Why is everybody condemning the interviewer? I love Blake to death, but I couldn't at first even tell if this was a joke or not! I mean he's acting like the same person in and out of filming! Since when did actors "turn into" their parts?!?! Jonathan king wasn't at all bashing the film or Blake, he was conducting a simple interview with a critic's attitude. And for some reason Blake was blowing up about his theories. Loosen up Robert and talk to the guy about the film. Shit.
LOL!! Blake handed you your ass you fucking asshole interviewer!!! and he was so gracious and said so many valid things. Great interview but not thanks to the interviewer!1
I totally understand ... robert you are correct... I do not watch fiction. Its boring. I think this reporter is stupid... No wonder Robert was upset with this guy.
Best.Friggin.Movie.Star.Interview.EVAH!!! ;-) The TV host is a pretentious moron; I can see why Blake got so riled as he took his role very seriously & personally. Wow.
@kenwayne96 - I believe he was referring to his previous comment about everyone being human, with faults, foibles, mistakes, etc. With the right upbringing & chances in life, the killers could have led productive lives; with the wrong, the murdered children may have been delinquents. It wasn't meant as an insult toward the victims.
WOW! Robert Blake says all and to the point;we are all BROTHERS AND SISTERS. His words came from the heart.I thank you BOTH for the honesty in this interview. 70bonnie 10/17/09
Jonathan king and Robert Blake both make dumb comments in this interview. First of all the movie absolutely did not glorify 2 kilers. The movie is a very realistic, freightening & disturbing portrayal of two heartless ex-cons who enter the Home of an innocent family and leave them blown to smitherines, and Blakes comment about everybody being wrong including the family doesn't make a lick of sense. My heart was pounding and I was hyperventilating when I saw the murder scene in this movie.
Strange, it seems there were loads of edits.....I heard your end lines many times, as though you had repeated them. Was there really TWO cameras fiming this? Very good though.
Blake said "they were ALL wrong"! He included the INNIOCENT PEACEFUL FAMILY who were all murdered in COLD BLOOD by those two sub-human thug trash!! Yeah, right Bob, the family was equally "wrong" eh? The MURDERERS ARE SOLELY RESPONSIBLE and no body else! You're a lunatic!
In the introduction, Mr. King is very generous to Robert Blake. A fascinating interview, but Robert Blake was always a troubled angry man.But a brilliant actor.
As always Robert does tell it how it is, and I for one miss his presence in TV and the movies. I hope that he is doing well and will again return, or at least understand that not all people view him as a "monster". We still love you Robert
Every thing that Blake said is still the same today. We dont care about people who have problems or mental illness. We live in a rat race and a violent world and every one will be touched by that violence at some point. We have to start looking after others and not just number one.
Robert Blake freaked out over predictable liberal sensationalism. The interviewer just looked like Maynard G. Crebbs. So many hippies have given me the same "bad example" speech for writing horror, and I say "well free speech is the law, isn't it?"
An amazing interview, hand on heart. The temperature, the clash between two quite different minds, etc. A very interesting documentation in every way.
Robert Blake was so real, he had insight into the real motivations behind peoples actions. How refreshing that he didn't sugar coat his feelings and worry about political correctness. What a shame his work wasn't and hasn't been given the credit it should have had.
Sorry, but I'm with Robert Blake on this. Everything he said was true. I guess the film's popularity proved the interviewer wrong. I'm also surpried that he didn't start bashing Hitchcock for Psycho basing it on Ed Gein. That interviewer had absolutly nothing to back his points but eccept blind ignorance and a one sided point of view.

I'm guessing blake was trying to be 'the next dames dean' with this overly 'introspective' performance.

Funny he talked about having murderous instincts and he is then accused of murdering his wife down the line. And he was so fucking hot back then.

robert blake was exactly correct.that movie
was not gory but was about a gory crime. hes
right you never see any gore, in fact many movies today make IN COLD BLOOD you like Mary
Poppins, hes right it helps you see what can happen to some peoples minds and maybe you can recognize it and prevent other crimes like
this happening .
