As a guitarist, I don't think Greenday has much of an edge on Blink 182 when it comes to guitar skills. Sure BJA has an occasional solo but its all so basic that he might as well be doing basic licks like Blink. Or maybe I'm not big enough a fan so I don't know the super shredder greenday song

Wait a second, Green Day doesn't steal songs, like the arguement states however many comments below. I know they aren't some crappy band that steals music! Green Day's songs have story behind them. For example, Brainstew was written when Billie Joe Armstrong was trying to get his first son to fall asleep- hence the line "I'm having trouble trying to sleep". They are a real band, not some look alike band- trust me.
No doubt that Green Day has been more successful, but I prefer blink's music over theirs. I like both of their styles, but I like blink's more. As a matter of fact, it'd be so awesome for them to tour together again 1 more time.

Green Day did sell out a bit, but just because they use metaphors in their lyrics that simple minded Blink lovers don't understand doesn't mean they suck. I will admit that some of the songs are really shit. But there are good ones too, like East Jesus Nowhere. And I'll tell you what, Green Day put on a fucking awesome show live.

It's funny how people call Blink "pussy punk" when Green Day sold out to the mainstream and made that piece of shit pop album 21st Century Breakdown. Blink is my favorite band of all time and Green Day is like my 3rd. I only like old Greenday and I love all Blink (mostly the old). I know that Blink kinda sold out too, but if you say that what Green Day is making NOW is punk. Then you have no idea what you're talking about.

@crazybobbis12 I listened to ALL of 21st Century Breakdown and it ALL sucked. It's true pretty much EVERY band sells out, but it's just how they make money. I think that Green Day really did it worse than anyone though because they really didn't need to do it to make money they just kinda dropped everything they knew about punk.

Wait a second, Green Day doesn't steal songs, like the arguement states however many comments below. I know they aren't some crappy band that steals music! Green Day's songs have story behind them. For example, Brainstew was written when Billie Joe Armstrong was trying to get his first son to fall asleep- hence the line "I'm having trouble trying to sleep". They are a real band, not some look alike band- trust me.

No doubt that Green Day has been more successful, but I prefer blink's music over theirs. I like both of their styles, but I like blink's more. As a matter of fact, it'd be so awesome for them to tour together again 1 more time.

@mfighter96 I already know Telephone Line...I'm struggling to see how they are alike. and the Jesus of Suburbia/City of the Damned part, was obviously not ripped off of Summer of '69. The only reason someone might think that is because of the American Edit remix album by Dean Gray, where it mixes them two songs together on the track American Jesus.

enema of the state is COMPLETELY different than Dude Ranch. They definately changed their sound...especially during their self titled. I love both bands but you cannot call green day sellouts by making Dookie on a major label just because they wanted better equipment. They sound exactly the same they would've if they wouldn't have signed. if you say green day sold out then you have to say blink did. Blink signed to a major label with enema. but their sound changed way more than green day.

i have to disagree, enema was so poppy and dude ranch was raunchy. there is a huge difference. american idiot came out after untitled. so if changing your sound is "selling out" blink did it first, but american idiot sounds like anything green day would do, they didnt change their sound. or sell out. seling out in the punk world is signing to a major label and both blink and green day did that.
