I like the tempo he took on his CD better. It was a lot more steady and generally more in control which allowed every note to speak. Got a little messy for him in the second variation in this video. Great player though.

I always think of Fred Dibnah when I hear this brass style of Music - he always used it on his steam and industrial programmes, I never realised what it was until recently, was just a small lad then. But that Music was really nice, always looked forward to it when watching the programmes.

Astounding! I'm a brass player (trumpet) and I have spent some time playing lower brass instruments including the tuba and let me tell you it takes a LOT of air to keep the sound going and just listening to this guy leaves me gasping. The fact that he makes it look so easy and has so much fun with it is amazing. Great performance

@nyffeler2 Its normal to do that. usually soloists will not have sheet music in front of them, but the accompanist is usually only hired to play, and its not that they aren't capable of memorizing the music, but they just don't want to. Plus, its about accompanying the soloist, so if the soloist starts speeding up or there is a slower section, the accompanist can read along with the solo line and follow them without messing up.

@XPsycoWaffleX No, He is breathing more often than what's noticable om the video. He's just realy good at snapping up much air, without stopping the flow of the melody. He doesn't need much free time to breath in a lot of air. And he has been doing his breathing exercises everyday longer than i have lived, and have aquierd quite a lung capasity, wich means he can take in a lot more air in one grasp than a normal human being can do ;)
