I used to think Ash and Red were different. Until, I read the Official Nintendo Power Pokémon R/B/Y strategy guide. If everyone's treating them separate, then this is Ash's theme.

Ash's theme > G/S/C/HG/SS champion theme.

@NintendenOnline What are you saying? I think both are badass and awesome, I watched in the last months very many episodes of pokemon, and I realized how much Ash does care with his Pokemon. I think he can handle his pokemon better than Red. For me is Red someone who just wants to be the very best and doesn´t he care, with his pokemon. For him Strenght is all what counts. Those are my thoughts.

Ash could be more awesome... if he was mute.

Red is a god. Ash is a typical trainer with a strange Pikachu that learned Volt Tackle and a bit more love for others than most trainers have. But Red would defeat Ash easily.

@NintendenOnline : The anime screwed up Ash. Had the creators focused on using Ash for only 5 seasons, made the anime storyline darker with a much larger influence from the organisation of Team Rocket and better character development for Brock and Misty. The primary Antagonist (after Jessie and Jame) throughout the entire series would be a Team Rocket Executive who would be in many ways represent what Ash could of become had he joined Team Rocket

@NintendenOnline I think Anime and Games cannot be compared. Ash defeated easily the champ of the Orange Island. And he was under the 16 Best trainers in Indigo. I don´t know how great he is in Johto and everything else. But I think he would be strong enough to defeat the Elite 4. Pokedex fulfill is inpossible in Anime (btw. Red hasn´t either I think, he just has his strong team) He can´t catch unique pokemon like Mew. That would destroy nature.

@NintendenOnline maybe Red is stronger, but for me Red´s mute just showes that he doesn´t have an character. Even so Red is maybe a lifeless person. I mean with 10 to a mountain training there 3 years with a single shirt? I must say the mute of Red is just epic and badass. But I like Ash even more. I think it was a good way that those 2 aren´t the same. It would be lame if Ash would be everytime mute. And the series would also be mute if Ash doesn´t say anything.

Even though I'm not a fan of Sinnoh, it'd be awesome if Dialga, Palkia, Giratina, and Arceus came together, and took Ash to the Pokemon World that's in the games, where he meets Red, his Counterpart. He has an epic Battle, and, when he returns home, he is more like Red (i.e., he has the Experience, Similar Clothing, and Personality.) But does not become Red, entirely.

Now Gary, he's the direct anime counterpart since not only is he the main character's rival, he's also the grandson of the Professor, just like the game.
