none of what yall are saying is true. this bomb was only filled with cement, for it was a training exersize. the a4 was there to film it, but the bomb unexpectantly got sucked up because of the jet blast from above creating lower pressure than the air around it and it hit the chase plane. watch the new show on the discovery channel called "destroyed in seconds". that was part of an episode. because of that incident, the military made a rule that chase planes must be a certain distance away.

That was indeed a fuel pod beig droped. The "empty" tank was sucked up from the slower and lower air presure above. Thats why wings are curved on top and not the bottom. It's called "lift".

The bomb did not release correctly, the bomb and the pylon from the F18 got released (this can be clearly seen in other shots) and the airflow around the F18 caused the bomb and pylon to hit the A4 - fortunately the A4 crew were able to eject before the A4 hit the sea.

It was a test of a new pylon with ordnance hanging from it. The ordnance became unstable due to air flow AND the weak pylon and the pylon broke free tumbled into the A-4 taking off a few feet of wing and opening a fuel cell resulting in fire.

ive seen this on discovery. its actually a bomb being dropped and filmed by the aircraft thats flying so close to it. it was a new weaponssystem that wa being tested.
