i believe it would hurt the man Paul Arslanian more to be referred to 'beggar looking dude' more than it would to be given musical credit and copyright acknowledgement.
i use to play up there in the marin headlands..what a sound you can get..there use to be some old hag that sang there and she had a great voice like an angel
While I can appreciate how this beautiful piece brings people spiritual tuning forks into the realm of infinite creaminess, it urks me a bit that you folks haven't acknowledged the incredible display of circular breathing technique by Pharoah. when he goes "astral" at 4:15, notice the activity in his cheeks and how he never takes a breath. And no...its not a "Kenny-G-40-min-circular-breathing-stunt", but it is perfectly applied within the context of the presented material. Mastery!
Vibrations of The Infinite Spirit, this takes me to that Heavenly Realm every time! Try to play this almost on a daily basis to tune my Spirit up,Greatly appreciate your post! My absolute Favorite!
This song is so dear to my heart, it melts me into a peaceful understanding of the infinite being we all are, thank you Pharoah for this gift of cosmic vibration!
Pharoah is amazing. A truly spiritual musician playing from the source. I've viewed this on numerous occasions when I've been feeling low and it has always brought me back. Thanks for posting this. It is truly wonderful.
thats funny i play in those tunnels all the time..i don't think your aloud to play in that one now but you can play in the ones down by the beach..i'm actually going there this weekend to play my woodwinds..magical place.
Eh Buddy, can you show me where this tunnel is? I drive the 38l in tha' City, and I'm a Saxophonist.Lucky enough to see THE GREAT ONE ,last night at Yoshi's-S.F.
The beggar looking dude in the tunnel is Paul Asrlanian on harmonium. :) I hope it does not hurt any copyright knight's feelings if I name the guy.
My opinion about copyrights - If someone uploads an unknown treasure like this - that I honestly believe is good for the musician ... it's like an advertisement of Pharoah's soul and personality. A wonderful manifestation of his spirit ... I hope it will make people buy his CDs and DVDs.
It's not the latest hit that buys popularity for the channel
It does, I sometimes check tracks on youtube which I later hunt on vinyl. Of course it doesn't help the artist, as I target the second-hand market -but- if there is a great anthology or reissue I also aquire it, in which case the original artist may get it's ultra thinny slice of the cake.
this is one of the most beautiul videos iv ever seen. Pharoah is out of this world, I saw him in LA at the jazz bakery and I've never seen anything like it
This clip is lifted without permission from a copyrighted DVD available on Amazon and elsewhere: Pharoah Sanders: Live in San Francisco, which also features amazing performances with Idris Muhammad, and the late greats John Hicks and Walter Booker, and a short interview. Please buy it!
I own this DVD that was ordered through Amazon. Pharoah's playing sometime brings me to something like tears of joy. One the real highlights of this DVD is the intense and rapturous playing of John Hicks! It's hard to believe how STRONG he was. He will be missed.
Also heard this in "Love Crime" and have been digging around trying to find out who performed it. Thanks for uploading.
