Talk about a brilliant guitar player. He can play rock, jazz, country, bluegrass whatever. Not just a widdly widdly (he can do that too,so most other guitarist feel embarrased) but damn he is good.
@AceInTheWhole94 Do you mean it's a Blackmore's song? I think you're wrong. When Bananas has been recorded (in 2003), Steve Morse was in Deep Purple since 9 years. This album is from the Steve Morse period, it's one of the songs he wrote. It's totally his style, and not Blackmore's one...
Why would there be any dislikes on this? We could argue all day about Steve's place amongst the guitar legends, but why not just call something good, "good"?
Man Steve was really feeling it. I was really feeling it AWESOME. when your amp feed back is harmonizing in the same key your playing in your in the zone
Well, put it this way - Dave Gilmour of Pink Floyd is legendary at this kind of playing - atmospheric, emotionally driven guitar textures - that's why I drew comparison....Mr Morse is a great player for sure though....
it's in fact a song that consists of a solo! the name is "contact lost" from the album "bananas" (2003).
the title was written under the impression of the tragic loss of the Space Shuttle Columbia while Deep Purple recorded the Bananas Album. one of the pilots even had CD's from Deep Purple on board when they crashed. the CD's were found then amongst the debris.
If I remember correctly, it was not part of the song. I think it was entrance to another song. But since I am not a big fan of Steve Morse, I don't know if this solo was one of his own pieces. Thanks for the comment.
@dozgursel It's a piece called Contact Lost, which closes the Bananas album. It was written after the space shuttle Columbia exploded on re-entry, and it was found the crew had been listening to DP albums during the mission. Steve Morse wrote this amazing piece as a tribute.
@a7xguitar666 This is the intro of the song "Contact Lost" and the song is a tribute from Deep Purple to a discovery flight crash somewhere in the 2000's, If I'm not mistaken...

"purpelaar" the only reason why you say its boring is because you don't want to let out your emotions, because your stubborn...

Great guitarist, but you can't beat Dave Gilmour for this kind of thing in my view....

ummm..... you sure?? well many musicians views it the other way around, and that was really random to bring up.

Loved Steve's playing/music since I was turned on to Dixie Dregs, back in '79. He can play any style extremely well.
