I agree. People really need to open up their mind and educate themselves. In this day in age when we have the internet to learn about other's customs, it is a great shame that people still remain willfully ignorant.

@Chichiri520 It's not a part of Mexican culture, though. It's a form of religious extremism that has been present in Catholicism and other religions for centuries. Even today, self-flagellation and parades such as this are not isolated purely to Mexico.

that's sick, Jesus died and was tortured so that you or me wouldn't have to, why are people not seeing that that Jesus did that for past,now,future believers? I guess they don't believe the Jesus of the Bible but what their man-made religions/doctorines tell them. Sad.

If you understood, you would see it's significance. Although self-flagellation is extreme to me, it is a practice that dates back to antiquity and it symbolizes one being repentant of their sins.

It is such a shame that we have windows to a variety of resources to learn about one another's customs yet still remain ignorant.
