  • Talk about a brilliant guitar player. He can play rock, jazz, country, bluegrass whatever. Not just a widdly widdly (he can do that too,so most other guitarist feel embarrased) but damn he is good.

  • It's called Contact Lost - If I remember correctly.. From the Bananas album :)

  • Love the Carolina Panthers colored guitar. haha

  • that's richie's solo..its partr of contact lost, on the bananas record

    brilliant stuff

  • @AceInTheWhole94 Do you mean it's a Blackmore's song? I think you're wrong. When Bananas has been recorded (in 2003), Steve Morse was in Deep Purple since 9 years. This album is from the Steve Morse period, it's one of the songs he wrote. It's totally his style, and not Blackmore's one...

  • Why would there be any dislikes on this? We could argue all day about Steve's place amongst the guitar legends, but why not just call something good, "good"?

  • Man Steve was really feeling it. I was really feeling it AWESOME. when your amp feed back is harmonizing in the same key your playing in your in the zone

  • One of my many favorite guitar player's.A true harmonic's genius to me.

  • neither

  • well he just puts his all soul n heart out onto his playing. its just aweeeeeesome.

wish i cud play like him.

  • @jeetsatriani you can, instead of believing you cant and its impossible, believe that you can and just do it.

  • he puts his soul into his guiar!!!

    amazing!!!

  • ya this song is called contact lost on their last album bananas

  • ya there is also john petrucci which imo is the best at it.. just my opinion :)

  • is that just improvisation or is that a song of him?

  • contact lost lol :-)

  • "purpelaar" the only reason why you say its boring is because you don't want to let out your emotions, because your stubborn...

  • Great guitarist, but you can't beat Dave Gilmour for this kind of thing in my view....

  • ummm..... you sure?? well many musicians views it the other way around, and that was really random to bring up.

  • Well, put it this way - Dave Gilmour of Pink Floyd is legendary at this kind of playing - atmospheric, emotionally driven guitar textures - that's why I drew comparison....Mr Morse is a great player for sure though....

  • thank you for your compliments towards david :)

  • Very random. Steve can't do what David does and David can't do what Steve does

  • very nice

  • very emotional

  • he is better at his trade than michael jordan, pele, or gretzky were at their's. he is phenominal. nice to see more videos pop up here.

  • okay that was fantastic.

  • Loved Steve's playing/music since I was turned on to Dixie Dregs, back in '79. He can play any style extremely well.

  • it's in fact a song that consists of a solo! the name is "contact lost" from the album "bananas" (2003).

the title was written under the impression of the tragic loss of the Space Shuttle Columbia while Deep Purple recorded the Bananas Album. one of the pilots even had CD's from Deep Purple on board when they crashed. the CD's were found then amongst the debris.

  • thanks a lot for this info man!

i love this song to death!

I always thought it was about Jon left the band. thank you very much

  • is this just a solo for the crowd's enjoyment or is it a part of a song?

  • If I remember correctly, it was not part of the song. I think it was entrance to another song. But since I am not a big fan of Steve Morse, I don't know if this solo was one of his own pieces. Thanks for the comment.

  • its called "contact lost"

  • @dozgursel It's a piece called Contact Lost, which closes the Bananas album. It was written after the space shuttle Columbia exploded on re-entry, and it was found the crew had been listening to DP albums during the mission. Steve Morse wrote this amazing piece as a tribute.

  • @dozgursel contact lost. name of the song.

  • @dozgursel it's "contact lost" from the album Bananas..

  • @a7xguitar666 it's contact lost from DP's album bananas

  • @a7xguitar666 --- This is a Deep Purple concert - the song is called 'Contact Lost' from DP's 'Bananas' LP (2003). Get it! Awesome stuff.

  • @rovibe

I was in that concert, but in Brazil, I've cried in that moment, he plays with heart on it. :)

  • @a7xguitar666 It's 'Contact Lost' - from the Bananas album, written about the Space Shuttle Columbia disaster.

  • @a7xguitar666 this is the song Contact lost by deep purple

  • @a7xguitar666 This is the intro of the song "Contact Lost" and the song is a tribute from Deep Purple to a discovery flight crash somewhere in the 2000's, If I'm not mistaken...
