  • Some Africans really CAN'T braid hair. That's just a stereotype.

  • @YungReg88 right. mfs think that just because someone was born in Africa they automatically know how to braid

  • That's why I like to braid my own hair. Years ago I called a shop to get my hair braided. The girl I spoke to quoted me one price for braids, so I set a date. When I went, the shop owner did my braids, but didn't know the price the other girl told me until she started doing my head. It felt kind of strange the way she was braiding, like the sections were too large. Sure enough when I got home and looked closer, she had half-assed done the back of my head. I had to take the back down and redo it.

  • Oh no I hope that doesn't happen to me :( I will be getting my natural curly hair braided for the first time in a couple of days. I live in Australia where they charge anywhere from $500 - $700 (some salons charge by the hour and take their sweet time) I'm paying $600 for mine so I'm hoping they do a good job. I hope they turn out like the ones you're wearing in the vid. Cute doggy by the way.

  • The same thing is happening to my braids now. It has been a little over a week and I have pulled at least 15-20 out

  • why are there knots at the end of micro braids anyway where are u from???

  • my friend's daughter just did my micros and i noticed at work (day 3of them in) that my micros knots are coming undone! im am so upset cuz this style is going to be for my wedding next week friday!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • that is my song in the background!

    good sense of humor!

  • IT WAS TOO MUCH HAIR USED TO TIE THE KNOTS I CAN SEE IT PLAIN AS DAY SORRY THAT HAPPENED TO YOU

  • This is why I do my own hair, I'm white but I have curly thick hair and I've had stylists put some nonsense in my hair that ruins it, so I learned how to cut and braid my own hair.

  • wow that was a shottie job, thats too much money to spend to have that done to you

  • I Would've Cursed Them Out!

  • i just got my micros done on tues n i payed 140. omg about two days aafta some braids from da bac n sides came lose n i pulled sum out cuz dey was hangin lose n i didnt want to walk by n have braids fallin outa my head, im like wtf

  • Thank you, I had the same experiance, however the braids started falling out one hour after I left the shop. The hair wasn't installed correctly. Too bad.

  • What The Heck! I Woulda Been Madd...I Woulda Sued Lol !

  • Atleast she didn't put nail glue in your hair... =(

  • she said well do you understand the word loose?! lol ur fabulous!

  • this is why i learned and do my micros myself.

  • what shop did it??

  • OMG I had to go back after a week and a half for the same thing.....

  • she did the knots 2 thick!

  • @SHAYLA626 LOL! I wanted to!

  • You're like the sister I never had.

  • @passion4starbux LOL! It's like that sometimes!

  • oh my goodness I feel your pain! I got my hair braided a few years back by a lady who lived 3hrs away. By the time I made that three hour trip home braids were already falling out! I could'nt have gone back even if I wanted to because I was moving out of state the next morning. She had done such a terrible job that when it was time to remove them (two weeks later), it only took me an hour if that. I laid my girls down for a nap and was done hair washed and all before they woke up. No more 4 me.

  • I actually just recently had micros done by an African women & it did more damage to my hair more then anything!

At my front ......I think I may have lost some follicles or something. And she put glue to secure the hair.....but when I took them out. I had glue all over my real hair. It was horrible!

I'm actually going Natural & I'm looking at how-to videos for different transitioning styles, so that I can do it myself. Never again am I trusting someone else in my hair!!!!!

  • your dog looks like mine.....is loki a maltese? he's cute.

  • @simplyqbri No, he's an American Eskimo. ( standard size) Thanks so much. He's my little buddy!

  • how come they didnt use nail glue

  • @alexandria895 Nail glue is typically used for synthetic hair (based on my experience).

  • haha..did ur dog smile back @you at 0:16?....lol

  • @derronwalim Yes, he does seem to smile at us! LOL

  • nice video..I do braids also some times it can be the hair that makes it keep slipping. Its just like braiding asian pp hair it tends to slip when brading. But I will do my clients hair over for free...B/c I want my clients to be happy...

  • @AKIYIAKELLY You are the best kind of stylist then! :)

  • Oh Thx!! I try. I treat people the way I would want to be

    treated. Take care...

  • Well at least you don't have my situation....after 3 days two of my braids in the front fell out! My friend and I did our best to braid them back in (b/c the braiding salon i go to is 45 minutes away), and I realized there aren't even knots to begin with! So now I have to hassle my old stylist who used to relax my hair, and ask if she can knot them even though she doesn't do braiding in her salon. I'm mad, but your video mad me feel like I wasn't alone. Good luck with your hair!

  • @cocoabeen393 Thanks! I hope you had better luck with your hair the next time around.

  • @lilmzthunda I love this idea! I'm going to try it because I'm having my own micro braiding problems.

  • Sometimes I don't understand how some of these people get their own shops and stay open so long doing such shotty work..My first and only Microbraid experience was just like that..braids AND my hair began to fall out 2 days after I got them done. We all sometimes learn lessons the hard way. And yes, they have the nerve to have an attitude at the shitty job they did, you don't understand what I'm saying? Well hopefully you understand Better Business Bureau to shut your asses down.

  • @JShahlo LOL!! That's right! We certainly dont have to stand for it!

  • i kno wat u r saying. i wouldnt go back to her at ALL!

  • LOL no you cant have it back!

  • @lavvy2585 LOL

  • I have been braiding my hair all mylife i found that if my hair is relaxed or is soft the braids will fall out. Maybe ur hair was to soft i can't see how they cod have messed it up. Yes never shop around why do u want so many hands in ur head plus u have expectations which means dat no other salon is going to do what u normally get in da same way stick wid wot u know.

  • The problem was that whoever knotted it..used wayyyy too many strands of hair to knot

  • this is exactly what happened to my hair , i got the braids and within ONE day they started falling out . now i no never to get in this womans chair .

  • girl i am prego with twins and due any day now so i got my hair braided in micros and in a week in a half i am getting them redone already after getting the current ones fixed twice 20 to 30 braids came out after only 1 week so i know what you mean the girl didi'nt answer my calls or nothing so now im paying twice for the bad job she did on me her name is nicole and she live in tampa fl do not go to her people she's bad business

  • I'm in the process of transitioning to natural hair and I"ve had my twists in (with extentions) for about a month or so. A few weeks after getting them done, one extension piece fell off! My sister-in-law apparently didn't twist my hair tight enough. Oh well, its part of the learning process right?

  • "Excuse me that's mine can I have it back plz" Haha!

  • it seems it might have been the mousse

  • She does not work there anymore because come to find out she did a lot of bad jobs on hair and then she had an attitude with finishing my braids bc I said she lucky if i pay 25 more she did finish them but i had to stop her a couple of times because she was pulling on them so hard the Bitch!!! Since then I have learned how to do my own extensions because I would have to be escorted out of a place if someone messed up my natural hair lol!!

  • I had braids done one time and the girl charged me 125 for micros I was transitioning and i was like wow good price. The braids looked good till I got home and look in the back real good and she did not braid my hair down past my real hair it was sticking out at least two inches of hair was out in all the braids in the back i went back and she said i have to charge 50 dollars more to braid all the way down because my hair is long WHAT!!! she could of said that in the beginning! Needless to say,

  • Comment removed

  • the person who did mine puts nail glue on the end of the braid so there is no way for them to come out

  • lol, so cute.

  • lols loki god of mischief and fire

  • Oh my god. I got mine done like in May and they were tiny. I thought it was suppose to be that way but ppl were telling me they were wayy too small. After a couple of days of havin them, like 2 fell out. Then after a week a total of 5 had fallen out. i was worried but i kept them in and now I have two bald spots on my side and like 8 braids coming undone. I'm scared to get them taken out because my natural hair might be jacked up. Should I get them rebraided or taken out and cut?

  • Wow, I've never heard of anyone's braids falling out immediately like that. Have you gone back to the braider for assistance? That seems like a good place to start. If your braids continue to fall out, (if it were me, I was remove them.) You could possibly be allergic to the hair, or you braids may be too tight, and you have some follicle damage (traction alopecia). Good luck! So sorry for your experience....

  • Yeah I do believe they were to tight but i'm getting them taken out by her. I told her the issues I was having but she was kinda a smartass about it. My scalp was also very itchy when I got them in too. I couldn't sleep for two weeks =( But thx for the reply and great video XD

  • Yeah, if you get them too small, then your hair will come out.

  • i honestly think they may have been too small when the weave is to heavy for the area of hair it is attatched to it will pull it out. dont get them tht small anymore. i hate to hear about the bald spots. most women think that the very small braids are cute... but they are not good for the hair when they are too small. sorry to hear that

  • i couldn't believe that knot it was to big sound like it ws bout money.

  • I know africans didn't do these micros, right?

  • sorry...she was. :)

  • @jameka28 wrong!! You guessed it!

  • she did the knots way too big..ugh...im sorry you had to waste your money on that.

  • I so agree with you on that Mousse, it is so not needed, i think they do it so you scratch your head and have to come back in when they get loose

  • lol what's the problem you dont understand the word loose? lol ha ha ha

  • I will never go to a braid shop again, I've learned to do my own!Times are to hard to pay $150 to get your hair done and then it damages your real hair.Check out my vid:)

  • Girl, I wish I could put them in myself, and I really wish it only cost $150 here still! LOL I will check you out!

  • I have heard of people using nail glue to seal it off.

  • that's why i do my own hair. my mom in licensed,,and no longer works at a shap, but i've learned from her.

  • You are very lucky to have someone teach you. I can start the mircos off, it's just not tight enough. If I could get good at that, then I'd be home-free! lol

  • i no wat you mean,my first time getting my hair braid i didnt like it at all untill aweek went by then i was feeling it, then wen i decide to try a new shop that i heard about to let my lil sister get her hair done the braids look good but come find out y i wasnt around they was being mean n nasty to a 13 year old girl and they didnt get to her split ends in the back and they were way slower then the first shop, im scared to shop around

  • yeah, sometimes if it aint broke dont fix it! Thanks for watching! :)

  • This is that very reason why I do my own braids. Funny that I say that because I am licensed but I cannot stand for a jacked up job. Best believe I will tell you about yourself... :-)

  • Girl, you dont know how much I wish I could braid my own hair!!! I just cant get a tight enough grasp when starting it! LOL

  • How I learned was basically through the way you cornrow. I wish I could explain it better but she (a master stylist/braider here in FL) told me to hold down the piece that isn't being braided yet. So if the middle piece is on the left, hold it down. Or if it is on the right, hold it down. This is to make sure it is tight and it doesn't fall off. HTH!

  • People in Mississippi CANNOT braid worth a flip

  • Aww that's terrible!! I know you must be put out to not be able to find a braider!

  • I know exactly what you mean when you say if you have a good braider don't shop around. The lady who used to do my hair broke her hand one day and couldn't do my hair. So I went to find someone else till she healed. One girl did my hair and when I got home a braid came out!!!! What kind of mess is that!!! I went to more people and they just didn't do anywhere near as good as my original person. I had to move and still can't find someone who can braid.

  • OMG!! Did you get any of your money back?!! I wish I could do my own! I keep trying, but there is something lacking in my technique when starting the braid. I just cant get it tight enough....

  • Those knots came loose because the piece of hair she used to create them was too big. I normally use 4 strands of hair to do them and knot them 4 times. That way they never come loose and you can't see the knots when you look at the end of the braid.

  • WOW!!! That looks like something that I did to my hair the FIRST time I braided my own hair!! And she was supposed to be professional? I would have went postal!!

  • OOOH! If you only knew! LOL

  • You're hair is soo pretty, however that experienceof your makes me happy I don't get my hair braided

  • thank so much! That was a RARE, isolated incident. My first time EVER in all the years I've gotten my hair braided. :) Thanks for watching!

  • I have my hair in micos right now as well. We have the same story. I am regrowing my natural hair for the 3rd time! But i have never had knots in my braids and they never slip. So sorry you had to go throught that - after spending your hard earned money.

  • Thanks so much! I just never would have believed it would have or could have happened! LOL How's your journey coming?

  • People are so rude, I mean you paid her to provide a service and she has the nerve to give you an attitude when she doesn't do it right.

  • Yeah, she was a piece of work! LOL You had to be there to see it!

  • oops,..you had to be there to believe it! LOL

  • the same thing happened to me. and the stylist had the nerve to try to knot my hair as if she was tying a shoestring

  • oh, naw!!! Girl, I think that would have pushed me over the edge and I'd be on the news!! LOL

  • omg i would hav been so pissed! i feel u girl... next time u try sumbody new, make sure they are well recommended and experienced!

  • I had already checked out her credentials before I booked the appointment, and a friend of mine told me she had been there before without incident, so I was glad (at the time) that I booked with them. I found my old braider, and it's all good again! Woo Hoo!!!

  • Oh gosh, I feel you. Last year my braidist was stuck in her country for like 5 months and I went to someone else who was recommended...NEVER AGAIN! She did not do the style I asked for and was combing my thick hair with a fine tooth comb and was acting like it was my fault? My hair came out a lot after that experience. I was so happy when my girl got back...UGH!

  • Girl!!! I know you were HOT!!!! I'm glad your girl came back. I'm glad I found my old braider! Check out my vid on my new hair..

  • Are the braids hard to take out?

I'm thinking about getting some, just don't want the tangle and the fuss when it's time to take them out.

  • No, just time-consuming. LOL I refuse to pay $50 to have the braider remove them! Check out my latest vid, I share a bit more info on my prep process. Thanks for watching! Good luck if you get them. :)

  • Gurl u are soooo timeless and beautiful! I loved your makeup (if u are in fact wearing makeup) in this vid...very natural! I know that's right!! Those dang micros cost TOO MUCH to have u unsatisfied! Chile, I would have done the same thing and they R NOT supposed to come undone period point blank! Why not put the shop name up and put her lack of experience on BLAST...lol OOOPS that's the evil side of kokofemme! ~smiling devilishly~

    *kokofemme*

  • Aww, thanks so much. Yes, I have on some makeup...ALL MAC. I like to have a soft look. Guuuurl, I started to put them on blast, but I think they will be their own undoing. My friend was going to go there, but then I told her what happened. She didnt even cancel her appt. She was just a no-show! I got them rebraided yesterday with my older braiders!! I'm sooo happy now!

  • I've worn micros for years before locking my hair and I never once had to knot them. I always did them small and they stayed even after washing.

  • I wish you could come teach that honey a thing-or-two!!! LOL

  • Oh my lord. It looks like an 8 year old did that! I'm sorry you had to deal with that mess.

  • Thanks so much. It comes out in a week for a new set of braids (round 3).. Woo Hoo! LOL

  • how long does it take?

  • Usually about 8hours or less. If you have more than one braider than it's less than 8hours. It also depends on the size of your braids. :)

  • Wrong is an understatement! LOL

Getting in done again in 10days. Thanks God! :) Thanks for watching.

  • He's an American Eskimo Dog. :)

  • omg what type of dog is that.... my dog klover looks exactly like that! the thing is i have no idea what breed she is

  • He's an American Eskimo Dog. :)

  • o jesus it look like a little child had knotted the ends im so sorry you had to experience that!

  • I know!!! I'm still mad!! LOL. I'm just glad to be getting it done over in two weeks!! YEAAAA! Thanks so much. :)

  • I kno ur still pissed about ur braids but how many packs of hair did it take to do them

  • It took a pack and a half...thanks for watching!!! :)

  • Thanks (about my dog). Thanks for watching. :)

  • Alright being "nice nasty" as she was...lol! I understand how that is with a bad braider doing your hair. They cost too much! By the way, beautiful dog.

  • Hey girl! I didn't know you had video's!

You and your hair look gorgeous and i hope your hair & the dog are doing better now ;-)

  • Hi Freya, Yes, I've been a bit busy! :) Thanks so much for the compliments and positive vibes!

  • I'm glad you found your old braiders cell #. Your dog is too cute, and I wanted too know what color lipstick are you wearing...I love it!

  • Thanks so much! I'm so glad, too. The lipstick is MAC "O" with MAC "O Baby" lipgloss (only on the center of my lips)and MAC Mahogany LipLiner on the outer portion of my lips, and MAC Chestnut lip liner lining my lips. (hope that makes sense) :)

  • Girl, you are too funny!!!!!!! I'm glad you found your old braider. They cost too much to have that happen to you. But you still look great in the video :) Loki is cute

  • Thanks, ma! :)

  • Hi, Thx so much for the compliment. Yes, it's definitely a lesson learned! I cant wait to get them done, too, so I can stop feeling paranoid about them falling out! LOL I'll gv Loki a squeeze for you! ;)

  • I LOVE Loki! I'm SOOO sorry about that awful experience! Even worse the girl gave you attitude! And, what a fine lesson in hair and in life - stick to who and what you know is good for you. YOu still look beautiful though! Can't wait to see the better -do!

  • still working on the tag..:)

  • Hi, Thx so much for the compliment. Yes, it's definitely a lesson learned! I cant wait to get them done, too, so I can stop feeling paranoid about them falling out! LOL I'll gv Loki a squeeze for you! ;)

  • Thanks for sharing this vid, GirlTalk!

Wow, I've never had micro braids. How long are they supposed to stay in?

    char

  • Hi, You're welcome. I like to share the bad with the good. They should last between two to three months (depending on the size). I went three months exactly my last go around, so you can see why I'm ticked that I'm doing it over at six weeks...

  • Dang gurl! sorry you had such a time with you braider... from the pics of the braids you showed it looks like she used to many strands of hair to make the knot. I'm glad you were able to get your old braider back :0 can't wait to see the new braids.

  • Thanks! I hope nothing has changed with my old braider's technique. You may see me on the news if I get bad braids again!!! LOL (If so, I will just got back to the place that did them in August).

  • Oops..forgot the annotations. :)

  • this is HILARIOUS!! I am glad you went back and made her fix it!! Shame that she had an attitude, but you still stood your groud. you are right, you pay TOO MUCH for braids to have them come out too early!

  • Thanks, Girl! I think she thought I would be too intimidated to speak up. She was quite shocked, because I was smiling when we were talking. LoL

  • I also HATE when youtube captures the worst still-shot for your video options! :)
