As far as I've seen, so many broadcasters and everybody else were pretty much saying "the Saints deserve to win this ..." (which I don't agree with as a Saints fan) If you look everywhere you hear of "bandwagon" fans of the Saints from all over the country. I'll agree with you that nobody expected the Saints to win, but I think even the sportscasters wanted them to win.

I've got this play recorded on Tivo and have reviewed it often in slow motion on a large HD TV, not this little 3" youtube video, and I can assure you Manning was blocked in the back. Lots of fouls are missed in every game, and this game had a few. The refs can't see or call them all. However, it really doesn't matter at this point. The game is over. The Saints are the champs and should be congratulated. Now, can we all move on and not have anymore name calling. :-)

Its not a block in the back because Manning over ran the play (obviously Porter cutting back helped), the block by Smith came from the runners direction, and Manning after over running the play didn't really try, IMO, to square up and make a play on the runner.

@gmaboys- Apparently you got hurt more than you believe when you got hit from behind, because your brain doesn't work. 1st of all, I'm happy the Saints won, I don't really care about the Colts or Manning. Secondly, a block from behind is a block from behind and has nothing to do with the ball being thrown already. The Saints probably would have won anyway, but they got away with a missed call there. It's not like it was the only bad call made in football, they happen all of time, just admit it

Not from this view, but from another view from NFL network i think, from a camera behind Porter, you see that Smith gets Manning's shoulder and made a point to do so. Manning either overran it or tried to draw such a flag. DEFINITELY NOT A BLOCK IN THE BACK PEOPLE. UNDERSTAND FOOTBALL. initial contact on his shoulder, where the block finishes off DOESNT MATTER, COME ON MAN!

No, it was not that clear. If you look again, he was blocked across the shoulder, Manning was turning around.

In any case, the Colts D was not stopping the Saints offense since the 1st quarter. Saints would have scored. No OT, game over.

Great interception and return, and I'm happy the Saints won. However a penalty should have been called during the run back when Manning was blocked from the back. (not clipped). The touchdown should not have been allowed, and it should have been the Saints' ball on about the 50 yard line. If the refs were on top of that, the game results could have been different, but we'll never know.

Definition: An illegal block in which a player hits an opponent from behind, typically at leg level. Peyton was was barely shoved. He went down due to his own momentum. Caldwell would have challenged if he though for one second that the call on the field would have been overturned. I got alot of love for the Colts, but the Saints one this one fair and square.
