the reason people like this cover so much, even though you have other good smiths covers, is because when people search for 'the boy with the thorn in his side cover' the only one that is beautifully played and not spoiled by a slow tempo and pretentious singing, is this one, well done.

How on earth did this get 4 dislikes? stumbled upon this masterpiece of imitation and had the chords sussed in 10 mins-but in no way does that take anything away from this brilliant/best version. Do you perform any other smiths songs on acoustic?

there are only two parts. i'm self taught so i won't be able to name the complex chords...i'll just describe them. sorry!

it starts by shuffling between C and D three times. on the third C, lift you're index finger. on the third D, that quick little diddy is done by putting pinky down on the 3rd fret, then pinky off, then middle finger off, then middle finger back on 2nd fret. then slide the classic D formation up so that the index finger and middle finger are on the 7th fret, put pinky down.

the next chord (where the lyrics start) is hard to see: index finger 5th fret on high E string, pinky 7th fret on B string, ring finger 7th fret on G string. now it gets easy...when the lyrics say "side" it's A minor. "hatred" is C. "there lies" is D. "murderous desire" is G. hit a quick A minor. then sit on D for a count or two. "for love" is back to sitting on A minor. from here everything just repeats. you'll be able to track it now that you know the chords. if this is confusing let me know!
