  • Ya know.. blu Ray was made by SONY. which is why neither Microsoft nor Nintendo will ever have Blu-Ray unless they make a deal with sony.

They could have DVD but people are using Blu-Ray more.

  • you have any pictures of it ?

  • British Faaat

  • yeah um i wouldnt trust kotaku with even a penny. All they are is tabloids for video gaming. All they do is blow something out of proportion to shock people to get more visits to their site. Then all the info they actually get right is copied from other site but reworded so it doesnt sound plagarised. Seriously I stopped reading kotaku a long long time ago. I wouldnt trust anything they have to say.

  • A 4GB SD card cost me £13.99 how much is a 32GB one going to cost me? It's one for the Wii but doesn't save any of my smash brothers content. If the WiiU doesn't have a hard drive I don't think I'm going to going to buy it.

  • hope it has a hard drive so i can save a complete game right on the wii U

  • wii u controller copied the NGP

  • wii-u. *facepalm*

  • get some gigs already!!!

  • since the nintedo DS doesn't have much memory, itd be cool if they split a game up in to like 3 diffrent parts as seperate games.

  • I'm glad they are not gonna have a hard drive. Why waste extra power and decrease life expectancy through wear and tear of the hard drive when solid state can do it anyway?

    Go Nintendo!

  • if they make a new gta put it on the new wii

  • so if bluray is going to be on the next nintendo console that means sony will profit from their console lmao sweet

  • Call it the Puu

  • On a more serious note, another job well done. Keep it up! And will you take off the beanie to celebrate after E3? Just asking...

  • Understood, pal. Love u too...lol

  • i think nintendo should use laserdisc now since we can make them have tons more space than before.

  • @NeonHybridization

What about the numerous other online games to come along before nintendo implemented it? Let's just ignore those, right? Don't get me wrong, I'm a Nintendo fanboy.. But David's right. They don't so much as invent new technology, as implement it in creative and unexpected ways.

  • @NeonHybridization

Also wrong. Care to try again?

  • Yay for short and sweet videos! i like that these arent like 15 minutes, so i actually watch these

  • Nintendo will probably invent something for their games. They did it with all of their cartridges and Sony has blueray rights so Nintendo will most likely NOT use it.

  • @sonic3895 sony dose not own bluray its just like dvds any compony can have the rights

  • @magic1wizard I said rights, not ownership.

  • I thought Nintendo wanted to win the hardcore gamers back, after alienating them with the Wii. They need to get with the program by adding a hard drive or at least the option for one, because a 32GB SD card isn't going to cut it; while they're at it, how about an online gaming service.

  • I WANNA HARD DRIVE >:(

  • I heard that the Wii is going to have a Solid State Drive, which is faster than the HDD, but it is more expensive. I could just see Nintendo giving 32gb SD card with the console, and hopefully 64gb and 128gb SD cards will be available by then, but that's just wishful thinking.

  • @Johonywuzhere What about those 1tb cards called SDHX or something with an X

  • @troy1002x never heard of it, but if it`s true, it`s likely nintendo would resort to that, it would be a smart idea.

  • You really should work for Nintendo.

  • @NeonHybridization

    Nintendo invented the internet?

Call the patent office! There's been a grave injustice!

  • im pretty sure it will have a hard drive

  • There's an orange county in NC, CA, and Florida...

  • Anyone think they're going to use 3DSs as controllers for the Stream? Nah, you're right, that'll probably be too expensive for people to get 4+ 3DS systems just to use with the Stream haha that'd be cool though.

  • are you a part of nintendostream,com ?????

  • Speaking of Orange county, i lived there for 8 long years, BUT, i NEVER lived in orange county....can you figure out this riddle?

  • @XxTheResurrectionxX tell me its gettin me mad >=(

  • @rock5884 lol, i lived in orange county in florida but i didnt live in orange county in california, there are two orange counties :P

  • That's not Blu ray, it says Nintendo developed their own disc and it will be 25 GB and the system will have a flash memory of 8 gig Lame IMO. This is next gen not ice gen. Hopefully they'll go high with the graphics which i also doubt as they have never had a console that surpasses nor Microsoft or Sony. This is their time to shine before Sony and Microsoft unveil their monsters to the market. Will they take it? WHO KNOWS. E3 will answer that

  • @RaidensPain Gamecube? Its capabilities far outpowered the PS2. Granted, the disc space was so small that such capabilities were rarely capitalized on, but I do recall seeing the specs for the GC being better than the PS2.

    Also, N64.

  • @DMXP100 The ps3 was already out for 8 years and no it wasn't better. Look at MGS game on gamecube and MGS 3 on ps2, Huge difference in graphics and gameplay.

  • @RaidensPain I think nintendo surpassed sony with their Gamecube. They probably lowered the memory to make it cheaper, maybe just only a bit higher than the wii price?

  • Even though Sharp manufactured it, Nintendo still developed it and that's all that matters

  • yes Blue ray 20GB or storge on disc and if GTA 5 comes out for the wii 2 i would cry. Nintendo is stepping it up. boom Nintendo was just waiting to kill Sony and Microsoft and Nintendo going the Sony way yes so yea Nintendo never dose anything what Microsoft dose so yea ps3 and wii 2 rock. Fuck 360. you See you part 123 of disc we got 1 so yea no switching blueray is the best. just like ps3 i hope Agent comes to the wii 2 because they say its for ps3 but i think it will be pused to wii 2.

  • 8GBs? AMAZING NEXT GENERATION TECHNOLOGY!

  • Some say that David doesn't have hair under his beanie... just another fist.

    please confirm

  • @AcidRain1337 LOL. he has vids without the beanie.

  • @AcidRain1337 lol, Family Guy joke.

  • dont sony own blu-ray?

  • @09Rdog yes they do

  • @09Rdog No, they're only part of the Blu-Ray Association

  • Hmmm... If so than it's a fail on nintendo's behalf.

  • Or just let me buy a 1TB sata hard drive and let me use that?

  • @chuninuzomaki Nintendo will not let you use a hard drive, because it will increase the piracy. Of course hackers will break Nintendo's protections, but they will have to buy their games for the first year or two that it takes to hack the Wii 2.

  • @cbernier3 Ok so hard drive will increase piracy you say? hmm, interesting the Xbox 360 uses 2.5" Sata hard drive, which is formatted for the Xbox 360 to use. Xbox 360 also supports USB through formatting. The Xbox 360 is not primary pirated by hard drive, it's by flashing the disc drive first! The PS3 has a hard drive, it took 4 years to hack, I doubt that hard drive made it easier to hack. True any storage will cause piracy, I have a soft modded wii, I run USB Loader... to be continued

  • @cbernier3 Having a hard drive does not pirating easier, having good internet connection does :P. Anyway a hard drive makes it easy to store your pirated content but it doesn't make it easier to pirate. If it does pirated then people can use Discs, USB flash drive, and external drives, if there is a USB port. Your argument is like saying the wii should not have USB ports, it should not have an sd port and a Disc drive. AKA Onlive

  • Heh.

Stop calling it the Wii 2!

    Lolololololol

  • Nintendo has invented their own disc format for the past 2 generations so what do you mean it doesn't make since one huge reason it makes since is it puts a huge wall against piracy

  • @wiiownsps3and360 No they didn't. The Wii and Gamecube both use what are basically DVDs. You can burn wii and gamecube games onto Dvds or mini dvds.

  • I hope it plays blu ray. I don't see the differance between HD (1080P) and like 480P, but it's obvious in the next few years Blu Ray will be taking over DVD's, as DVD's did to VHS's.

  • a flash memory would not work

  • Is there anything confirmed about the "Wii 2" besides the fact that it exists?

  • JANE HAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @dramanerdfighter DAVID HAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • 8 gb on bored memory dose not mean threes NO hard drive, just that threes 8 gb on the mother bored for os and ram so three can be a separate cartridge to put a hard drive

  • Bring back memory cards

  • @footube3000 Why do you want proprietary memory cards? You can just copy your saves to SD card.

  • i love blu ray

  • i know, i hate how people are like "its not going to be wii 2" and stuff like that. its just easier. its faster than say "the next nintendo homeconsole"

  • This video is not intended to be a factual statement

  • I just hope the controller is sleek, rechargeable through the console, contains 4 main buttons, a d-pad, two analog sticks, and 4 trigger buttons, and the number one most important thing the controller has to be is : Comfortable!

  • @ACdub10101 actually, i was trying to get in the highest rated comments ,, but thanks, lol :P

  • ok ok i get it, it will still be back wards compatable

  • Ummmm... will it be released in 2012? It should really be released in holidays 2011. :P

  • yeah cant wait 2 watch avatar in MORE HD!!!!!!!!!!!

  • UNKNOWN TSHIRT WEARER

    Y U NO LOVE ME!?

  • And guys. This is nintendo. They know for a fact that us fans will be heavily dissapointed if the new wii is not backwards compat. Theyve never let us down, well for me anyways.

  • @dongsun24ify As much as i know, The cafe will be compatible with wii AND Gamecube, looks we'll have a big library in just one console :)

  • There would be nothing strange about a Nintendo console using blu-ray. After all, audio CDs ("red book standard") were first developed by Sony and Philips, who also created CD-ROM ("yellow book standard"). So just because Sony was among several companies involved in creating Blu-Ray doesn't exclude consoles by other companies from using it. Probably.

  • I thought Sony owned Bluray?

  • @TerminalMontage not really, they own thew bluray game disks.

  • O: Even with sony hacked they are still disliking!

  • For everyone saying sony made the blu ray disc. THEY DIDNT. it was developed by the blu ray disc association. its not so hard to believe the wii 2, yep i called it the wii 2, will include blu ray support. i also agree to davids point that a "hard core" gamer isnt someone who solely plays cod or whatever. i follow nintendo and sony news looking for new game releases and rumours before they come out and consider my self somewhat a hardcore gamer yet i play puzzle and mario games mostly. rant fin..

  • How is wii2 it going to surpass PS3 and XBOX with no hard-drive??? ??(ーー;)??

  • @Animefan4ever5 Thats the riddle isnt it.....Nintendo has found a way. Purhaps a new technology that is more advanced then a Harddrive? Dun Dun Dunnnn

  • @Animefan4ever5 with an sd card

  • @evangellan007 Well, the PS3 can play PS*1* games....idk,..

  • What about in the late 80s? Was it necessary to call the SNES prototype-thingy the NES 2?

  • What the! What do you mean the Wii2 will have no hard drive!!! D:

  • So we can expect no DLC?

  • Sounds like a good system. I'm still going to wait a good 1-3 years to buy it though.

  • honestly id rather have a small memory card than a damn hard drive haha (:

  • PS3 game size - 30 GB

    Wii 2 game size - 28 GB

    still behind ?

  • @BobbyJonny1 its just game size...

  • @BobbyJonny Has there been a game current gen that required more than 15GB? Blu-Ray will be overkill until the gen after next.

  • @BobbyJonny1 Have you seen a PS3 that use 30 GB? I just hope it's atleast 25GB, LA Noir for 360 uses multi disk.

  • @BobbyJonny1

You're judging how successful a console is judging by its game size? loooool.

Woah look! Its zelda twilight princess! Oh wait..the 5000 8-bit games in one next to it is bigger so ill get that.

  • @dongsun24ify i didn't say anything or mean anything about judging

it was a question if you didn't know

  • nintendo doesn't invent tech? you do own a 3DS, right?

  • @maynardjustwins The 3D display is manufactured by Sharp. It's existed for years.

  • @Nintendo3DS yeah it's called the virtual boy. plus what about saving your game progress, d-pads, thumb sticks, touch gaming (done right)a motion based controller and.so much more. nintendo invents things all the time. PS i hope you don't think I'm just trolling you because I'm not

  • @Nintendo3DS Not really that particular tech is fairly recent, after all Wii 2's possible heptic technology is only 2 years old.

  • @Nintendo3DS What about the cool analog stick? :P they invented that right?

  • @Nintendo3DS yeah but it dose'int have glassies

  • @mattafields hey 3 year old that's what he's talking about

  • @maynardjustwins the secreen of the 3ds has the same tech as some 3d gps navigators that are selling since 2005

  • @maynardjustwins

They design with the tech that is available, they don't invent new tech..

  • @maynardjustwins HA your stupid. the only thing i can recall them inventing was the discs that wii uses. wii optical discs. but who knows maybe they did create a new cd just to not feel like biters

  • @kirox777 Those are just DVD's really, with some extra copy protections.

  • @maynardjustwins lol fail

  • Did people call the Wii the Gamecube 2?

  • @JonJonTehEpicness Internally it was, they just OC'd the CPU, upgraded the RAM, added a wifi card and a Bluetooth dongle and had a Wii.

  • @Dant2142 im only asking this cause everyone is calling it the wii 2. while no one called the gamecube the n64-2.

  • @randomchump

If it's back-compat it will play the discs genius, not store them in SD. It does take discs...

  • Gamecube sized BluRay discs

  • You're such a beautiful person.

  • I don't get the t-shirt! Am I the only one who doesn't get it? Could someone please explain?

  • I need that shirt.

  • The light in the background keeps changing lol

  • Well, the PS3 has a hard drive, and a blu-ray player....I know which one I'm getting

  • u know they had a teaser for the wii 2 at e3 last year right?

  • I just don't see how it Not having a Hard drive would work. :o If its Backwards Compatible with Wii it has to have a Hard drive. Cause games like Brawl and Animal Crossing could NEVER be saved on the new console then. Since without Homebrew its impossible to use its save data on an SD Card.

  • i like the wii member i used to have a Ps3 and had 14 gigs of rock band songs on there and it was 250 songs what not and on my wii i have 260 on a 8gig SD card and I still have a lot of room on the SD card. BTW my ps3 got the red light of death.

  • If Nintendo does not include a large Hard Drive then it won't sell :(

If they want to recapture the hard core market they must do hard drive support

  • The Wii2 is sounding pathetic right now.

Nintendo had a chance to grab the Hard-core market, but they screwed it up.

    Seriously, no hard-drive?

  • FIREFLY!!!! WOOOOOOOOOT!!!

  • I don't think nintendo will use one of it's main competitors disc format.

  • But then again DVD was also developed by Toshiba Sony and Phillips, so they probably won't use that as well.

  • Wii 2 won't have Blue ray, because it's owned by Sony i think. Nintendo will have to give profit to Sony.

  • @masterman280 Sony doesn't own blu-ray.

  • @demonnogo They still need to pay them.

  • The problem with SD card, is that you can't store as much thing as you can on HDD.

  • please stop saying "anyways" haha! is it an australian thing to say anyways a lot? replace it with "besides", or moreover, or however, or some other word!

  • I don't mind if it doesn't have a harddrive. I have my 500gb PS3 for movies, and photos etc.

  • If it doesnt have a hard drive nintendo shld include and sd card like the 3ds but it shld be bigger

  • Comment removed

  • DAVID can you please tell me what the shirt means? =o i know its from a show and that you bought the shirt a teefury or some site like that =p (could be qwertee too) but i dont know what kind of a series it is ;o i wanna know cuz the shirt looks awesome and i almost bought it too =p

  • I'm really disappointed that there won't be a HDD. I thought that kind of thing came standard nowadays. Sure, memory is dirt cheap nowadays, and getting it won't be a problem, but im the type of person who loves his classic title's and DLC's, and while flash cards work well, there's only so much they can store. Not only that but when you have many finding a specific game will be a pain in the ass. Like I said memory is dirt cheap so to me that's all the more reason to include it.

  • Speaking of The Wii2(Or Project Cafe)...Does it have backward compability to play Gamecube games? I know it's an old system but It would be cool If it had it.

  • as long as there's no baby sitter party then im fine. because the wii MASSIVE disappointment for good games.

  • Shit!!! No HDD!?!?!

  • nintendo know what they're doing so stop bitching

  • @turbogamer25 Wii say Hello.

  • for the ones who are angry because of no hard drive on wii 2: no hard drive = low cost, nintendo is famous for keeping the cost of its consoles accessible, back to the subject, imo the big N should put external hard drive compatibility ... i have a 100GB external drive full of dust.

  • "Nintendo feel"? .... ZOMG They're bringing back the power glove! :P

  • If it's name actually is Stream, then maybe there's a function to literally Stream game play over the internet!

  • Yup awesome shirt xDD

  • Project Cafe should have a hard drive, mostly because blu-ray loads slower then normal DVD discs and being able to install a game to a 50-100 GB hard drive would be nice so it could load faster. But it's also not really necessary at least in the eyes of Nintendo so I guess we'll just have to put up with load times.

  • @LoneWolfArtic

shorter load times have always been what nintendo strived for, its the reason y they stuck wit cartridges for the N64 just to have fast to no load times afterall, so they will probably try their best to increase it to cut down on load times

  • Nintendo is will become a software company, they just can't compete with Xbox 360 and PS3. The Xbox 720 and PS4 will be released soon after the Wii 2, pushing Nintendo out of the market. Plus PS3 just had a network mega crash. Looks like Xbox won. :P

  • @austinmmboy look at the sales mah boi, the wii sold TONS more than the xbox 369 AND ps3

  • I hope that there won't be any 2nd gen of Wii, JUST a GIANT UPDATE & UPGRADE! Who agree with me?

  • wait, if it is blue ray, then it's not back-wards compatible, NOOOOOOOOOO!

  • @lukisforgets it could be. ps3is blueray but its still backwards combataple.

  • @lukisforgets Its already confirmed the Nintendo Stream will be backwards compatible. Nintendo ALWAYS has backwords compatible.

  • @lukisforgets It's Nintendo, the company that made the little GC disks readable on the Wii, I'm confident it'll be Bckwrds compatible.

  • @lukisforgets How can you say that, how do you think the PS3 plays DVD's?

  • @lukisforgets PS3 is blu ray and mine is backwards compatible...

  • @lukisforgets Exactly! The ps3's original model played Blue ray discs and couldn't play Ps1 CD's and Ps2 DvD's. So yes playing blue rays instantly means that backwards compatibility is not possible... wait...

  • @lukisforgets uhm, why? Even if it's a bluray drive doesnt mean that it doesnt accept dvd's. Just look at the PS3

  • @lukisforgets It has already been confirmed that it will have backward compatibility. You need to take a look at a Blu-Ray drive. They have TWO laser lenses. One uses a blue light, the other is standard red. One reads Blu-Ray, one reads CD's and DVD's. Your "NOOOOOOOO!" is all in vain. ;)

  • @lukisforgetsThey can make two CD lectors....like a DVD player with VHS player
