not only is he a rocket genius, but a comedic genius. Best thing I ever saw on youtube.
there's always rewards to sticking to a project. You restore my faith in humanity. I spent the last hour watching all of'em at least 2x. Oh yeah- I'm also into model rocketry and will do business with you soon
The bottles are connected by a tiny interstage release tube at the top of the booster stage that fits into the upper stage nozzle. The upper stage ring fin slides over the booster stage bottle to keep the rocket straight. KS.
The upper stage is only 60 grams, travels quite slowly and has a soft bumper pad so it is quite safe if it hits something or someone, unlike other rockets. KS
The Interstage Tube at the top of the booster holds onto the inside of the upper stage nozzle by expanding when the rocket is being pressurized. Its diameter shrinks when the booster pressure approaches zero. Then the upper stage pressure pushes it out of the nozzle with split-second timing. KS

How does the pressure from the bottom bottle get to the top bottle...
2stage4eva 1 year ago
The pressurized air goes from the bottom bottle to the top bottle through two tiny pinholes in the interstage release tube. KS.

just one of the bottles holds the pressure if you try and make two hold the pressure it's very hard to seal it and usually bursts

How does the first stage know to release?

You don't have a drawing of how that works, do you? I'm trying to figure a way to do multiple stages without electronics.

there are many other ways to make a 2 stage water rocket try google searching something like the crushing sleave
