud to be gay, and this movie is awesome and terrifying. I am gay and LOVE horror films, so relating this to gay doesnt degrade it at all asshole

  • ppl mostly know the classic 1974 version by Tobe Hooper. but the 2003 remake, who gives a shit?

  • this movie creeps me out every time i see it

  • @ICETEAPRODUCTIONS1 Errr, no.

  • @5510blue Have you (ever) seen the movie, "Ed Gein," starring Steven Railsback and Carrie Snodgress?

  • i shut this movie off last time i watched it, it was to isolated and distrubing *chills*

  • A classic.

  • This deserves the number 5 spot. It's a great movie! And terrifying.

  • @energizer61bunny I'd be satisfied if TCM was at number 3 OR 2! If it was at number 1, I'd REALLY BE FLOORED!

  • Love love love love looooooooooooooooooooooove this movie.

  • BOOM HEADSHOT

  • im watching this movie right now, best horror movie of all time

  • that scared the hell out of me as a kid, the part where he smacks his head with the hammer.

  • I have since been terrified of driving past cornfields after watching this film. The female actress who survives was so incredibly convincing with her acting. She was truly horrified!

  • Woww .. ;D

  • TCM is a movie that was just so ahead of its time.

  • @diamondkillswitch I agree or Yes, it was! In my opinion, what Psycho did for the '60s, TCM did for the '70s.

  • Although based off the killings of Ed guin the movie itsself is completely fictional he didn't even use a chainsaw everyone knows that right?

  • The Texas Chainsaw Massacre was happened in real life right? does the survivor was interviewed?

  • @yuioptrewqable

no, its based on the story of a gravedigger/necrophile/murderer, Ed Gein.

The chainsaw was added cause its more frightening than a gun or a knife.

  • by the way i dont literally poo myself - just very scared!

  • (cont from below) were walking out - and the leatherface appeared in the doorway and all hell broke loose - jesus i was in bits... right to the end when sally is running away from him, my legs were going mad - i was trying to run for her.. so scary, so well directed and acted oh my go so real! I wish my dad would take out the hedges as i poo myself every time he trims the bloody things !!

  • i pooed myself watching this film... i was shaking afterwards and slept with the light on for about 4 weeks afterwards.. the next day i woke to the sound of my dad triming the hedges - the sound went right through me and i pooed myself all over again! I watched it about 10 years agao when it was re-released i had no idea the effect it would have on me then, i didnt know much about it but the calm beginning lulled you into a false sense of security, kids were laughing, people (cnt above)
